A KINGPINS DREAM 3: ALWAYS & FOREVER
ADONIS
"ADONIS, BABY PLEASE. IM IN HERE," she screamed. I thought God himself spoke those words when I heard Briana's voice. I kicked open the screen door and drew my gun at Kenya's forehead. She had Briana by her hair with a hammer pointing towards her stomach. Briana looked at me with teary eyes while she held her stomach. POW! POW! POW! The ringing of gunshots echoed through the house as everyone looked around to see where it had come from. Turk had his gun pointed to Melissa with a serious smirk on his face.
“Man, what the fuck you wasting bullets on a dead bitch for,” Ramses yelled from behind him.
“Nigga, you ain’t see that bitch rise up like a fucking zombie? Nigga, I watched the walking dead last night. Bitch could have been a zombie or something, fam. Be happy I saved ya fucking life, bruh,” Turk boomed as he stuck his gun in his waste.
“Nice of you to finally be here,” Kenya smiled as she held the hammer to Briana’s stomach. Everyone drew their guns towards Kenya when she spoke.
“Baby, I’m cramping. I need to go to the hospital,” Briana cried.
“Let her go and I’ll let you live,” I said as I stepped closer.
“NO, don’t take another step, motherfucker. This could have all been avoided if you would have stayed with me. I loved you with everything in me, Adonis. It was supposed to be me who was carrying your twins not this bitch. I’m prettier than her, I’m older than her, and I love you more…What does she have that I don’t have, Adonis? Fucking tell me,” Kenya screamed with tears running down her face. This bitch was literally fucking crazy. I opened my mouth to answer her, but she interrupted me.
“If I kill her can we be together, my love? All I ever wanted was you, Adonis,” she spoke again as she gripped the hammer tighter.
“Put the hammer down, Kenya. You don’t want to do this shit, ma,” I said as calmly as I could. I spotted Brandon behind her walking slowly with his gun drawn.
“So you can’t answer me, Adonis, you can’t answer your wife?” She held her hand up revealing the ring that I had gotten Briana. A smirk was plastered on her face while she played in Briana’s hair. “You want your precious little bitch back then you come get her,” she threatened as she tightened her grip around the hammer. Brandon immediately charged through the door and yanked Kenya down to the floor by her hair. Instead of shooting Kenya, he hit her in the head with the butt of the gun knocking her out instantly. Briana ran into my arms as she sobbed.
“Baby, I need to go to the hospital. I keep having cramps,” she yelled again. Just the thought of something happening to my seeds had my head all kinds of fucked up.
“Take this bitch to the fuckin’ warehouse and keep this bitch alive. If y’all niggas ain’t had pussy in a while then gon’ ‘head and have at her. Matter of fact, whenever y’all need pussy feel free to use this bitch. I advise y’all niggas to use a condom, though. Ain’t no telling where that shit been. Call Tori and Don so they can clean this place up. Have it looking like we never stepped foot in this bitch. This mothafucka needs to be spotless. I’m taking my wife to the hospital, so I don’t need y’all hitting up my phone. Don’t fuck this shit up,” I said as I picked Briana up and headed up the stairs.
She cried into my arms, and it pained me to see her suffering over something that involved me. This was never what I wanted for her, I never wanted her getting hurt over the lifestyle I lived. Believe it or not I felt responsible for everything. If I knew Kenya was out to get Briana then why didn’t I think to up my security? Why didn’t I have security guards protecting the house 24/7?
In my head I felt untouchable, mothafuckas crossing me was the last thing on my mind. But since I saw how bold a bitch like Kenya or any other bitch or nigga could act, that meant I had to step my game all the way the fuck up. It was time to change how I did things and who I did it around. It was now time to move; the accident with Briana happened at the crib and my workers told me it was on the news. That meant my house was on the news. For me that was too much exposure, I didn’t need a hating ass nigga to know where the fuck my family and I laid our heads.
I unlocked the car door as best as I could with Briana in my arms. Once it was open, I carefully placed her in the car and looked at her. I buckled her seatbelt for her, noticing the small scar on her head. I shook my head as I closed the passenger door, and made my way over to the driver’s side. Once I was in, I started the car and pulled off.
***
“She didn’t hit me with the hammer, but she slammed into my car at the house, so it’s important that we’re going to the hospital,” she said. She raised up and checked out the small scar on her forehead in the mirror. When we stopped at a red light, I turned her face towards mine so that I could examine the scar a little more. It didn’t cause any major damage for real, because to me Briana was still beautiful.
“What all did they do to you?” I asked seriously. She spent the next 15 minutes talking about all that happened and everything she saw. I was relieved that Kenya didn’t do as much as I thought she would have, considering she had a better advantage because Briana was pregnant. I pulled into the hospital’s parking garage and sat there for a minute with the car running.
“What’s wrong, baby?” she asked. She looked at me with sympathy as if I were the one who had gotten hurt.
“Some shit is about to change, ma,” was all I said before turning the car off.
RAMSES
“This is it, Ramses, the house is clean. I inspected everything.” Persia said rolling her eyes. I knew why her ass was mad, but I decided to address it later. She threw the bucket of towels by my feet and walked off.
“Aye, y’all I’ll be right back, let me go in here and talk to her real quick,” I said. I walked off leaving the soldiers right where they stood. It was ok for her ass to have an attitude, but throwing a fucking bucket at my feet with dirty ass bloody water was disrespectful. She was near the front door when I caught up to her and grabbed her hand. “What the fuck is your mothafucking problem, Persia? You gon’ make me fuck yo’ ass up. When we at home it’s cool, but this is fucking business. You don’t need to bring this shit here,” I yelled.
“Nigga, did you say this is business? I never fucking said I wanted to be a part of this shit. I did this shit for you once because you needed it done. Now you got me doing this a
ll the fucking time. If I ever got caught do you know what I could be facing, Ramses?
“Or do you not even fucking care? I’m not putting my career or life on the line just because the niggas you hired ain’t good at what they do. This is the last time I will ever do this shit and I mean it. I’m fucking pregnant, yet you still want me to inspect shit.” She fussed.
I looked at her for a few minutes while my mind went rampant with things to say. It wasn’t that I didn’t know what to say, I just didn’t know how to put it. I needed to say this shit in the nicest way possible, or shit would go left real quick. My pops always told me to count to ten if I ever felt like I was about to blow or kill somebody. A nigga was damn near at fifty right now. My hand soon found its way to Persia’s neck. Somehow we ended up against the wall. I was awaken out of my trance when her hand connected to my face.
“WHAT THE FUCK YOU MEAN YOU NOT PUTTING YOUR LIFE ON THE LINE FOR ME, HUH? YOU WORRIED ABOUT YOUR FUCKING FREEDOM MORE THAN YOU WORRIED ABOUT ME? I ASKED YOU TO DO THIS SHIT BECAUSE I FUCKING TRUST YOU, I CANT TRUST MOTHAFUCKA’S LIKE I TRUST YOU, PERSIA! YO’ HEAD TO FUCKING FAR UP YOUR ASS TO SEE THAT I PROTECT YOU! I DON’T ASK YOU FOR SHIT, BUT THE MOMENT I NEED A LIL HELP YOU WANT TO BITCH AND COMPLAIN. I’LL GET ANOTHER BITCH TO DO IT,” I boomed. My chest heaved up and down as I let go of her neck. Her ass was crying, but I didn’t give a fuck. I would die for Persia, do anything I could to help her and more, but she didn’t want to put her life on the line for me. That shit she said stabbed me in my heart. As I looked at her I realized that thinking of proposing to her was a bad idea after all.
BRIANA
“Your babies are fine. You have a little bruising on the outside of the stomach, but your boys are still baking in the oven unharmed. You will be discharged tomorrow morning with meds for the scratch on your head. It looks a little swollen, so we’re prescribing you with a medicine that will relieve the pain and also make the swelling go down. Are there any other questions you would like to ask before I leave the room, Briana?” the doctor asked.
“Nah, doc, we good. Thank you, though.” Adonis said as he rubbed my forehead. I thanked the Lord above for protecting my babies, and for allowing me to walk away from a car accident and kidnapping with only minor injuries. I would rather take the scar on my head then be six feet under any day. I was blessed and I knew it.
I looked at Adonis and he appeared to be in deep thought. I’m sure he felt guilty about all of this, but I honestly it wasn’t his fault. He was doing everything he possibly could to catch Kenya, it wasn’t like he just let her get to me. “Baby are you ok,” I asked.
He nodded his head as his hand rubbed the side of my cheek. It was silent. The only thing I could here was the ringing of call lights, and ruckus that took place outside of my room. He ran his hand over his waves and took a deep breath. Here it goes, he’s about to say something, I thought as I studied him. “Let’s get married now, I don’t want to wait, shit we don’t have to wait. After we leave the hospital lets go down to the courthouse and make this shit official. I could have lost you and my babies back there, ma ….that shit was way too close. I’m now starting to realize that forever ain’t fucking promised, Bri.”
“What do you mean forever ain’t promised, Adonis? Now and forever always and forever. Now and always forever….no...no... Forever ain’t enough…for eternity, baby. Remember we said that when you proposed?” I said as tears slid down my cheeks. “God got us, baby, don’t worry. He has all four of us,” I looked down at my stomach as his strong hands rubbed me all over.
“Shit is about to change. Shit is about to change right now! From now on security will always be with you. Since our home was all over the news, I’m looking for another place to move into. It will be a big change, but I think it’s for the better. Keeping you and my children safe is my main priority right now.” He said.
I looked at him and smiled. Hell, that’s all I could do. I couldn’t argue with the fact that he wanted to protect me. As my man that was his job anyway. Our conversation was suddenly interrupted when Persia stormed in with Ramses behind her. She had a scowl on her face, and I could tell she had been crying. Ramses didn’t look too happy either. I’m guessing Adonis sensed it because he got up and asked him to go outside, which was perfect because that left Persia and I alone. “We’ll be back, baby,” Adonis mentioned as he walked out.
Once the coast was clear Persia broke down and sat in the chair next to my hospital bed. My best friend instincts immediately kicked in, I tried to console and hug her, but as soon as I moved her hair out of the way I saw the marks on her neck. “Persia, what the hell happened to you? Did Ramses do this to you? Am I gon’ have to put my foot in this nigga’s ass?”
“Girl, he asked me to inspect a house and I did. Once I was done I threw the bucket at his foot, because I was pissed. I don’t understand why he constantly has me doing this shit. At first he ain’t want me in his operation, now this nigga want me to inspect every fucking house, street, and corner his crew does a murder at. Briana, I’m pregnant and I’m his girlfriend, plus my life is at stake doing this shit for him.
“Once I told him that he choked my ass and cursed me out. I cried in the car until he arrived. He even went as far as to say fuck my tears, and I better wipe them bitches off before we step foot in here. Like who says that to their pregnant girlfriend, Briana?” she sobbed. I looked at her ass like she was crazy, I knew where Ramses was coming from. I knew Ramses would die for Persia. I’m quite positive he wouldn’t put her in a situation he felt wasn’t safe for her. Telling a kingpin that you wouldn’t put your life on the line for them is cut throat, especially if you were their wife or close enough to becoming one for that matter. No, I didn’t like the marks on Persia’s neck, but she was out of line, and I’m sure Ramses was pretty hurt by what she said.
“I think you should apologize, Persia.”
“What the hell you mean apologize? Did you not here what the fuck I said?”
“Did you not here what the fuck you said, Persia? You told that man you wouldn’t put your life on the line for him when you know he would do it for you! What type of fucked up shit is that? You inspect shit, that’s it. He don’t have you on your knees scrubbing floors and mopping up blood. He just wants you to look it over to make sure it’s clean.
“You acting like he having you clean everything. Now I get that you don’t want to do it while you’re pregnant, but he trusted you to inspect something that could send him and everybody else affiliated with him away forever. So like I said, you need to fucking apologize to that man,” I said. If I was her nigga I would have choked her ass too.
“I never thought of it that way. If it sounded that way I didn’t mean it, because I’ll do anything for him. Briana, I love that man with every fiber in my body. I would die for him, I swear I would.”
I grabbed a couple of tissues out of the box and wiped her face. I knew my friend and I knew she loved Ramses, she just needed to watch how she said things or how they came out. I’m sure this was a lesson for her. She would learn, hell we were still learning how to deal with men of their caliber. It was a challenge but it was worth it. I kissed her forehead and smiled. Suddenly there were three knocks at the door.
“Come in,” I yelled.
Miracle, Grams and Sister Clara stuck their heads in. My room was already decorated with roses and balloons courtesy of Adonis, but they had brought so much more, including Godiva Strawberries and pizza. I felt loved. These women were my family, and I was so happy God placed all of them in my life.
“Adonis, Turk, and Ramses told us what happened outside, so it’s no need for us to speak on it again, that bitch is captured. It’s time to celebrate, girl, we got goodies,” Barbra said out opening a bottle of soda as if it were champagne.
“I didn’t know Turk was here. Miracle, did you ride with him?” I asked. I was happy they made up because they belonged together. They were the perfect match in my eyes.
“Um no, he didn’t eve
n call me or text me to tell me you were in the hospital. I had to call Barbra about everything. Then we saw them all outside talking, I said hi to him and he didn’t even look at me. I felt like crying, but I didn’t want him to see that he was getting to me. I miss him so much and so does Kenneth, shit, I even feel like crying now.”
“He’s acting hard-headed, baby. That man loves you and I can see it in his eyes. He’s just running from love. The people he loved dearly were taken from him. I know he loves me and I’m his grandmother, but that boy loved his sister and his mother like no other. He’s afraid to love like that again only for it to be taken from him a second time. Give him time, baby, he’ll come around.” Barbra said rubbing her shoulder.
“As beautiful as Miracle is, do you think her ass about to wait around for him to act right while he out here fucking everything that moves? I say move on and give that nigga a taste of his own medicine. Men hate that shit, watch how fast he comes back,” Persia said as she applied her M.A.C lipstick. Grams nodded.
“Or you can do that too,” she mentioned as everyone laughed. Miracle looked straight ahead and appeared to be in deep thought. Anyone that looked at her could tell that she was giving some serious thought on what Persia just said. We all sat and talked for about two hours before the men decided to come back in. Ramses seemed a little more calm, which was great because when he was angry he looked frightening.
“Ok, you guys, I’m going to go. I need to go get Kenneth from his babysitter. I’ll stop by the hospital to see you tomorrow, Briana, love you guys.” Miracle announced as her and Clara got up. Clara kissed me on the cheek and slipped a few bills along with some candy in my hand. I smiled and thanked her as I kissed her on the cheek. That was something she always did for Persia and I when we were younger before she left.
“I love you, baby. I’ll come up here with Miracle to see you tomorrow, I’m happy you’re ok! Get you some rest,” she said as she followed Miracle out. Everyone watched as Miracle passed Turk. She didn’t even acknowledge him and from the look on his face he seemed just as surprised as everyone else. After they left everyone else seemed to leave one by one until it was just Adonis and I.
