“Elijah, did you use your five senses when you visited history?” Grandma questioned. “What do you mean?” he asked. “What did you see, hear, taste, smell and feel?” Grandma asked.
“I heard the sound of the marching fife and drum band and the stories people told. I ate fry bread, eggs, bacon, soup and roasted pig.”
“Don’t forget the cookie that I gave you from the tea,” Emma said.
Elijah continued, “I smelled the campfire smoke and the food cooking. I felt my muscles when I pushed the big cart and the wet grass when I went barefoot. I saw lots of stuff. It was superior. You are superior for helping to bring us here.”
Grandma laughed. “Thanks. My grandchildren are superior, too.”
Elijah said, “Now, it is time for me to say goodbye to my friends.”
When you visit historic places and reenactments –
What would you like to see?
What would you like to hear?
What would you like to taste?
What would you like to smell?
What would you like to touch?
