The Paragon Element (Book 1) Page 35

by Jeff Hale

Kat got hold of me shortly after the Barrier fell, needing my help, and that turned into another story entirely. Not long after that, Merlin called me to Colorado, to train up my combat abilities while under his direct tutelage. When I left, Talon stayed behind, stating that the old man needed him more than I did. I sincerely hoped to see the rascal again at some point. I would miss him.

I had a whole new future ahead of me. I just wondered how this new world was going to shape it. I also had a huge decision to make. Would I chase after the rumors and half prophecies I had heard from the demon and Nychelle about Serena, or not?

Probably not. I had this funny feeling that I shouldn’t trust demons. Just one of those things, you know?

That decision, like many others, would be for another time. Right now, I had a new life to build. A life that was not the one I had before. The life I knew was shattered, gone, and a new one had taken its place. It seemed to happen to me a lot. Maybe this time, my life could just sit still and be enjoyed for once.

  Yeah, right.
