Eva and Leila had hidden pieces of jewelry and photographs in their plastic eggs. The most inventive place they had hidden one was taped to the underside of a table.

Heather and Ryan had filled their eggs with donut holes, but this meant that all their hiding places were high off the ground and securely in place so Dave and Cupcake couldn’t get their paws on them.

Amy and Jamie filled their eggs for Lilly with coupons for activities on the island and art supplies. Amy had gone all out, putting eggs in every nook and cranny of the house. Jamie had put all his eggs in a real egg carton and hidden it behind the milk in the fridge.

They were all in good spirits when they gathered together for dinner that night. Heather had roasted a ham. Actually, she had helped Eva and Leila roast the ham, because she had a tendency to burn anything that wasn’t a donut.

The whole group gathered around the table that night. They were also joined by Eva’s beau, Vincent, and Heather’s donut shop investor who had no family in the area, Rudolph Rodney.

As Heather enjoyed the meal with her friends and family, she realized that there was no reason for her to hunt for happiness. She was already surrounded by it.
