I'll be Bad for You Page 5

by B. Love

Cupping his wrist, Denver tilted her head and rested on his palm. Her eyes closed as she confessed just above a whisper, “I love you too.” Symphony caught the tear that escaped her eye before it could roll down her cheek completely. “And I’m going to miss you. So much.”

“I’m going to miss you too. Look at me, D.” Her watery eyes opened. “You believe me, don’t you?”

“I do.” She kissed his palm before lowering it from her face. “I should really go, though.”

She leaped from his bed so quickly, there was no denying why she wanted to leave so abruptly. Symphony watched as she shoved her feet into her flats that were at the edge of his bed, feeling more helpless than he had in a while.

“Denver,” he called softly, rubbing his aching chest.

Goodbye wasn’t supposed to feel like this.

Ignoring him, Denver gathered her clothing out of the bathroom.

  “Den.”

Pushing her hair out of her face, she quickly walked out of his room, avoiding his eyes.

  “D.”

Symphony walked behind her slowly, opposed to her fast movement. When she was at the door and grabbing her pumps, Symphony wrapped his hand around her arm and lifted her body upright.

“Will you stop and talk to me?” he ordered, desperation thick in his voice.

  “No.”

“Why the hell not?” He grabbed her other arm and used both to pull her closer to him. “Why can’t you…”

“Because I’m about to break!” She hadn’t even gotten the words out fully before the tears were streaming down her face. “My heart is breaking at the thought of losing you, Alexander, and I can’t be around you right now.”

Denver wiggled to free herself of his grasp, but he held her tighter.

“You think this shit is easy for me?” Symphony released one of her arms and used his now free hand to grip her chin and force her to look at him. “I didn’t even want to tell you. I wanted to leave and try to forget I ever knew you. That seemed like the easiest thing to do. But there’s no way in hell I would ever be able to forget you. And I never even wanted to know you. But you fucked around and made your way into my heart and…”

Symphony released her and turned his back to her. “If you want to leave, leave. I understand.”

He expected her to gather her things and leave quickly, but all he heard was stillness within the silence. Her hands slid down his back. At first, Symphony tensed up at her touch, but he immediately relaxed. Taking one of his hands into hers, Denver used it to turn him around while she wiped her face with the other. Even though she’d turned him around, she was looking away from him and avoiding his eyes.

With a smile, Symphony gently tugged her head and eyes in his direction. This felt like a time for him to say something, but no words would come out. Instead, he found himself lowering himself to her lips. And this… was the moment their souls tied. Sex had given him the best and worst of her, and it had done the same for her with him, and even though the sex was damn good… it was something Symphony felt he could do without. Something he could walk away from.

But the second they kissed. The second she exchanged her life source for his. There was no escaping this. No denying that she belonged to him. Her hands went to the sides of his shirt, and Denver pulled him closer as she sighed into his mouth. Pushing her against the wall, Symphony’s hand went to her neck while the other went into his pants.

Things had never escalated unless he knew that was for sure what she wanted, but before he could even pull away to ask, Denver was wrapping her left leg around him. Grabbing her by her thighs, Symphony lifted her into the air and pressed her into the wall. Her hand went between them, and she put him exactly where he needed to be.

Symphony sank into her, unable to move immediately. This was one time that he wanted to savor the moment. To be inside of her for so long that she’d be permanently attached to him when she left. For so long that she’d be walking around with remnants of him inside of her as if she was him herself.

Denver’s arms wrapped around his neck as she bit down on his lip. She tried to kiss him as best as her moans would allow. He moved inside of her, slowly and with purpose. Burying his face in her neck, Symphony stifled his own moans. Why did she have to feel so good during what he was sure would be the last time?

“Symphony,” she moaned, squeezing the back of his neck as her back arched off the wall.

“You moan my name like that again I’m going to cum,” he warned, speeding up his strokes.

He was already feeling lightheaded because of her heat and wet tightness. Digging into her deeply had her walls sucking him in – as if they never wanted to let him go. The louder the sound of her nectar slathering his shaft became the quieter her moans grew. And when she went completely silent Symphony knew…

  “I’m about to cum.”

And she did. He had to slow down to keep from coming himself when she began to pulse and shake against him. But it didn’t matter. Once her orgasm subsided, her walls remained contracted. They gushed even more. His strokes sped up, and she was coming again. This time, Symphony joined her.

His back bent, body shook, eyes sealed shut as that pleasurable pressure turned into an intense release. One that had him so weak he took steps backward and slid down the wall. Denver continued to hold onto him tightly. Slowly, she began to ride him, milking him and drawing his orgasm out even more.

“I want you to know that I’m happy for you,” she whispered into his ear, as if he was able to have a conversation in the state he was in. “I will never try to hold you back. Go to New York and be great, okay?”

Symphony couldn’t answer her. He was too busy releasing more of his seeds inside of her. When he was finally done, he looked into her eyes, and knew that nothing would ever be the same between them again.

  Denver

Denver didn’t mean to be so distant with Rodrick, but all she could think about during breakfast was the fact that today was the day that Symphony would be leaving. They hadn’t spoken since he told her the news, and the only reason she knew he was leaving was because of the text he’d sent her earlier this morning. The only reply she could muster up was a simple okay, to which he said nothing.

Their relationship had taken a turn that neither of them expected, but so did her relationship with Rodrick. He’d been ever so present, trying his hardest to prove that he wanted to make things work. Didn’t seem fair for her to be entertaining anyone in that moment; her mind and heart were with Symphony. Maybe that would change after he left, but for now… he was all she desired and could think about.

But… deep in the recesses of her mind, the promise he’d made her make kept replaying. Over. And over. And over. Again. He made her promise that she wouldn’t let her feelings for him and their, whatever the hell it was, stop her. He made her promise that she would give a man that deserved her a genuine chance. Was Rodrick still that man?

“What’s on your mind?” Rodrick asked, pulling her attention back to him.

Denver lowered the glass that she hadn’t even taken a sip out of. “I’m sorry, what?”

“I asked what was on your mind.”

“Oh.” Denver smiled as she lowered her hands to her lap and fiddled her thumbs. “Symphony is leaving for New York today. Just… thinking about missing my friend is all.”

Seeing no reason to lie, Denver didn’t even go through the hassle of looking into Rodrick’s eyes to gauge his response. Her eyes returned to the window that she was staring out of until he spoke again.

“I’m sorry to hear that,” came out of his mouth, but the smile that it formed said otherwise.

“No, you aren’t, and that’s okay.”

Denver took a sip of her juice as Rodrick nodded.

“You got me. But can you blame me? He’s been in the way of our relationship ever since it started.”

Feeling the need to defend Symphony, Denver placed her glass back on the table and sat up in
her seat.

“Symphony hasn’t done anything to stand in the way of our relationship. All he’s done is be a good friend. He cares about me and didn’t want to see me get hurt.”

Rodrick’s eyes went toward the ceiling as he chuckled and shook his head.

“If you say so, D.” He picked up his fork and proceeded to eat his eggs, as if that was the end of the conversation.

And it should have been, but Denver had to ask, “What does that mean?”

Rodrick shrugged, not answering her immediately. “Doesn’t seem like he wanted to make sure you didn’t get hurt. Seemed like he wanted to make sure you weren’t with me.”

Crossing her arms over her chest, Denver nibbled on her bottom lip. “Well, it was with good reason. You did cheat on me.”

Tossing his fork down hard enough for it to clink against the plate, Rodrick snatched his napkin off the table and wiped his mouth. “I thought we agreed that because I broke up with you it wasn’t cheating?”

“Right.” She chuckled, unable to stop her leg from shaking underneath the table. “Because that’s so much better.”

Placing his elbows on the table, Rodrick crossed his arms until Denver met his eyes.

“I don’t want to argue with you. We’ve been making good progress.” When Denver didn’t respond Rodrick asked, “When are you going to put on your ring?”

“I hadn’t planned on putting it on any time soon. If ever.”

“Dammit, Denver.” He sat up in his seat and pushed his plate deeper into the table. “If marriage isn’t the goal what the hell are we doing?”

Her head shook as she pushed her seat back.

“I don’t know.” Denver stood. “I love you, no.” She smiled as she pulled enough money out of her wallet to cover her food. “I love the idea of being with you. But I’m not in love with you. I’m in love with Symphony. And most importantly, I need to grow in love with me. Because there’s obviously something going on inside of me for me to even consider marrying you knowing you’re not the man for me.” Denver walked over to him and tried to place a kiss on his cheek, but Rodrick moved out of her reach. “I’m sorry, Rodrick.”

Thankful that she drove her own car, Denver rushed outside and jumped in, praying she could catch Symphony before he left.

  Symphony

He’d waited for her for as long as he possibly could to say goodbye. He’d continuously checked his phone, hoping she’d call or text more than that dry ass okay she’d sent earlier. But nothing came. Finally giving up, Symphony walked over to Denver’s home and placed the letter he’d written her in her mailbox.

When he accepted the job in New York, Symphony hadn’t considered the magnitude of his decision. He hadn’t considered how, even though he could go on without Denver, his life was so much better with her in it. Even though she’d released him with her best wishes, a part of him wanted her to try to make him stay. But she was too good of a woman to ever try and hold him back.

As Symphony walked back to his house… his old house… he pulled his phone out of his pocket once more. Still no calls or texts from Denver. Sighing, he got into his rental car and headed out of the driveway. He’d already had his car shipped to New York and planned on asking Denver to take him to the airport, but after forty-eight hours passed of them not speaking he made other plans just to be safe.

Before he could even back out of his driveway, Denver’s car was pulling behind him and blocking him in. His anger over almost hitting her was replaced with happiness over the fact that she’d come to say goodbye.

Hopping out of the car, Denver jogged over to his rental car and opened the door widely. Her eyes were wide, mouth was partially open, and he could literally feel the anxiousness radiating from her body.

  “Denver, wha–”

“You asked me why I loved Rodrick, and I couldn’t tell you why,” she blurted, bouncing from one foot to the other gently. Not wanting her nerves to get the best of her, Symphony stood, and that was already enough to still her body. “I couldn’t tell you because…” she pulled at the hem of her shirt, avoiding his eyes. “I didn’t really love him. I loved the idea of what I could have had with him.”

  “Look at me, Denver.”

After inhaling a deep breath, she met his eyes. “But I do love you. Honest. And I can tell you why.”

He started to tell her there was no need, but went with, “Why do you love me?” instead.

Denver licked her lips and stared into his eyes for a few seconds before answering. “Because love is a choice. It’s the culmination of loyalty, commitment, and devotion toward a person. You’ve shown me more loyalty than anyone else in my entire life. Even when all we’ve ever been is us, you’ve been more committed to me than any man in my life. And your devotion… the way you care for me and support me…”

Her head lowered as she shook her leg. When she lifted her head, she continued. “I’m choosing to love you because I’ve never had a choice. You’ve always made me better. Cherished me and helped me become the best version of myself. You were my voice and my backbone when I couldn’t be those things, and now that I am standing on my own, you’ve been right by my side every step of the way.

You’re my provider, my protector, my leader… everything I’ve ever wanted in a man. So I’m sorry, but I have to break my promise. I can’t promise you that I will give a man who deserves me a genuine chance because no man will ever deserve me more than you. I just… had to let you know that before you left. Goodbye.”

She tried to quickly walk away, but her movements stopped when Symphony asked, “Where the hell do you think you’re going, Denver?”

She turned to face him, looking around in confusion. “Home. Don’t you have to go to the airport?”

“Yes, but not until I tell you why I love you too.”

Her head shook as he walked over to her. “I can’t take that, Symphony. It will make you leaving even harder.”

Nodding in understanding, Symphony thought over his next question carefully before he let it slip out. “Okay, if you can’t handle me telling you why I love you, do you think you can handle me telling you I want to spend the rest of my life with you because I love you?” Gripping his forearms, Denver’s mouth opened and closed, keeping her speechless.

“I don’t know how we’re going to make this work, but I want us to have a long-distance relationship. And when we can get back to living in the same city, I want us to get married. You’ve had my heart on lock since you gave yourself to me. I’ve been fighting it for years, Denver. I don’t want to fight it anymore.”

Her head shook as she smiled. Then that smile turned into a giggle. And that giggle turned into her asking, “Are you serious? Don’t play with my emotions, Symphony.”

“I’m dead ass serious. I wrote your ass a four-page letter and put it in your mailbox confessing my love and loyalty to you. Shit, I didn’t know how we were going to make our way back to each other, but I was confident that we would. So why not take things to the next level now?”

Denver shrugged with one shoulder before placing her forehead in his chest. “Really?”

Symphony chuckled, wrapping his arms around her. “Really. It’s time for us to have the title we deserve. Will you be my woman, Denver?”

Lifting her head from his chest, Denver stared into his eyes, and he prayed she would see whatever she was trying to find.

“I would love to be your woman, Symphony. I don’t know how we’re going to make a long-distance relationship work, but I’m confident that we will.”

“Have I ever failed you before?”

Denver needed no time to reply without any hesitation. “Never.”

  “And I never will.”

Denver grabbed his hand, leading him across the grass to her house. “Can you catch a later flight? I want to feed you this pussy while I devour your dick.”

“Denver,” Symphony called, smacking her ass. “When did you become such a bad girl?”

She turned and winked. “With you? Always. Now come on and let me be good to you.”

  The End

  Afterword

You stuck with me, Symphony, and Denver, huh? I don’t know. A part of me was a little leery about penning a story that was so short. I know you all crave novels with a beginning, middle, and end of a couple’s journey… but I must confess… I LOVE short stories and novellas. They allow me to focus on what’s TRULY important – the couples love for each other. No fluff, no unnecessary plots, drama, or characters. Just love.

I’m glad you were able to get past the short word count and enjoy this love story because there will be more coming your way soon. Don’t be alarmed, I will still be creating full length novels on a monthly basis. Hey, just stay tuned, more details coming about the changes B. Love will be making in 2019 soon!

If you enjoyed this novel, please leave a review on Goodreads/Amazon and recommend it to a friend – especially if you have a Goodreads account.
