The fact that his wife may be very much alive, she wanted to know where she stood in his life or where she would end up when he found, Sunshine and brought her back home where she belonged. Would he act funny towards her? She just had a lot of questions that she wasn’t sure if she wanted the answers too. But Aaliyah knew she needed to know for herself. She didn’t want to be surprised or hurt when everything was said and done.

Aaliyah made it to her office in no time. Parking her car in her reserved parking spot she climbed out and headed inside.

“Good afternoon,” Jennifer whispered as she covered the mouth piece of the phone.

“Good afternoon,” Aaliyah replied as she waved and headed into her office. She stopped and turned back to Jennifer. “When you’re finished with that call please step into my office,” she said before walking off.

As soon as Aaliyah took a seat at her desk she grabbed her cell and began dialing Ace. His voice seemed to relax her when she felt stressed.

“How was your day?” Ace asked when he answered the phone.

“Stressful, but stress is what comes with the job,” Aaliyah answered. “Amir, I think we need to talk and believe me when I tell you that I am not trying to add more stress on you but there are some things I need to know for myself,” she said into the phone.

  “I understand.”

“How was your day?” Aaliyah asked as she leaned back into her seat.

Jennifer walked in and Aaliyah waved her in as she listened to Ace talk. She couldn’t conceal her smile if she wanted to. Ace just did something to her. If someone was to ask her to put it into words she wouldn’t be able to explain it.

“It started off cool until my brother and I had a so called talk,” he answered.

“Aww sorry to hear that maybe I can change that for you,” Aaliyah giggled into the phone.

“Maybe you can. When will you be over here?”

“Daddy, is that Aaliyah?” Savanna asked in the background causing Aaliyah to smile even more.

  “Yes.”

“Can I please say hi?” She asked. Ace laughed as he told Aaliyah to hold on.

  “Hi Aaliyah,” Savanna said.

  “Hi baby-“

“Are you coming over today? Please say yes I wanna play Barbie’s and I want you to do my nails and toes.” She said cutting Aaliyah off.

“I’ll be over as soon as I finish up a few things at work so have everything ready for me,” Aaliyah said into the phone.

“Yay! Okay see you when you get here. Here daddy,” Savanna said handing him back the phone.

Ace and Aaliyah talked for a few more minutes before they disconnected the call. Aaliyah put her attention on Jennifer.

“Jennifer, I’m taking a leave of absence from work so I won’t be taking any more cases for a while.” She told her.

“How long will you be gone?” Jennifer asked.

“Honestly, I don’t know. There’s a few things in my personal life that I need to handle in order for me to focus on what I do,” answered Aaliyah.

Jennifer nodded her head up and down letting Aaliyah know she understood her.

Aaliyah made it to Ace’s house in no time. They held small talk but never got a chance to talk about what she wanted to really talk to him about. He had gotten a phone call that held his attention. Aaliyah knew the call wasn’t what he wanted, she could tell from his facial expressions and the girls had her painting their toes and nails.

“Aaliyah, let me holla at you real quick,” Ace said sticking his head into the girl’s bedroom.

“I’ll be right back,” she assured as she put the top back onto the nail polish and getting up so that she could see what Ace wanted. She could hear it in his voice that he had gotten pissed off. Aaliyah closed the door behind her. “What’s going on?” She asked. Ace grabbed her hand and pulled her towards his bedroom.

“I have to go but I don’t know how long I’ll be gone. I don’t have enough time to take my girls back to their grandmother. Is it okay if I leave them here with you?” He asked.

“Yes, that would be fine but are you going to tell me what’s going on?” Aaliyah asked with a worried look on her face.

“You already know what I’m up against so there isn’t any reason to ask. I gotta do what I gotta do,” Ace answered going into his closet.

“Amir, at least let me know what’s going on. I don’t wanna be surprised by anything,” Aaliyah damn near begged.

“It’s about time I stop playing with these mothafuckas. I want answers and I’m goin’ to get ‘em,” Ace said holding two teddy bears in his hands. “These are for Savanna and Serenity, whatever you do don’t let them go without these,” he said holding them up to her face.

“Amir, you said you are lookin’ for someone to hold you down and have your back. How can I do that in the house with Serenity and Savanna?” Aaliyah questioned.

Ace sat the bears on the bed and pulled Aaliyah to her feet. He grabbed her face so that he could be looking in her eyes when he said what he said next. “You wanna hold me down and have my back look out for my babies while I do what I gotta do in those streets,” he said kissing her nose then her lips. “Aaliyah, I already lost one lady to the streets and I don’t plan on losing you the same way. I don’t trust anyone with my girls, so all I ask you to do is take care of them and protect them when I can’t.” He said.

Aaliyah pulled away and turned her back on him as she nibbled on her bottom lip. The fact that he was about to go do God knows what in those streets bothered her and had her mind wondering about a lot of things. The most important thing was if or when he saved Sunshine where would that leave the two of them?

“Talk to me,” Ace said pulling her into his embrace. “I can’t be in those streets worrying about something you didn’t tell me. I need to know what’s on your mind and how you’re really feeling.”

“I just wanna know when you bring Sunshine home where will that leave me, us, and our so called relationship?” Aaliyah finally asked turning to look in his handsome face. “I feel that we are just friends who fuck on occasions and Amir, I want more than that.”

“Is that all we are?” Ace asked as he slid his hands between her thick thighs. He laughed as he reached inside her thong and played in her wetness. “If what we shared was just a friendship between us, you wouldn’t be this wet,” he smiled as he continued to play in her wetness.

Aaliyah wanted to protest, but it was feeling too good to tell him to stop. Her pussy hadn’t been played with in months and it was time. Ace removed his hand and ran his fingers across his nose before placing them into his mouth. “Mmmm, mmmm good,” he chuckled as he helped her out of her dress.

Once Aaliyah dress was off Ace removed her thong by snatching them clean off her ass, turning her around he picked her up and placed her legs around his shoulders. Her shaved pussy was only inches from his lips. He leaned her back against the window as he dove in. He used two fingers to part her pussy lips before his let the tip of his warm wet tongue connect to her beating pearl.

“Oh shit!” Aaliyah blurted out as she placed the palm of her hands on the back of his head. Aaliyah tried to push his head deeper between her thighs. Ace used his tongue to please her until she started cumin. “Aaahhh! Amir, I’m gonna cum oh shit I’m cumin,” Aaliyah moaned. Ace didn’t stop eating her pussy until his lips was covered with her juices.

Ace unwrapped her legs from around his shoulder gently sitting her on the window seal. He wanted badly to lay his sex game down but his mind was preoccupied so instead he pleased his woman until he couldn’t please her anymore. Ace stood over her and admired her beauty. Ace gently snatched her up carrying her to the bed, laying her gently across it before he went and cleaned himself up. Before he left Ace checked on his girls who were sitting in their room watching TV.

  “Serenity and Savanna I wa
nt you girls to be good for Aaliyah, okay?” He asked while picking them up and sitting on the edge of the bed with them sitting on his lap.

“Where are you going?” Savanna asked.

Ace thought on it for a while because he didn’t know how to explain to two five year olds what he was going to do and why.

“I have to handle some business but I want y’all to know that I love you both,” he said looking at both his daughters.

“I love you too,” they both sung at the same time.

“Daddy you aren’t leaving us like mommy did?” Savanna asked.

Ace didn’t know what to say or how to answer that question. “No, baby I would never leave you if I didn’t have to.”

“Mommy didn’t have to leave us but she did,” Serenity said. Ace wanted to break down but he couldn’t. He knew he had to keep it together for his little ladies.

“Believe me when I tell you, mommy didn’t want to leave you two,” Ace said.

“So, why did she?” Savanna asked.

“Give me a hug,” Ace said changing the subject. He didn’t have an answer for that and wasn’t sure what to say so he didn’t. “Y’all love me?” He asked.

“Daddy, you know we love you,” Serenity answered wrapping her tiny arms around his neck. Savanna did the same as she planted a kiss on his cheek. Ace sat them back in front of the TV and walked out the room to find Aaliyah standing there.

“You know you are a one of a kind type man?” She asked smiling.

“So I’ve been told a time or two,” he smiled back as he pulled her into his embrace.

“Amir, how can I please a man who has everything his heart desires?” Aaliyah asked while staring in his eyes.

“Aaliyah, I don’t need you trying to please me. All I want you to continue doing is being the same woman I fell in love with. Everything else will work itself out,” he said kissing her lips. “What niggas nowadays don’t realize is when it comes to the woman that loves them and they claim to love back, they already have the world in the palm of their hands, everything else is just an added bonus. The money, the power, and any other bullshit they are looking for.” He finished.

“Amir, can you promise me something?” Aaliyah asked while laying her head on his chest. She listened to his heart beat as she waited for him to reply.

“That all depend on what you want me to promise you,” he said as they rocked back and forth.

“I just need for you to promise me two things,” she said looking up at him.

“What are the two things?” He asked.

“I want you to promise me that you’ll come back to us and whatever happens with Sunshine that you and I will always have a friendship and bond that could never be broken,” Aaliyah said looking away. Ace grabbed her face and turned her head so that they could be staring into each other eyes.

“I can’t promise you that I’ll be able to come back to you or my girls because I really don’t know what’s waiting for me out there in those streets. But I’m going to try my hardest to come back home where I belong,” he said. “And if I make it back to you three I can promise you that whether or not I find Sunshine, the friendship and bond that we share will always be intact.” Aaliyah held Ace tighter. She didn’t want him to go but knew he had too, she also knew the longer she tried keeping him there with her, the longer he would be in the streets.

  Chapter 12

Sunshine didn’t know what the reasons were to cause him to be beating her ass. She fought with all she had but she was no match for his strength. She laid across the bed beaten and battered hoping to be rescued one day soon. The last beating she had taken damn near took all the strength and energy she had left, but the hope of reuniting with the ones she loved the most kept her holding on, even if that meant she was able to see their faces and hear their voices one last time. Sunshine could hear the door open and closed.

“What the fuck did you do?” She yelled rushing over to the bed to check on Sunshine. “You stupid mothafucka start using your head, she isn’t any good to us dead!” She yelled over her shoulders.

“I needed a stress releaser, you weren’t here to give me any pussy so I took my frustrations out on her,” he said now standing at the door with a smile on his face.

“Listen, she is our way out and if she’s dead we did all this shit in vain,” she said as a tear escaped her eye.

“As long as he don’t know she’s dead everything will work out and if not we’ll move on to the next two bitches he loves so much,” he said shrugging his shoulders before leaving the room.

“Why?” Sunshine whispered as tears slipped from her swollen eyes. She could barely see, but she didn’t need to see because she knew who she was talking to. She could never forget the voice or how she looked.

“Does it really matter?” She asked. “I’m sure Ace will do everything in his power to get you back, let’s just hope for your sake.” She said getting up from the bed.

Sunshine reached out to stop her from getting off the bed, her entire body ached. When she breathed too hard it hurt, when she tried to talk, it hurt, and when she tried to move it hurt even more. “Please, don’t let anything happen to my babies. I’ll hold on as long as I can until Ace do whatever it is you guys want. Just don’t harm my babies. You wanted Ace’s attention and you got it. You want me dead; feel free to kill me when you get whatever it is that you want. Just don’t hurt my babies,” Sunshine cried.

“I can’t promise you anything so I won’t.” She said leaving Sunshine alone.

“Why would you do that to her?” she asked as she fixed her a drink.

“I already told you why,” he said. “She thought she could go toe to toe with a nigga. I’ll admit she put up one hell of a fight,” he chuckled while shaking his head. He lit him a Newport and inhaled the smoke deeply.

“You need to keep your personal vendettas to your fuckin’ self until we get what we want. Beating her ass isn’t going to solve the issues you have with, Ace,” she said taking a seat and lighting a Newport of her own. She blew the smoke in the air before looking at him. “We have come too far to fuck up now and I won’t let you.”

“Trust and believe I don’t have any plans on fuckin’ anything up. My mind is on the bigger picture,” he assured.

Ace was sitting at a table in Capital George impatiently waiting for his niggas to show up. He had finally gotten the call he had been waiting for. He didn’t understand what the reason was that they wanted him back in the game. Ace didn’t care; he would do anything to save Sunshine. Getting back in the game or losing his life, it didn’t matter. Jay was the first one to walk through the door followed by Boog.

“What’s good bruh bruh?” Jay asked as he slapped hands with Ace before taking his seat at the table.

“Stressing,” Ace answered running his hand over his face. “But that’s neither here or there. Where’s Moony?” He asked.

“I called the nigga on my way here but he said he was out hunting,” Boog answered.

“Word. That nigga been out chasing that nigga, J’vion since you put the bounty on his head,” Jay answered.

“On some real shit, Ace, I’m not feeling Moony as of lately. Nigga have been on some real funny acting shit lately,” Boog said. “My gut is telling me he switched sides. You and I both know money will make a nigga switch up quickly.” He finished.

“Fuck Moony. Him and that nigga J’vion is the least of my worries.” Ace said. “I’m only worried about finding out if my wife is really dead or alive. They want me back in the game, but I don’t know why and I really don’t care at this point.” He said.

“Before we get on that, there’s something you should know,” Boog said. Ace and Jay both looked at him. “The reason my gut has been telling me he has switched sides is because not too long ago I was riding down King street and I saw tha
t nigga talkin’ to J’vion. At first I thought he was about to bring him to you for the money, but then I watched as he made a call and walked off. J’vion hops back into his ride and leaves.” He said.

“I would say I would have to see it for myself, but I’ve learned a long time ago that money will make a sane nigga lose his fuckin’ mind,” Jay said shaking his head.

Ace knew what the meeting between J’vion and Moony was all about. He had seen niggas do it plenty of times. Ace looked from Jay to Boog wondering if he could trust them as much as he thought he could.

“Homey, don’t look at me like that. I’m true to the game not new to this mothafucka,” Jay said seeing how Ace was looking at him.

“Right, because if I wanted to turn on you I could have done that shit three years ago when you were at your lowest point,” Boog added referring to when he lost Sunshine.

“It’s loyalty over everything. I’ll die before I ever flip on anyone of my niggas,” Jay said.

“Mane, if your gut is telling you that you can’t trust us get up and walk out right now,” Boog said pointing to the door. “You either trust us or you don’t.” He said.

“I trusted Moony and look what he goes and do,” Ace finally spoke.

“We ain’t Moony,” Jay and Boog spoke at the same time. Ace looked at both his niggas and saw nothing but loyalty, the same loyalty they had built their friendship on years ago.

“My bad, I don’t know why the thought of you two niggas crossing me popped into my head,” Ace said.

“There isn’t shit to be sorry about,” Boog said.

“We understand completely,” Jay said. “Moony’s goin’ to get what’s coming to him. Let’s just worry about finding out if Sunshine is dead or alive.” He finished. Ace dapped both his niggas up.

“This is why you two have always been my mothafuckin’ niggas,” he said. “I come to you niggas after not speaking to y’all for three years and y’all still got a nigga back.”
