“Nah, come on, grab your drinks, let’s go.”
We get to the table and put down the drinks, Blake moves a stool and puts it in front of me. After the introductions, I listen to the banter going on between Jack and him, while at the same time thinking how comfortable I am around him, I haven’t acted like myself for a long time, but Blake makes me feel more natural and the old Lex, not this insecure version of myself. I used to be happy, confident until Paul made me into this.
I hear Blake laughing, and I can’t help but smile, it’s so husky and manly, and I need to hear it again. I lean over towards to Amelia, “Are they always like this?”
“Oh yes, they’re always teasing each other, but I love Blake to bits, he’s more like a brother to me than a friend.”
“Aww, that’s lovely,”
“God help us when this baby is born with those two.” I look at her surprised.
“You’re pregnant, how far along are you?”
“Almost four months now,” she smiles. She looks so happy.
“Oh, that’s wonderful, congratulations to you both,” She leans across, gives me a hug and says thank you. I empty my glass and try and hide a yawn.
“I think it’s time we made a move, I’m knackered, and I wanna try and get some sleep before Grady wakes up,” I say to Becka.
“Yeah okay, I’ll go ring a taxi, be right back,” I hear Amelia call out to Becka and she offers to drop us off home.
On the way out of the pub Blake puts his hand in the small of my back and it feels so good. I don’t know whether he feels me tense up, but he doesn’t show it if he did. It’s been so long since anyone has shown me any proper attention, I don’t know how to handle it.
We get out of the car at my building, and Becka tells me she’s going to carry on into Mason. Blake and me talk quietly, and he tells me he was really pleased I was there. We swap numbers and tells me he’ll text me tomorrow. I see him lean into me, my breathing quickens - oh my god, he’s gonna kiss me!
He kisses my cheek really softly, so I can barely feel anything, he pulls away, my lips are so dry. I lick my lips, I watch his eyes darken, and he presses his lips to mine, I press mine back against his softly. He lips taste sweet and so soft. His breathing deepens too, and we pull away at the same time.
“Bye Blake,” I walk away towards my entry door, he tells me he’ll text me tomorrow, I wave bye and carry on towards the door. I unlock the security door and enter, and I stand and watch him get back in the car and leave. I let a huge breath out and touch my lips, I smile and carry on the flat.
I walk in and say hi to Becka and Mason when I see them sitting together on the settee.
“Spill!”
“How’s Grady?”
“Sleeping! Now spill.” Becka says. I go into the kitchen to put on the kettle.
“You want a drink?”
“Don’t change the subject and, no I don’t,” I turn off the kettle and get a glass of water instead.
“Come on, you’re killing me here, what did he say?”
“He told me he’ll text me tomorrow,” I blush. “He also kissed me…”
“Ahhhh, really? “she asks excitedly.
“Becka, it was so sweet, I…I like him.”
“Good why shouldn’t ya, he’s gorgeous, he’s got a great sense of humour, he’s fit, and I think he…”
“You talking about me again, ladies?” Mason enters the kitchen, and Becka shakes her head at him and goes to him and kisses his lips.
“Not this time babe, you ready to go home?”
“Of course,” and grabs her bum. I clear my throat.
“Hello guys, do you mind, woman who hasn’t had decent sex in years standing here. Go home. Mason thanks for watching Grady for me.”
“He’s no trouble whatsoever, he slept all night,” he leans over and kisses my cheek. He grabs Becka’ hand and pulls her out of the kitchen.
“Say bye to your friend, because I’m taking you home and locking you in the bedroom.”
I laugh at the pair of them, I hear Becka squeal and shouts bye friend, and they’re out of the door. I go to the door and lock it after them, as I walk to my bedroom and get ready for bed.
Once I’m in bed I lay awake for a while with all thoughts of Blake running through my head, I really like him, he makes me feel wanted again and important, not like the useless, ugly housewife that Paul made me feel like.
It takes me ages to go to sleep, I toss and turn for what feels like the best part of the night, when I finally feel myself relax, it’s because there’s an intense pair of deep blue eyes and very kissable lips that are on my mind.
BLAKE
I sit in the back of Jack and Amelia’s Range Rover with a huge grin on my face.
“Hey, Romeo, are you okay back there.”
“Yep, thanks mate.”
“You’re like a fourteen-year-old boy, that’s just had his first-hand job,”
“I don’t think I smiled this much even then, and I think I was thirteen, not fourteen,”
“That’s because you were a dirty little bastard.” I smile at him smugly.
“Yeah well I also remember someone being my wingman, even at that age.” Jack looks back at and puts a finger over his lips and tries to shush me, I snort at him.
Amelia looks out the corner of her eye at us, “I can see you two you know,” Jack leans across to her and kisses her cheek.
“I love you, baby,” I laugh out loud at that little gesture,
“You creep!” I shake my head at him, we shoot the shit for rest of the journey back, when we pull up outside my house, I get out and say bye to them both, kiss Amelia on the cheek and walk up the drive to my door.
I go straight to the kitchen pour a glass of water and let Max out. Once he’s done his business, I lock up and head upstairs. I undress and get into bed, exhausted. I lie there, I haven’t stopped thinking about Alexia since I left her at her building. The way she tenderly pressed her lips against mine. I playback the night in my head. The sweet glances and the way she looked at me right at me in those rare moments, when she stared right into my eyes, my head is full of images of her.
Her long brunette hair, I’d love to wrap it around my hand, pull her head back gently and shower her with kisses from her sexy mouth, all the way down her slim neck. I can feel myself getting hard again, I’ve been like a walking hard-on all night. I grab my dick and release it from my boxers, I squeeze, hoping it will stave off some desperation; it doesn’t. I slide my hand from base to tip until it’s so hard, it may break. I see those eyes looking up at me as I imagine her sliding down my torso, with her mouth, and before long I’m shooting my load all over my hand and my stomach.
Fuck, that was intense.
I go into the bathroom and jump in the shower to clean myself up. I spend five minutes standing under the spray and washing until I’m thoroughly refreshed. I towel off and go to bed, yet again with Alexia in my head.
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
ALEXIA
I wake up to a voice, a very sweet one in my ear.
“Mummy, tea,” I smile, but it’s getting louder in my ear, I turn over and look straight into the cot.
“Good morning, baby boy.”
“Up,” he standing in his cot holding his arms out to me.
“Ahh, come on then.” I get out of bed and lift Grady from the cot, I give him a kiss as I lift him and we go into the kitchen to put the kettle on.
I put him on the settee while I go to make us a cup of tea, I can hear my phone ringing from the bedroom. I run back to the bedroom to get it before it rings off, it’s Becka.
“Hey, he let you out of the bedroom then?” I ask laughing.
“Morning sunshine, yeah he did, he had a call from a client he couldn’t get out of, he’s an important client.”
“That sucks.”
“Yeah. It does. I’m after a favour.”
“Shoot,”
“You know I have to work today, well I don’t know what
time Mase is going to be finished and mum can’t keep the girls, any chance you can have them?”
“Yeah, of course, you know that. Bring them here around eleven, I’m just going to do some cleaning first.”
“You’re a gem, will do, love you.”
“Love ya too.” I hear the phone click. When my screen returns to the home screen, I see a missed text. I open it up.
Blake - Good morning, gorgeous.
Me - Good morning yourself.
I set about making some breakfast for Grady and me and exchange some texts with Blake and start cleaning up. I’ve breezed through most of the morning on some kind of high after Blake text me, I never knew I could feel like this again, he makes me feel lighter like the world isn’t against me.
By the time I’ve made the bed and put the hoover around the intercom rings, it’s Becka and the girls. I open the door for her, I open the front door, and the girls come bounding through the door.
“Hey, thanks for this honey,” she pulls me towards her and gives me a one - armed hug, “It’s fine, anytime, you know that!”
“Right I need to get going, I’ll see you later. Girls be good for Aunty Lex. Bye.” Becka stands in the doorway waiting for a response.
“We will. Bye,” the girls shout back but to be honest they’re more interested in Grady. He’s lapping up the attention. Becka leaves with shake of her head and muttering under breath.
The sun is shining, Grady‘s throwing his toys everywhere, Lauren is sitting on the floor watching cartoons and Madison is running around picking up Grady’s toys for him just so he can throw them again.
“Grady, no,” I say to him, but he just carries on with a devilish look on his face.
“You little monster,” I tell him. I need to get out.
“Right, who wants to go to the park?”
“Yay, we do.” Lauren and Madison both jump up, and I put Grady in his pushchair, and we head out of the door.
BLAKE
I roll over in bed, the light is shining in through the curtains. I take a look at my phone and smile a little to myself. There is only one thought in my mind right now; Alexia.
I open the message icon and start typing,
Me - Good morning, gorgeous.
I wait, when I think I’m not going to a reply, my phone vibrates.
Lex- Good morning yourself. - Lex
Me - How are you feeling this morning.
Lex- I’m good, thanks, tired, though.
Me - Aww, didn’t you get much sleep?
Lex- Not really.
Me - So, are you doing much today?
Lex- I’m cleaning.
Me - Wow! The original Cinderella…lol
Lex– Funny haha.
Me - I’m sorry. Ok coffee is calling, then I need to go for a run.
Lex- It’s fine, lucky for you I can take a joke…;)
Me - Good to know ;) I’ll text u later. Bye, gorgeous.
Lex - Bye. Speak later.
I drop the phone on the bed with a stupid grin on my face, go for a piss and then go down to the kitchen and put the coffee maker on, I’m gonna need some strong coffee today. I sit at the island and eat some toast with another mug of coffee and decide to go for a run. I change into some shorts and a t-shirt, grab Max’s lead, and we head out towards the park.
It’s almost lunchtime, we’ve walked the length of the park, and I’m knackered. We sit on the grass and have a drink of water, good job it’s a nice day today. Once Max has laid down for 10 minutes he finds a stick and brings it to me, I throw the stick for him and watch where it lands, he runs to fetch it, but stops where he is, I can see two young girls approaching him, I call his name, but he doesn’t come back. I get up and jog to before the girls can reach him and clip his lead to his collar. With Max being a Rottweiler it’s better to be safe than sorry, he’s only 18 months old, so he’s still a puppy but also very bouncy and playful. I make sure to have a hold of his lead securely so he can’t jump up them and knock them over.
“Girls, don’t stroke dogs.” I hear Alexia shout to the girls, but they’re too interested in Max to take any notice.
“Hey Cinderella,” I smirk, “I thought you were cleaning today.”
Alexia smiles shyly and responds, “Yeah, well, even Cinderella got sick of cleaning, and the weather’s so nice it’s a shame to miss it and keep Grady indoors.”
I smile at her pretty face and squat down, “You must be Grady, Hello little buddy,” I say to Grady, “and who are these gorgeous girls?” I ask.
“Ah, Lauren and Madison, Becka’s daughters. Becka and Mason both have to work today, so I thought I’d return the favour from last night,” replies Alexia. She turns her head away from me, it looks like that shyness has come back again.
“Hi, I’m Blake,” I say to the curious looking girls.
“Um, we were just thinking of going to get an ice cream from the van, would you like to join us?” Lex asks me shyly.
“Aunty Lex, who’s he?”
“Don’t be rude, Lauren. He’s just a friend sweetie,” I like the sound of that.
“So ice cream? You don’t have to, it’s just suggesti…” I cut her off again, “I’d love to Lex,” I watch her colour rise in her cheeks. I watch her try and secretly release the breath she was holding, I smirk and turn to the girls and grab max’s lead and we start to walk to the ice cream van.
“Ah, shit!” I cover my mouth with my hand, I say sorry to Lex, she’s chuckling quietly, I feel a hand tugging on my t-shirt.
“Our mummy says that all the time, it’s okay.” I smile at her.
“Lauren, am I right?” She nods her head, “I’m sorry, it slipped out.” I look to Lex, and she still thinks it’s funny.
“I haven’t got my wallet,”
“Oh no, that means you’ll have to owe me an ice cream,” she looks at me innocently.
“I guess I will. That means I need to see you again so I can pay you back,”
“I guess it does,” she walks toward the van with a more confident stride with Grady and the girls and gets five cornets.
She walks back toward me after being served and hands me one and tells me to enjoy, with a wink. We walk towards a bench so the girls can sit down and eat their ice cream and we chat a little. By the it’s time to part company I feel a bit bereft.
“So I suppose I better take Max home, I think I’ve worn him out,” Lex bends down, strokes his head and in return he licks her,
“Aw, he’s gorgeous and so friendly,”
“He is, he’s good with kids too,” the girls are patting him, and he sniffs around Grady’s hands. “Max, no,” he stops and sits back down.
“Thanks for the ice cream. Can I see you again?”
“Well, Mr Davids, you’ll have to see me again,” she looks so confident in this moment, “you owe me ice cream, remember.” She beams at me and raises an eyebrow. I lean across and kiss her on the cheek, again.
“Bye Lex,” I whisper to her, I hear her breathing quicken up,
“I’ll speak to you later,” I say bye to the girls and Grady, I wave to him until he waves back. I take another look at Alexia, and her hand is covering her cheek where I kissed her. She’s smiling, I turn and tell Max to heel, and we go home.
ALEXIA
I stand in the middle of the park, reeling from spending some spontaneous time with Blake, even if the kids were here too, it was nice. I cover my cheek with my hand, these little kisses are going to drive me mad.
“Girls, are you ready to go yet, it’s almost one o’clock, shall we go and grab some lunch?”
“Yeahhhh,” the girls excitedly shout in unison. I decide to take them to MacDonald’s as a treat. While we’re in there Lauren, being the inquisitive one that she is asks who Blake was.
“Aunty Lex, who was that man?”
“It’s just someone I’ve met, a friend, why?”
“Just asking, he’s nice. I like him.”
“That’s good to know. Because so do I.
” I smile at her. I love how kids can just latch on to someone they like. I’ll admit, Lauren is very meticulous with who she speaks to, I don’t think she ever spoke to Paul voluntarily, it’s like she knew he was a bad seed, yet she didn’t see much of us.
Once they’ve eaten their lunch, we head back for home. I get a call on the way back from Mason to say he’ll pick up the girls about four o’clock. We get in the flat, Grady is worn out and fast asleep in his pushchair, so I leave him in there for a while, he’ll be grouchy if I move him. The girls sit on the sofa and ask to put a film on, so I put Finding Nemo on. Madison loves that one.
I go to the kitchen to make a cuppa and my phone rings. I retrieve it from my bag and take it in the kitchen to answer it, so I don’t disturb the girls. I take a look, and my heart speeds up a little; Blake.
“Hey there.”
“Hey gorgeous, are you ok?” Every time he calls me gorgeous I feel my tummy do a little somersault.
“Yes thanks, how are you?”
“I’m bored, I hate Sundays! How was the park?”
“It was good, the kids enjoyed it, then I took them to MacDonald’s for lunch,”
“I bet they loved that!”
“They did, how was your walk?”
“It was good but even better when I bumped into you,” I’m smiling at my phone like some sort of lunatic.
“Really?” I ask softly.
“Yeah, really. In fact, are you doing anything tonight? I’d really like to see you again.”
