“You’re calling her Jen already? I told you about getting too close. But more to the point, why are you taking her off-grid? What’s happened?” her voice turned sharp.
“The stalker just called threatening to come to the house and kill me if I don’t move out within 24 hours. Obviously, I can’t leave her by herself and I’d rather get her away from everything for a bit until I figure out who’s behind this.”
“So what if he comes to the house? Just take him out!”
“Are you insane? Can you imagine what that would do to Jennifer? And to your movie? I can see the headline now: Jennifer Jacobs’ Contracted Killer. While she would be in questioning, and possibly jail, the movie would rot away and all that money you invested would go down the drain with it. Let’s face it, Jen may be an asset to you, but you’re committed to the movie, not her.”
“Ah, well it appears you might be more than just hired muscles after all Ace, my sweet. Fine. You win. But I want this movie back on track within a week. We can’t hold off any longer. Wait until I tell David, the fat bastard will have a heart attack. Where are you going to keep our precious little actress?”
“I have a cabin up in the woods we use for hunting,” Ace rattled off the address.
“Joe and I think it’s best we check in on you two once you have settled into your new surroundings. I wouldn’t mind seeing ‘your Jen’ in the flesh. I’ll drop you a call before we drop by. Talk soon, handsome.”
As soon as she hung up, he rushed up the stairs to pack his bag. It was rather simple considering he hadn’t brought much in the first place, but he ensured his Glock was loaded before tucking it into the back of his waistband. That little fucker better not show his face around me anytime soon. The bastard could do with a hole in his brain, that’s if he even has one.
Ace could feel anger pulse through his veins as he finished packing. How could he target someone so sweet and innocent for his twisted mind games? M was trying to force her to be with him against her will. Ace wouldn’t let that happen. But is that purely to complete the job or is it because I want to be with her instead? He pushed the thought aside, he had more important things to concentrate on right now and the thought of getting closer to her brought a chill of the unknown.
Walking past her bedroom, he heard her crying gently with the soft rustle of clothing while she packed. He wanted to go in and comfort her but he needed to get her out quickly and the distraction of their bodies together would not help. Not to mention, he didn’t want her getting the wrong idea.
When he got to the lounge he noticed her mobile was still on the table. It might be worth confiscating this from her for a while. I need to monitor who’s calling her and why. Maybe the fucker will slip up and give something away, but I need to ensure I can hear the whole conversation this time. He slipped the phone into his pocket and sat on the edge of the couch. His foot tapped against the rug with impatience. He wanted to get her out of here as fast as possible and away to safety.
After a while, he heard the gentle patter of her feet on the stairs and he stood up, hooking his gym bag of belongings over his shoulder. She had a small green canvas backpack which she carried over one shoulder. He watched as she tied her laces on her sneakers and grabbed her keys from the bowl. Not knowing the way, she tossed them to him and he caught them mid-air.
Time to go.
They quickly walked to the car, Ace tried to scan his surroundings inconspicuously. The rain was getting heavier and only a mad man would be out in this weather. But he is mad. They ducked into the shelter of the car and he chucked his bag into the back seat, she placed her backpack gently by her feet. Engine on, he waited for the roller shutter to fully open before pulling out of the driveway. Only the patter of the raindrops broke the silence as they drove to the cabin.
Ace had memorized the route by heart after the number of times his brothers had spent up there. Highways soon turned into small roads which soon turned into dirt tracks carved through the trees. Rain battered the windscreen as he sped through the forest. He noticed that the water had started to form small streams which trickled down the hill. No signs of life appeared, probably sheltering from the terrible weather. It suited the current mood in the car.
A side road, virtually invisible to those who didn’t know where they were going, led them up to the cabin. It was a happy sight to see the place where he had formed many good memories with his brothers during hunting season. He wished he had visited here more often, it stirred a certain peacefulness in his soul. He pulled up as close to the stairs as possible so they wouldn’t get wetter than necessary getting indoors.
“Wait here while I get the door open.”
Ace didn’t wait for her response as he jumped out the vehicle and sprinted up the stairs onto the wooden patio. He followed it around to the back of the cabin where he located the grill and wrenched the lid up. Success! He grabbed the small silver keys and ran to the front. The rain made his hands slippery but he managed to insert the key into the lock and shove the door open. Getting back to the car he opened the back door, grabbed his bag and then went to assist Jennifer. Whipping off his jacket, he held it over her head while she clambered out. The rain had him soaked, but at least she was somewhat protected. They awkwardly staggered up to the house in their formation and got inside, he kicked the door behind them. Flicking the switch to the side, the lights flickered to life and glowed off the polished wood.
It was a really nice cabin which had recently gone through a modern rustic remodel. It had two spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large loft which was used as another guest room. It would have been perfect for a summer party but right now it was even more useful as a hideout. The downstairs was all open-plan and he watched as Jennifer walked through to the kitchen and tentatively placed her backpack on a granite counter top. She continued to look around in awe at the vaulted cedar ceilings and gorgeous hardwood floor. While she was distracted, he slipped the Glock into his gym bag, there wasn’t a threat of imminent danger here. He felt his chest swell up in pride at the improvements they had made to the beaten up cabin, they had bought many years ago.
“It’s beautiful here,” she cawed as she ran her hand over the Hickory cabinets, “Absolutely stunning.”
“It’s decent enough. I enjoy spending time here with my brothers. I hope it’s not too claustrophobic for you?”
She turned to him, “Are you kidding? I don’t want to leave this place! It reminds me of my parents’ place in Ireland. It’s so peaceful.”
The contentment on her face made his pulse race as he took in the glamorous star enjoying the remote cabin away from all her induced fame. When she turned to look out the double doors leading out to the decking, the light highlighted her profile and he knew he couldn’t stay away any longer. The emotions which had been a whirlwind of a ride all day and he just wanted for her to feel some comfort, take her away from her worries for a bit.
He got to her in two steps and spun her round to face him. With one hand behind her head, he pulled her forward and pressed their lips together. Her eyes widened at first before closing in pleasure and melting into his body. He could smell the coconut from her shampoo and the sharp tang of mint from her newly brushed teeth. Her body felt so small in his arms as he gripped her tightly, afraid she might break from the need he felt towards having her. Electricity bounced between them as their mouths meshed together and their hands fumbled clumsily at clothing. Without noticing, his vest had disappeared and her hoodie flung over a dining room chair. He kicked the chair to the side and barely noticed as it bounced across the hardwood flooring. Heat building up in his groin, he lifted her and flung her onto the sturdy dining table. She squealed in delight as he yanked at her sneakers, lobbing them over the armchair opposite. Next came off the yoga pants and her tank top. She lay like a delicious dessert ready to be devoured in just her lingerie. Fire flared in her eyes as he pounced upon her, biting into her lips, trailing his tongue down her neck first and then reaching the concla
ve of her throat. She moaned as he expertly reached behind her, unhooking her bra in a single flick. Her face gave away that she was impressed.
“Haven’t had a man do that so easily before…” she murmured.
He didn’t have time for small talk, as he leaped upon her exposed breast, sucking a tender nipple into his mouth. He gently nipped on the bud and sloshed it around until it was swollen and hard. Just like his cock. Turning his attention to the other, he gripped at her forearms, holding her down playfully as she groaned. Time to return the torture she had enforced on him. He teasingly placed small kisses down her stomach, biting her belly button before reaching the edge of her panties.
“Don’t stop,” she breathed.
“Didn’t plan on it, baby.”
Hooking a finger under the elastic, he wrenched them down and tossed them behind him. She’s going to have a fun time collecting her clothing afterwards. At least I get to watch her run around naked. The thought made him smile as he blew hot air onto her clit. Her breathing got heavier as he rolled it between his thumb and finger. Then he dove upon her fleshy mound with his mouth. His tongue darted in and out of her vagina, all the while toying with her clit. The labia was soaked with saliva as he continued relentlessly sucking and licking. She screeched with pleasure as he drove her to the precipice. Not so fast, little lady. You left me high and dry last time, it’s my turn this time.
As her body begun to tense at the impending orgasm, he pulled away and gave her a smug smile before undoing the buttons of his jeans and tugged down his boxers in one fell swoop. Her mouth fell open in being denied what would have been, she was convinced, an earth-shattering orgasm. Kicking his pants to the side, he positioned himself between her legs. His penis slid in easily with the amount of spit he had left in the area and she gasped as he pushed forward, filling her tightness. The slap of skin kept rhythm as he pounded into her, getting stronger with each thrust. Soon her tender mewls turned to outright screaming as he drilled her mound. Her wetness kept them lubricated and he could feel her juices running down his balls and dripping down the inside of his thigh. The squelching turned him on more and soon he was toppling over the edge. His eyes clenched tight for the few fleeting moments as his load pumped into her. He threw his head back and tried to steady his breath, gripping onto her raised knees for support.
When he opened his eyelids, she was staring at him in mock anger.
“Is that how you get your revenge for last time? You mean bastard!” she shoved herself backward and his cock sprung loose with a satisfyingly wet pop.
He grinned boastfully, “Next time don’t be selfish then. At least I quite enjoyed it.”
“I can’t say I disagree with that,” she giggled as she climbed off the dining table leaving just a sweaty outline behind.
When she stood upright she was right in front of him and her hot breath mingled with him. Without thinking, he bent forward and kissed her. It wasn’t anything sexual, a genuine kiss. It seemed to surprise her and she pulled back looking at him inquisitively. All words seemed to escape his mind and, confused, he shook his head. Why did you kiss her, you idiot? Don’t get too close….
Not hearing the internal argument inside his head, Jennifer started searching for her clothes strewn around the room. Every time she found an item she waved it over her head proudly. He couldn’t keep his eyes off her flawless body as she bounced around the cabin. At least he didn’t have to worry about someone seeing her through the windows as it was set back against a green belt for ultimate privacy.
“Erm, I’m a bit sticky. Can you show me to the bathroom by any chance?” she appeared to have found all her missing items.
Ace laughed then nodded, “Follow me. I wouldn’t want you getting glued together with my cum.”
“That’s disgusting, you filthy animal!” she poked him in the chest.
“I can’t take you seriously right now. You look like a tiny naked fairy compared to me,” Ace pulled on his jeans, not bothering to cover his exposed chest.
The cold from the slate tile entry bit into his bare feet as he led her to the stairs. Once up, he showed her to the family bathroom so that she could clean up. He dug a fresh towel from the linen cupboard which she accepted gratefully. After he didn’t move from the room, she looked up at him.
“If you think you’re getting in the shower with me, you’ve got another thing coming, you perv!” she shoved him playfully.
Her tiny body had minimal impact on his body and he barely swayed. He laughed before giving in, leaving the bathroom and closing the door behind him. He waited at the door until he heard the shower turn on before heading back down.
He wiped down the dining table and placed the upturned chair back in its place. Opening the patio door, he stepped out into the rain. It had turned into a misty drizzle at this point. The wooden decking was slippery under his feet but he trod carefully as he circled the house. He looked out through the trees, trying to spot any movement. It was dark in places, enough to conceal a figure if need be but something told Ace that they were safe out there. After all, he didn’t see anyone following them when they were driving and there would be no way, that someone could guess they would be out here!
Drops trickled down his chest as he went back inside, locking the door in place behind him. Better safe than sorry. He wandered over to the kitchen and scanned the cupboard and refrigerator. Other than a few stray cans, they were out of food and he would need to stop at the store to get supplies. The nearest convenience store was about 20 miles away, so he could pop over while Jennifer was settling in. He brought the bags to their separate rooms upstairs, dug out some clean linen and began making up her bed. The metal frame creaked slightly under his weight as he adjusted the sheets which must have been what alerted Jen to his whereabouts. He heard her footsteps muffled on the carpet as she entered the room.
“Oh, you didn’t have to. I could have made the bed myself, you know. I’m not completely useless,” she joked.
“You’re a guest in my cabin and I shall treat you as such. Anyway, I was thinking that you could take some time to settle in here while I go do some grocery shopping. We’re completely washed out of food.”
Jen looked uneasy, “You sure it’s okay to leave me alone here. I don’t mind coming with you!”
Ace smiled, “Stop worrying about everything. Nobody followed us here and there’s no chance he would know where to go. Only my brothers, the twins and possibly David knows our whereabouts right now and none of them would be willing to give it to your stalker. I’ve got your mobile still on me by the way, I’m going to take it with me.”
He fished the phone from his pocket and waved it around.
“Oh, I thought I had left that back at the house. I was hoping to have some time away from it, to be honest. Why do you want to take it with you though? You won’t find the asshole’s number on there, he keeps it blocked whenever he calls or texts me.”
“I know, but if he calls then I need to hear everything he says from now on. He might slip up and reveal something about his identity which I can trace back.”
“Ah, I understand. Smart thinking. I should have thought of that, but my mind goes to mush every time he calls. I just have this chilling fear creep up on me,” she shuddered at the thought, “I hope you don’t think I’m being too needy, but I’d much rather go with you to the store. Your presence comforts me.”
“Well, I can’t really say I’m averse to your presence and at least you won’t have to put up with my dietary choices. I’m not really one for vegetables. I’m more of a meat kind of guy,” he laughed.
Jen looked practically horrified, “Well, if we are going to be living up here for however long then I definitely need to change that! It’s high time we introduced you to a healthier lifestyle!”
“Fat chance,” Ace scoffed.
“Well, let’s see about that,” she said with a smile.
After they were both fully dressed and had footwear on, they sprinted out to the car a
nd climbed in. The drive was peaceful and for once Ace felt relaxed. He looked over and smiled. Maybe there are worse things than getting close to Jennifer Jacobs.
Chapter 10
JENNIFER
Humming away, Ace flipped the burgers on the grill and smiled at her contently. The sun warmed her skin as she laid the plates out on the patio table. She looked out into the greenery surrounding them and sighed. It was so peaceful here. Birds sung in the treetops and she spotted a wild rabbit hopping between bushes. I wish I could stay here forever. Just freeze us in time, happy and alone in our own little bubble. Our own little world out in the wilderness.
Ace slapped the burgers on a heaped plate and bought the steaming pile over to the table. She had purposely ensured there was a green salad placed firmly in the middle. He eyed it suspiciously before wiping his greasy hands on his apron and plonking himself in the wooden seat. Before he could argue, she chucked some salad on a plate and handed it to him. With a sigh, he accepted and dinner was ready to start.
The burger was juicy and warmed her mouth as she bit through the bun. As usual, Ace wolfed down a portion built for an elephant. She giggled as grease dribbled down his chin. The last couple of days had been blissful in the cabin and the way things were going, she wouldn’t mind it continuing like this for longer. She hadn’t received anything from her stalker since she had moved out into the woods, and the fear was just a niggling thought stuck at the back of her mind.
Leaning over, she wiped the oily trail from his face with a napkin. He jokingly swatted at her and went back to eating. For some reason, even the simplest of activities such as cleaning his face made butterflies flap excitedly in her stomach. What is this man doing to me?
After the meal, they sat back in their chairs contently and stared out into the growing shadows. Jennifer lit a couple of candles and the glow from the flame flickered across their faces as it got darker. They had developed into comfortable silence between them, just appreciating the moment they were living in. She looked across to him.
