And Marcus… is still…. Hot, protective, and completely mine. And of course, the reason I’m sitting out in the middle of the ocean in a bikini in the hot sun? I managed to get him to compromise with me.
When he got down on one knee, asking me to be his wife I told him I would marry him if he went back out to the ocean. Of course, he booked the wedding and the flights on the same day. He once said he couldn’t face coming back out here, guilt weighing heavily on his heart. But this is where his heart is fully happy. Mine, too.
We both carry scars; a burden weighs heavy on our shoulders, but together we heal each other.
Marcus Reid is my hero, my husband and a fucking shark diver! I’m the luckiest woman alive.
I sit up, watching in anticipation as he approaches from the water, removing my sunglasses for a better look. He throws his camera on the deck and pulls his body out of the water. Fuck! My life is fucking awesome right now!
I lick my lips watching him remove the heavy tank from his back and unzip the top of his suit, pulling his arms out he leaves it hanging on his hips. He reaches down and pulls the flippers off his feet and runs his hands through his wet hair. I throw the towel at him, laughing.
“Admiring the view?” he jests. Looking around at the open space around us.
I look over at his hot body glistening in the sunlight, wet and toned. The scar on his shoulder is a constant reminder that I could have lost him. Since that night we have never second-guessed anything, never taking anything for granted, and right now is no different.
As he slowly walks over to me I get butterflies in the pit of my stomach, a need for him that burns.
He sits down next to me on the deck, a towel around his neck. “You ok baby?” His hand cups my cheek.
“I’ve got something I need to tell you.” I look away for a moment. I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to tell him, sitting on the news for two weeks – nervous about his reaction, worried.
“What is it Evvie?” He turns my face to look at him, reassuring.
I lick my lips, catching my breath. “I’m pregnant.”
A silence runs through us both for a moment, I watch his reaction trying to read his mind through his eyes.
“Pregnant?” he questions me, taking hold of my shaky hand. “Are you serious?”
My heart beats like a heavy drum against my chest. “Yes.” I answer nervously.
He stands up, running his hands through his hair, smiling before he leans down and grabs my hands. Pulling me to my feet. “Are you fucking serious?” He laughs with a huge smile on his face.
“You’re not mad?” I stand in front of him, my hands still shaking in his.
Letting go, he lifts me up into his arms. “Fucking mad? Baby, I’m fucking ecstatic.” He spins me around before settling me back down on my feet, he takes hold of my face in his hands and kisses me hard.
“We are having a baby!?” He leans his forehead on mine, I can feel his heart beating hard against his chest.
I smile, “Yes.”
“I fucking Love you Evvie!” he lifts me up once more spinning me round in his arms again.
“I love you too Marcus.”
