Player of Life (Perception Book 4) Page 26

by Shandi Boyes

When Emily called requesting for me to make contact with my parents on behalf of Jacob, I was hesitant, until she explained what had happened. Jacob is a great guy, he has always been there for Noah and Emily so I agreed to do anything within my power to help him.

When I first called my dad he sounded pleased to hear from me. I was probably a little short and stern with him. My anger only lessened after he agreed to help Jacob free of charge. Once he had Jacob out on bail, he arrived at the house I shared with Nick. I was shocked and surprised and the tears streamed freely down my face when I wrapped my arms tightly around his shoulders. When Nick walked into the room holding Jasper in his arms, my dad’s faced morphed into complete confusion. His eyes darted between Nick, Jasper and I. That is when I realised he had never been told about his own grandson.

“I thought you left as you were angry at me” he replied when I explained to him about everything that had happened.

My dad informed me that he and my mom had separated not long later after I found out he wasn’t my biological father. Supposedly my mom was only with my dad for my benefit, and since I knew the truth she didn’t see the need to continue with the lie any longer. My heart broke for my dad; I could see how much he still loved her. But I was ecstatic to have him back into our lives and now instead of being the world’s best dad, he is the world’s best grandad, along with Harrison

Nick and I still haven’t got married. Since the band had one of the longest number one selling albums of all time, life just got too hectic. I know that Nick loves me and he knows that I love him so for the time being that is enough for us. Our children are the strongest bond we have, they tie us together for eternity, not a piece of paper.

My hospital door creaks and Isaac enters the room confidently, even though he is holding a giant pink teddy bear. Things have been a little strained between Nick and Isaac the past two years. I have tried to talk to Nick about it a few times, but he assures me that there is nothing wrong and that is just the type of relationship they have. There is one thing I will say about Isaac, he is stern, a little scary at times, but he is a fantastic uncle. He loves Jasper like he is his own son and I’m sure he will love Harper just as much.

Now that Isaac has arrived, everyone that has an important part in our life is all in the one room. Emily and Noah are sitting in one corner trying to wrestle Jasper off Maddison. He loves her so much that anytime she is near him, he pretty much suffocates her with kisses. Slater, Marcus, Hawke and Nicole are all talking in the other corner. Harrison, Aunt Dee and my dad Michael are deep in conversation near Harper’s crib, no doubt sharing grand parenting tips. Even Lola and Jacob are here. Ok, it is hard for me to admit, but I had misjudged Lola. Once I found out everything she did for Jacob, I realized she wasn’t quiet the bitch I thought she was. Does that mean we are best friends? No, we aren’t. But I would definitely class her as a friend.

But the most important person in the entire room is Nick, my ultimate rule breaker. I will be forever grateful for the day that I let my heart overrule my head. He completes me, he is my other half and I couldn’t imagine my life without him.

He must notice my intense gaze as his eyes lift from looking at Harper in his arms to me. He smiles his trade mark panty combusting grin and winks seductively at me.

Putty, I’m nothing but putty, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

  Acknowledgments

Thank you to all the wonderful people that have supported me in my new endeavour. I’m extremely grateful to have been blessed with such wonderful family and friends.

The time and effort it takes in writing a book is immense. You sacrifice your family, your hobbies and yourself to produce a book that you hope your readers can enjoy. If you have enjoyed this book, please leave a review. A review is the only way you can truly thank an author for all the effort they put in.

Not many people are aware, but I am a mother of five. I have four boys and one little daughter. I would never be able to produce these books without the support of my husband. He comes home from working ten hour plus days and showers the children and gets them ready for bed, never once saying a negative word. He is my rock, my inspiration and my everything. We also have ‘story time’ every night, where I read him what I had wrote for the day. Isn’t he lucky?

Also thanks to my mum Carolyn, for reading and assisting me when I call you crazily saying a scene isn’t working. I appreciate everything you do.

Once again, thank you for your support and messages. I read every single message. Please leave a review and I will see you on the flip side.

  Cheers
