Eddy rushed ahead of them, searching for breaks in the crowd to weave in and out of, reaching the park more quickly. Miss Hudson, laughing while slightly embarrassed and overjoyed all at once, grabbed for his arms trying to contain him as he danced around her.
"I'd call this week a victory," Joe said above the noise, squeezing Irene's arm against his body. "I'm glad I met you, Irene."
"I'm glad you stayed with me, Joe," she said, mustering the most genuine smile she could.
In front of them, Miss Hudson let out a delighted cry. Eddy spun her slowly in a dance as the music from the parade played about them. The crowd grew denser as they approached the park, and Irene tucked in close to Joe.
Maybe, just maybe, Holmes and Watson would rule Baker Street once again.
