I leaned in and kissed her deeply. Memories of a time not far past when I didn’t think I would ever have a woman this amazing kissing me flashed through my head. For this woman I would conquer every galaxy.
“Get some rest, hero. I have work to do and we need you ready to move once Titan is back up to one hundred percent.”
“Come by when you’re free,” I said.
“I will.”
“And don’t work too hard,” I said.
“I wish that were an option. See you soon, Tom.”
I followed Bridget out of the room but we split at the door. She went to the right and to the bridge while I went left which took me back to my quarters.
A short nap and a few hours later caught me at my desk reviewing the plan on the screen in my desk. A knock at the door stopped me along with a beep from my screen. An option popped up to see video of my door but I waved it away.
“Come in,” I shouted.
The door slid open and the hot EMT from the cargo hold walked in. She had dark circles around her eyes and a flush in her cheeks that told me she had been crying.
“You told me before that I could talk to you,” she said from the open door.
“Of course, please come in and have a seat. What’s on your mind?”
