Can't Forgive You (Second Chance Diaries Book 2) Page 22

by Emma Vikes

“Hey Olivia!” Clara greeted me with a smile. She was looking at me with narrowed eyes, then she let out a small sigh and brought me to the side.

People were already climbing in the yacht, ready to party.

Clara was the first one that I bumped into. “We need to talk.”

My eyebrows furrowed. “I already won the case for Logan. I don’t think there’s anything we need to talk about.”

Clara shook her head. “Oh sweetheart, we have a lot to talk about. Logan told me everything and had I known all of this beforehand, I wouldn’t have let you be his lawyer.”

I pursed my lips and crossed my arms across my chest. “But if it wasn’t me, how certain are you that you would’ve won the case?”

“Point taken,” Clara said, conceding. “And I’m not having this conversation with you to pick a fight. Since you’re Amy’s mother, I just wanted to know what means of delivering this news to the public would be comfortable with you.”

Her statement took me off-guard. “Oh—I-I think it’d be best if I discuss it with Logan. I’ll make sure that he’ll let you know as soon as possible.”

Clara stared at me for a moment and then smiled, shaking her head a little. “Sorry. It’s just…it’s a lot to process but it’s best that it’s with you. I must say, I didn’t think I’d ever get to say goodbye to having to handle Logan’s wild dating life but I think it’ll end soon.”

I bit at my lower lip. “Don’t be so sure, Clara. I’m sure Logan will end up dating some model or actress soon.”

She rolled her eyes. “There’s a room downstairs and he’s still there. You should tell him that we will sail soon and he should be with everyone.”

“You sure you want me to call him over and not you?”

“Oh trust me, you’re the one he wants to see. Just make sure that you get him up here or I’ll come down and get you two.”

I made a weird face at her but looked for the stairs and then headed down. There were two doors but the first one was a bathroom so I knocked on the other one. “Give me a sec!”

  “It’s me, Logan.”

A pause went by and then the door opened. Logan’s in his suit but he hadn’t closed a couple of buttons on his dress shirt. He grinned at me. “Hey, you. Clara pointed you in my direction?”

I nodded my head slowly and walked inside, surveying the small room. “She did. She asked me to come get you. You’re still not ready?”

He shrugged and then pointed at the laptop sitting on his bed. “My parents called and wanted to talk about how the case went. The conversation lengthened when I mentioned Amy.”

I bit my lower lip. “You seem to be telling a lot of people about Amy.”

“She’s our daughter,” Logan said quietly as he approached me. “I know, I should’ve checked in with you but I just don’t want to keep this big of a news to myself.”

Shaking my head, I flashed him a small smile. “It’s okay, Logan. She’s your daughter and you have every right to tell people about her.”

“Can I also tell people how I’m in love with you?”

My eyes locked with his. They held such genuine sincerity that it pierced through my heart. “Logan…”

But the rest of my words died on my lips when he leaned down to kiss me softly. It wasn’t a desperate kiss. There seemed to be no sense of urgency in the way he kissed me and held me as he pulled me close. He didn’t even force his tongue through my lips. His mouth moved gently against mine, almost feather-light.

When he pulled away and I opened my eyes and met his green ones, I could see the purity of his love for me. “I love you, Liv. I really, really do.”

“You broke my heart once,” I couldn’t help but whisper to him.

He sighed and there was such sadness in his eyes. “I was stupid. I was a jerk. But if you’ll let me, I’ll love you for the rest of this lifetime and even in the next. I’ll make sure that I never hurt you again, ever.”

My heart did a somersault and it was then that I couldn’t take it anymore. I had been falling in love with this man all over again and I was finally ready to jump off the cliff. I couldn’t fight my feelings anymore. I couldn’t rationalize with my heart either. The heart wants what it wants and mine wanted Logan. But rather than saying it back, I crashed my lips against his, backing him against the wall.

He let out a muffle of surprise when his back hit the door.

This time, our kiss was more urgent and filled with the intensity of our desire for each other. My hands fumbled with the remaining buttons of his shirt and I quickly pulled it from him.

Just then, the yacht shifted a little and something ‒or someone ‒hit the other side of the door.

“Shit,” the person behind the door cursed.

I froze. Logan’s lips were on my neck, inching down to my cleavage. His hands were all over my waist, his thumb caressing my skin through the thin fabric.

My eyes zeroed in on the door when I caught sight of the knob moving and I was quick to push Logan back to it.

  He hissed. “Ouch!”

I covered his lips with my fingers. “Someone’s on the other side.”

He nodded his head, eyes drunk with the sight of me, and continued to kiss my neck.

I pushed him away. “Logan, stop.”

He did, eyes still filled with desire.

I listened to the person behind the door and I was only met with silence.

“No one’s there anymore, Liv. Please.” His eyes had darkened when he said the word ‘please.’

My gaze momentarily flickered down to his crotch. His cock was straining against his black pants and I couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight. I reached into his pants and wrapped my hands around his dick.

  “Fuck,” he whispered heavily.

And then I heard it again, someone on the other side and I instantly let go.

Logan hissed under his breath. “Olivia, please.”

I could tell he was having a hard time trying to restrain himself and frankly, I wanted it as much as he did.

“We’ll be quiet.” He nodded at me.

Slowly, I went down on my knees, unbuckled his belt and pulled down his pants. His dick sprang right up and I sucked in a breath. It had been so long since I’d marvelled at the size and length of his cock. I wrapped my hands around him, moving it in a slow up and down rhythm.

  Logan swore under breath.

“The door,” I whispered, “lock it.”

Logan’s eyes were already half-closed. He leaned against the door, reached at the knob, and locked it. I heard him cuss above me as I squeezed his cock, massaged his balls, and then swallowed his entire length. Logan groaned and grabbed a fistful of my hair, guiding my head at a pace he wanted. I obeyed him, wanting to please him the way he deserved.

Pulling my mouth from of his cock, I began to suck on his balls while my hand worked on his shaft.

Logan kept muttering obscenities above me, a stream of curses followed by soft moans and groans then he released a loud gasp when my teeth grazed his cock.

I could feel his dick twitching, aware that he was near his climax. I let him come in my mouth, swallowing his entire seed without hesitation and without gagging.

Logan was breathless when I stood up, eyes darkened with desire as he grabbed me hastily to turn me around. He forced me to bend, pushed half of my dress to my waist, with my ass in his hands, and without warning, he pummelled his cock into me.

My hands were pressed against the door and I had to try to muffle my screams because I could hear people waiting outside the bathroom. My heart raced with excitement at the fact that people could find us at any minute. People finding us in such a compromising position, Logan Crewe fucking his lawyer. We would make headlines.

“Ahhmmm!” I muffled my scream with my hand. There were people above us and the last thing I wanted was to be heard.

Logan’s balls slammed against my ass, the slapping sound drowned against the music from the party.

“Oh god, yes, baby, yes!” I whispered.

“What was that sound?” a muffled voice said from the hallway.

I squeezed my eyes tight as Logan laughed from behind me.

“Fuck,” I muttered as Logan continued to thrust into me, my climax coiling in the pit of my stomach.

A sudden knock sounded on the door and it made me freeze.

“Logan? Are you still in there?” Clara’s voice floated into the room.

I expected Logan to stop but he didn’t… He continued to pound into me, my climax building. “Ye…yes!”

I could imagine Clara pursing her lips, aware of what was happening on our side of the door. “You two head right up, please. Everyone’s already looking for you.”

I was honestly mortified but Logan continued to thrust into me, my climax building up until I finally exploded. I had to bite my hand to muffle my scream and within moments, Logan followed right after me. We were both sticky and sweaty when he pulled out of me.

He wore a goofy smile on his face.

I couldn’t help but glare at him. “What the hell?”

He laughed. “Oh, please. You wanted it as much as I did. You never told me to stop, Liv.” Logan reached to touch my hair and then tucked it behind my ear.

Another knock came on the door again and I jumped in surprise.

“Please freshen up you two. Quick.”

  I couldn’t help but blush.

Clara was still on the other side and she must’ve been extremely aware of what just happened.

I couldn’t help but bury my head on Logan’s sweaty chest.

He laughed, wrapping his arms around me and hugging me tight. “So…” His voice trailed off.

I looked up at him, pouting.

“Does this mean what I think it does?” he asked.

It occurred to me that I never said the three words back to him. I just kissed him and it led to the two of us going at each other again. As I stared at Logan’s green eyes, I was reminded of the same eyes breaking my heart ten years ago. A part of me would probably always be scared of the idea that he might do it again.

But a bigger part of me was scared I was missing out on what could be the next best thing in my life other than Amy. “I love you, you silly fool. I think I never stopped either.”

  Epilogue

  Olivia

The wind blew at my hair and it felt like nature’s kiss. I was still trying to catch my breath. Hiking wasn’t my idea and I tried to think of an excuse to get out of it.

Amy and Logan were persistent and every time the two of them teamed up on me, no wasn’t an option. But I was glad they did because I didn’t want to miss the opportunity of watching the sunset.

We were in LA for a week. It was a quick vacation Logan spontaneously suggested two weeks ago. He wanted us to leave right that weekend, considering it was Amy’s summer vacation but I told him I couldn’t leave anytime. I had to file a vacation leave and have it approved and although, I knew that Logan wasn’t a fan of that process, he waited until I freed my schedule.

It had been six months since we won his case and four months since the three of us moved into one house together. Logan sold his mansion and I sold the house that Amy and I had lived in since we moved to San Francisco. Logan and I agreed to a decent looking house. It was still luxurious but it wasn’t as spacious as his old place.

Living with Logan and having him as a partner felt surreal. It was weird and awkward at the beginning because I wasn’t used to having someone to raise Amy with. There were a lot of fights and arguments but unlike when we were in college, Logan made sure we didn’t sleep angry at each other. The transition was a lot to handle but we made it work.

And to be honest, I couldn’t imagine how to raise Amy on my own anymore.

Behind me, I could hear Amy’s hysterical laughter followed by Logan’s booming laugh. When I turned around, I watched them chase each other. Sometimes whenever I watched them, I still felt a pang of regret. I felt bad that Logan didn’t get the chance to watch Amy grow up into the girl she was today.

But that didn’t mean he would never get to a chance to see his child grow up.

I placed a gentle hand on my belly. A week before our trip, I found out that I was pregnant. Well, Lacey and I found out that I was pregnant. I had mentioned to her that my period was late it was all she needed to hear. She practically dragged me to the nearest drugstore and would’ve gone in the toilet with me if I let her.

I’d been meaning to tell Logan all week but could never find the right moment.

  “Mom!” Amy called my attention.

I turned to look at her and she was staring at me with panic in her eyes.

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. When I searched for Logan, he seemed to be looking around for something. “Yes, sweetheart?”

Amy gazed down at her feet. “I think I lost an earring.”

I scratched my head. I remembered she wore the earrings my mother had bought her for Christmas. She loved them and only took them off when she left and put them back on first thing in the morning. It must be what Logan was looking for. I let out a sigh and placed my hands on her shoulders. “Don’t worry, sweetie, we’ll find it.”

The two of us searched for it until Logan called out that he’d found something. We rushed to where he was.

He was kneeling on the ground and had something shiny in his hand.

  “Logan, that’s a ring,” I stated.

He stared at it and then looked at Amy, taking her hand and slipping the ring onto her finger. “Well, it doesn’t fit you.”

His daughter giggled at his actions and shook her head at him. “I lost an earring, Dad.”

But Logan didn’t seem to hear what she said. Instead, he gingerly removed the ring from Amy’s finger and took my hand, sliding the ring onto my finger. “Oh look, it fits you perfectly.”

I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at his antics. “Logan, your daughter’s looking for a lost earring and the sun is about to set and we don’t have time for your joke—”

  “Marry me.”

Whatever words I meant to say suddenly died in my mouth with the two words that came out of his. I blinked, unable to process it.

Logan looked at me and then let out a nervous laugh. He was still holding my hand.

  I turned to Amy.

She was already holding Logan’s phone in her hand and taking a video of what was happening.

Behind us, the sun had finally begun to set, painting the sky in a gradient of orange, blue, and pink. “Logan…”

He squeezed my hand gently. “I love you, Liv, and I’ve loved you for a very long time. I let you go once and that will always be my biggest regret. I was a coward but the universe decided that I could redeem myself and have the courage to pursue love, to pursue you. And it’s always been you, Liv, no one else can compare to you. You’re the only one that my heart beats for, that my heart wants.” Logan stood up and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. His green eyes looked striking against the orange hue of the setting sun. “There might be a millions of roses in the whole world but you’re my only one, unique rose.” He was quoting his favorite book and my favorite line from it.

  “That’s my favorite line.”

“I know. You only highlighted it with a pencil about a thousand times,” Logan replied with a half-smile. He raised my hand up. “So what do you say? Will you marry me?”

I stared at the ring with its simple princess cut diamond. “I wish I knew a quote to make this even more romantic…” I bit my bottom lip, smiling up at Logan. “…but yes, I will, I will marry you.”

Logan cheered, placed both hands on my face, and kissed me gently. His lips were gentle against mine, soft and sincere.

I could feel the outpouring of the love he had for me in his kiss.

When we broke apart, Amy joined us, hugging both of us by the waist.

“Oh sweetheart, we never found your earring!” I suddenly remembered.

  Amy shook he
r head, grinning at me sheepishly. “We made that up. I hid my earring in my pocket. Dad didn’t know how to propose to you. He was at the point of considering a flash mob proposal if I didn’t intervene.”

Logan chuckled and pulled Amy closer to him. He kissed the top of her head. “You little tattletale! That’s supposed to be our secret.”

This time, it was my turn to grin. “Speaking of secrets, I have one of my own.”

The two of them looked up at me.

When they did it simultaneously, I was caught in surprise by how they resembled each other.

“What would that be?” Logan asked.

I placed a hand on my belly but neither of them seemed to get the message. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. “Let’s just say that we need to discuss whether we’ll have the wedding before or after I pop this one out of the oven.”

Logan’s eyes widened and he took a cautious step closer to me. He stared at my stomach. “You’re—you’re…?”

“About seven weeks,” I replied with a nod.

He then let out a small sound I couldn’t understand. It was somewhere between a gasp and a whimper as he pulled me into his arms and hugged me tight.

A moment later, I realized he was crying. “Why are you crying?”

He pulled away from me, wiping the tears from his eyes. “I just realized how I’ve always wanted too much in my life. I strived for the things that I have now and for the comfortable life I lead. I just…I never realized that I’d let the universe take it all away as long as I have you. You and Amy and the baby inside you… you’re all I ever wanted and all I’ll ever need.”

I couldn’t help but smile as Logan pulled me in for another hug. This time, he managed to pull Amy in to join us. As the three of us were cocooned in each other’s embrace as the sun continued to cast its warm orange glow on us.

One simple thought crossed my mind.

At the end of the day, this was what mattered for us. Each other.
