She Took My Heart and Went Crazy Page 14

“We ain’t even in no relationship, though.”

East paused and just looked at him. “Never will be. Goodnight.”

Killian watched her get out and walk towards Jaylen’s house. He contemplated stopping her to apologize but changed his mind. She might have had a point, but so did he. They weren’t in a relationship. Then, for her to tell him they never would be, what was the point of him working so hard? Fuck her. He’d been doing his best to soften up toward her, but if she was going to throw him away that fast, then he didn’t need her. He needed somebody who would at least fight for what he was willing to give.

  9. Lost in Him

“I don’t know why you keep saying that, Jaylen. I already told you one time that I’m fine.” East looked over at Jaylen, who was standing next to her marveling at the various nail polish colors in front of them.

With a quick roll of her eyes and a large smile, Jaylen grabbed the mint colored nail polish from the holder and walked to the pedicure station she’d been directed to. East could tell by the smile on her face that Jaylen didn’t believe anything that she was saying, but she’d better start because it was the truth.

For a few moments longer, East stood in front of the rack of nail polish trying to choose between the blue and the red. She’d thought about getting the blue to match her mood but changed her mind and chose red instead. With it tucked securely in her hand, she sashayed over to her seat and sat down next to Jaylen.

Jaylen grabbed East’s hand as soon as she sat down. “I promise you can tell me, cousin. I’m good at keeping secrets.”

“Jaylen, get your hand off me. I already told you it’s nothing.”

With a smile just as large as Jaylen’s, East turned her head and pulled her phone from her purse. She scrolled through her social media to buy herself some time for Jaylen to let it go, but she should have known better.

  “It’s Killian, isn’t it?”

East’s mouth fell open as she faced Jaylen. “Girl, nah. Why you say that?”

“Because you’ve been acting all cranky since you woke up this morning.” Jaylen flipped her hair over her shoulder in a Valley Girl kind of way. “I knew something was ailing you as soon as you came out of the room, but I didn’t say anything because I figured you would have had the decency to tell me, but I guessed wrong.”

Jaylen rolled her eyes at East.

“It’s not even like that. I was going to tell you, it just wasn’t anything to tell, for real.”

Jaylen waved East off and turned to face the lady clipping her toenails. “Darling, you can tell that lie to somebody else because I heard about you all last night.”

  East’s heart stopped.

“Heard what about us?” East’s head leaned closer to Jaylen. “With your proper talking ass. I heard about you all last night.” East mimicked Jaylen’s tone of voice.

“I did. Gabrion called and told me as soon as you and Killian left their house.”

East rolled her eyes. “Now, who told him to do that?”

“You know men gossip worse than women.”

  “Tell me about it.”

Jaylen propped her chin up in the palm of her hand. “No, you tell me about it.”

East smirked because it was just like Jaylen not to let it go until she was ready to. Versus continuing to run around in circles with her, she went into every detail, making sure to leave nothing out.

  “Oh my goodness.”

“Now you see why I’m mad?”

Jaylen nodded. “I do, but I still don’t think you should have told him you all will never be in a relationship. That was mean.”

East shrugged. “I was tired and drunk. I didn’t mean it for real, but Jaylen, I’m not about to fall for Killian, and he ends up playing me for one of these bitches. My heart ain’t set up like that no more.”

A comforting rub to her forearm came from Jaylen. “I know, that’s why I said don’t tell him that. I don’t know what woman it was, but Onyx told me some girl he was dating had broken him down pretty bad. I’ve been asking him about her since we met, but he never tells me.” Jaylen sighed. “They’re so secretive with it. I think it may be someone I know.”

East shook her head at Jaylen. Sometimes she was too naïve for her own good. “I’m pretty sure it’s your friend.”

  “Who? Sheena?”

  East nodded.

“I doubt it. She hates him.”

  “Why?”

Jaylen sat quietly for a moment. East watched her poor little Special Ed mind until she could no longer take it.

“Jaylen, you’re slow as hell. You don’t know why she hates him, but you refuse to believe it’s because they’ve dated before.”

“I’ve known her for a long time, though.”

“Well, obviously not long enough because she’s been keeping secrets from you.”

  “I don’t know, East.”

East didn’t even bother to try to make her understand. She’d let her have that until she was ready to face the fact that her best friend wasn’t really her best friend.

  “Just let it go.”

“I will, for now.” Jaylen’s smile returned. “Why don’t you just forgive him and have makeup sex like y’all did the first night at my house?”

Now it was East’s turn to smile. She was smiling extra hard too.

“I know why you’re smiling like that.”

  “You don’t know anything.”

“I do know because I heard y’all. When y’all had sex and when he was eating the box in the bathroom!”

East looked at Jaylen with wide eyes.

“Well, I guess I should say I heard you more than him. You were moaning excessively loud, cousin.” A joyful smirk adorned East’s face as she smiled at the glee in Jaylen’s face. “I didn’t know you had it in you, with your skinny self. Kill was moaning too. I heard him whenever you would shut your loud mouth up.”

East couldn’t even sit still as she listened to Jaylen recap her first sexual encounter with her new li’l boo. If that wasn’t bad enough, words made pictures, and Jaylen’s choice of conversation right then had East’s stomach flipping in a frenzy. Every time she saw Killian’s face in her mind, her body got jittery.

“Girl,” East covered her face with both hands. “You had to have been there.”

Jaylen spun in her seat giddily, nearly snatching her foot from the lady. “I wassssss.” Jaylen sighed. “I was up watching TV. I’d already put Onyx to sleep with this good, so by the time you and your young man got to it, I was wide awake.”

  “You really listened?”

Jaylen’s brown curls shook as she nodded. “Sure did, and I’m glad I did. I didn’t know Killian was like that. I mean, I figured the nigga could talk some shit because that’s all he does anyway, but to hear him talking nasty shit was mind-blowing, and sweetie pie, that bathroom rendezvous…” Jaylen shook her head dramatically. “I heard him telling you another nigga can’t kiss it like him and stuff.” Jaylen fanned herself. “I couldn’t have walked away if I wanted to.”

“I am so embarrassed for you right now. You nasty whore.” East laughed, and Jaylen joined in.

“I don’t know what I would have done had one of you walked out and caught me.”

“Had we caught you, you deserved to be caught because as hard as you were listening you should have heard us stop.”

Laughter flowed between the women as they continued getting their feet done.

“So,” Jaylen propped her face up in the palm of her hand again and peered at East. “What do you all plan to do now? Both of you are so mean, I don’t know how either of you ever plan to have a relationship.”

  “We’re not.”

“What do you mean you’re not? I just told you about this. You really should.”

East’s head immediately began to shake. “Nah, I really think I’m good on all that stuff, especially with that nigga. He’s so mean. He would probably break my heart and not even care. He’s only sweet when he’s getti
ng some ass.”

Jaylen fell out into a fit of laughter as East looked on oblivious to what was so funny. Killian’s attitude and her heartbreak were anything but funny. If she stayed around him too long, she would surely end up catching a case.

“He’s really not that mean, East. He’s a sweetheart once you get to know him.”

“Well, since I don’t plan on getting to know him any further, I’ll never know.”

“You really need to stop being like that.”

“Being like what?” East looked at her cousin indignantly.

“Mean. One of you has to be the nice one.”

East was just about to say something to her cousin when her phone began to ring. It was jackass. She started not to answer it but went ahead anyway.

  “Hello.”

“Aye, you took my ring last night.” Killian’s angry voice boomed through the line.

“Boy, fuck you. I ain’t took shit. I don’t steal.”

He sucked his teeth. “Yes, the fuck you do because you took my shit.”

“Boy, bye.” East hung her phone up and looked over at Jaylen. “You see what I’m saying? That was that fool accusing me of taking his ring. Why the fuck would I steal from him?” East shook her head. “I don’t have time for that nonsense, Jaylen.” East slammed her phone back into her purse. “Nigga ain’t even apologized yet but wants to call and clown.”

Jaylen was all laughs and giggles as she listened to East fuss and fume about Killian having her messed up. The rest of their pedicure went just about the same with Jaylen chiming in on Killian’s behalf as much as she could, but every time she did, East would come back with something harder.

By the time they’d gotten back to Jaylen’s house, East had somewhat calmed down, but the proper prep school girl she was related to by blood didn’t know how to leave well enough alone. Typical Jaylen. Always wanting to fix something.

“It’s just crazy to me how you hate him so much, but he’s been sexing you like a madman since you guys met.”

  “It’s easy.”

  “How so?”

East looked from Jaylen to the uniquely painted Audi parked in the driveway of her house. With a finger pointed at the bright red inspiration for her new nail color, East further annunciated her irritation.

“This nigga probably came way back over here to mess with me about that ring. I got time today Jaylen, I’ma fire his ass up if he comes at me the wrong way.”

“Well, you can go ahead and prepare yourself for that because all Killian does is come at people the wrong way.”

East sighed and opened the door to get out of the car. She stared at the front door for a minute trying to mentally prepare herself to deal with him before following Jaylen into the house. The atmosphere was quiet, minus the sound of the television.

As soon as they rounded the corner, she saw Onyx. He was laid back on the sofa watching the football game. Killian was nowhere in sight, and East almost felt some type of way. Onyx’s eyes came to them as he stretched and pulled the blanket up on his bare chest.

  “How y’all li’l date went?”

Of course, Jaylen’s face lit up at the sound of Onyx’s voice. East shook her head. She had never in her life seen two people more in love than those two. It literally didn’t take anything other than the sound of the other’s voice to make them happy. It was a cuteness overload, to be honest, but for them. East wanted no parts of that type of voodoo.

  “It was fun, baby.”

“It would have been better had your dumb friend not called my phone on that BS.”

Onyx laughed just as much as Jaylen. East couldn’t understand for the life of her why they kept laughing.

“Oh yeah, I forgot my boy said you stole his ring.” Onyx looked at Jaylen and nodded his head toward East. “Baby, East ain’t gon’ be staying here if she gon’ be stealing and shit. I got some jewelry up in there that she might like too.”

Jaylen and East both fell out laughing. East defended herself. “Nigga, please. I’ma tell you just like I told that fool. I don’t have to steal from him.

“What the fuck you do it for then?” Killian’s voice came out of nowhere, startling East.

Her body jumped before she turned to see him standing at the entrance of the hallway. His long arms and legs were stretched out as he leaned against the wall. His eyes low and a tad swollen as if he’d just woken up. He had a fitted cap hanging slightly off the back of his head as his eyes lazily trailed over her. Dark skin glistening, and curvy lips ajar as he carelessly allowed his tongue to tease the side of his mouth. His elongated frame taking up enough space to bring East closer to him.

“I don’t know how many times you want me to say I ain’t take your little ring. That shit is probably fake anyway.”

Killian’s nose twitched as one side of it rose in disgust. “Ain’t nothing fake but that nappy ass weave in your head.”

“You bastard.” East rolled her eyes. “This ain’t no damn weave.”

“So, you mean to tell me your real hair nappy like that?” Killian shook his head in disdain. “That’s a damn shame. You should have just let me keep thinking it was weave.” He walked past her, and his height overshadowed hers as he looked down at her like he was two seconds from knocking her out. No one would ever think they’d just been in fake love the night or days before.

East watched him as he walked to the same chair he’d been in the night before and laid back. “I want my damn ring back too. Either that or my money for it.”

“You’re going to have to get it in blood then because I promise you I ain’t giving you no money for nothing I didn’t take. You can bet your life on that.”

East folded her arms across her chest as she waited for him to say something, but he didn’t. Instead, he waved her off like a fly at a barbeque. She wanted so badly to walk over to where he was and slap the taste out of his sexy mouth, but with a dude like Killian, she would probably have to fight him, and she really didn’t feel like it right then.

“Let me go put my stuff down before I knock this child out,” East mumbled to herself but loud enough for everyone to hear her as she exited the living room.

Jaylen and Onyx both laughed for their own reasons. After tossing her purse onto the bed, East kicked her shoes off. When she was settled and pulling her shirt over her head to change, the door to her room opened. In walked the spawn of Satan with a frown on his face. This fool had some nerve.

East contemplated saying something to him, but once again, changed her mind. She didn’t even feel like playing with him right then. She was past sleepy, two seconds from being hungry again, and would slap the living daylights out of him if he kept trying her.

“Your last nigga left you because you a thot, didn’t he?”

East’s whole face frowned. “The hell you just say to me?”

“He got tired of your ass being a thot, didn’t he? Every time I come around you, you’re taking your clothes off and fucking.”

To say East was offended would be an understatement, but versus giving him the reaction she knew he was looking for, she didn’t even bother. Instead, she walked to the bed and flipped the covers back before grabbing her phone from the nightstand and sliding onto the soft mattresses.

“The fuck you getting in the bed for?”

Snuggled beneath the covers with only her eyes showing, East raised her eyebrows at him. “Killian, what do you need, honey? Because, obviously, you need something that you’re not getting. You’re acting like a damn child right now.” East sat up some so that she was leaning on her elbow. “You need a nap? A snack? Your fucking diaper changed? What? Tell me, so I can do it for you and send you on your way because you’re starting to make my head hurt.”

A small smile curved Killian’s lips as he stood leaning on the door handle. His eyes were on her as she stared at him waiting for an answer.

“You know you got a smart mouth.”

  “And?”

“And, you need to handle it
when you talking to me because I’ll hit your ass.”

East rolled her eyes before falling back down onto the pillow and pulling the covers over her head. Killian had problems that she could only deal with on a full stomach and a couple of more hours of sleep.

  “You finna go to sleep?”

“Yes, unless you want me to fix you some animal crackers and juice first.”

A low chuckle could be heard as she lay beneath the covers with her eyes closed. His laugh made her smile, but it disappeared when she heard the door close. East lay still for a few moments longer, unsure if he’d left or not. When the room became too quiet for her liking, she threw the covers back. He was leaning against the back of the door with his hands stuck deep into his pockets.

“Why you standing there like a creep?”

  “I need something.”

East raised her eyebrows in question, but he said nothing.

  “Well?”

Killian’s eyes lowered as he pulled his bottom lip between his teeth before removing his hat from his head. East watched him patiently with her heartbeat speeding up. She had a feeling she knew where this was going, but she wanted to hear him say it.

  “I feel like fucking.”

  Gotdammit!

“So. What you want me to do about that?” East did her best to sound indifferent.

“I feel like fucking you.” His voice was low as he began kicking his shoes off.

“Again, I’ma ask you, what do you want me to do about that?”

“Let me fuck you.” Killian stood to his full height and pulled his shirt over his head before giving her a look that could pull her panties off for her.

East’s body shivered at the tone of his voice and the magnitude that accompanied his words. With eyes filled with lust and panties full of water, East threw the covers off her body and sat up on the side of the bed. Her legs gapped open just enough for him to stand between them. She’d been missing him since she’d left him. She most definitely about to bust it open and let him take as much as he wanted.

“Come over here.” She summoned him seductively.

Killian strolled coolly to her as if under some sort of spell. His body was lazy but obedient as he filled the opening she’d left for him between her thighs. East’s hands went to both sides of his body immediately. She pulled him closer to her at the same time he grabbed both sides of her neck and tilted her head backward. His eyes bore into hers as she massaged his waist and back.
