Daily Suspense In MC & Mafia Romance
Chapter one
Beast sat in the surveillance room watching the monitors. It was late, well after midnight and he was in the middle of a yawn when something caught the corner of his eye. Something flickered on the screen that shouldn’t have been there.
Ever since they took over the compound almost eleven years ago, after the demise of the Dogs of Hell MC. They, the Devil’s Advocates MC had the entire property wired. With the threat of retaliation hanging over their heads 24/7 at first, they had to be prepared for anything. They didn’t know if there were any straggles left alive or not and they wanted to be prepared for anything. Even disgruntled town’s folk that worked with the Dogs could come after them. And there had been many of those. Townsfolk that had profited big time from the illegal activities and opportunities the Dogs provided.
It had been perilous when they first settled into the compound. One of the brothers had been beaten badly. Another had been shot in the shoulder. Then there had been various incidents in town.
Then there were the events that just took place. Harvey Norris and his band of misfits, along with Venom and his trouble. The Advocates were hoping now things would settle down but they weren’t taking any chances, not now, not ever.
The Advocates were survivors and ex-military men. They had all been through hell and back and if they could survive that, they weren’t about to die back home because they weren’t prepared. They had tried to come here peacefully for a fresh start but the Dogs didn’t want another MC standing in their way. They had been there for five years already and didn’t want anyone else horning in on their business.
The Dogs had been used to ruling their territory with fear and violence and in doing so, they died when that violence was turned against them. They may have been street smart but they never really stood a chance against a man who they took everything away from.
The Advocates old President, Blane wasn’t a man to mess with in the best of times but when the Dogs took his wife and daughter, he began to lose his purpose. Two days later when they found the remains of his wife and his only child, Blane lost whatever hold to this world he had. His family was all that Blane had left after a career of the military had been taken away from him.
Knowing what they did to his family had enraged him and he reached a point to where no one else could stop what happened next. Blane fell back into military mode and took out the entire MC all on his own. He was wounded but he was the only survivor to walk away from the carnage he’d brought down on the unsuspecting MC. Using his twenty five odd years of military training he took down the Dogs of Hell to avenge what they’d done to his wife and his daughter. To tell the truth, the Dogs of Hell never stood a chance against him.
That had been almost eleven years ago now and they were still cleaning up that mess. Blane had turned himself over to the proper authorities but the cop he went to turned out to be the leader of the Dog’s own brother.
Blane disappeared and it was later rumored that Harvey Norris had taken him into Bluebonnet Swamp and left him for the gators. No one could ever prove it but most people knew there was some truth to the rumors. People still whispered about that to this day.
Now Harvey Norris was dead along with his half brother Caleb, otherwise known as Venom. They died in a cleanup a month or so after the cleanup of Baton Rouge. Harvey had come back with a group of cutthroats and criminals to do to the Advocates exactly what had been done to the Dogs. But while the Dogs had guns and the will to use them the Advocates had military training and a stronger will to live and thrive.
Then when Harvey had even used his brother’s old MC name, the Dogs of Hell, thinking he could recreate the menace his brother was known for, in the end it didn’t help and the Advocates were still standing when the smoke from that debacle had cleared.
They also had Jackal and he was a tough as an MC Prez could get. He too, had been through hell, only he stood for honor and the good life. Yes, he had done some things, he may not have talked about in his past, but he served well as the Advocates president.
He had cunning and knowledge on his side and his men were loyal to him. They would walk through hell with him and in fact they did when it all came down to who would be the MC to live here in this town. He had made the Advocates stronger. Beast had been proud to serve with him and the brothers.
Now the Advocates were on alert for any and all reprisals, they had begun monitoring the surveillance monitors they’d set up a long time ago. Tonight, Beast was on monitor duty and his shift was almost up.
An alarm flashed a silent signal. He reached over and turned the camera to widen its focus. For a moment, he didn’t see anything but shadows. He almost looked away and then a face emerged from the darkness and he caught his breath. Her face looked ethereal for a moment in the night vision camera, then she came into focus as she turned directly into the camera’s lens. He couldn’t help the gasp that stole his breath from his lungs. For a moment, he could even hear his heart beat as his eyes searched her face.
Whoever she was, she didn’t belong on Advocate’s land. There were no others that he could see but that didn’t necessarily mean anything either. They could be there, but just out of camera range.
Beast frowned as he stared at her face for a long moment then she moved out. He checked where the camera was located and then he was on his feet running out of the room. He grabbed his weapon at the last minute then disappeared into the darkness of the night....
Beast made his way through the woods. The military had taught him to move quickly and quietly and when he got close to where the monitor was he slowed down and made his way to the last place he saw her. He searched the area and found nothing. Searching again, he found what he thought were footprints in the dirt.
He followed them close to what he discovered was a cave. It was hidden by overgrown brush and a small tree growing at the entrance. At the moment it was mostly brush as the tree wasn’t full grown but it was enough to hide what he thought was an entrance.
He studied the ground but could barely find any disturbance. Whoever had been here earlier had known how to move without disturbing the fauna. Then the silence was broken by the sound of quiet footsteps coming toward him from within the cavern in front of him. Beast stepped into the shadows and with his weapon in his hands, he waited for whoever had been in the cave to step out into the darkness.
When the shadows moved and came to a stop almost directly in front of where he was standing, Beast could see it was indeed a woman. She was shorter than he was but still tall for a woman. She stood about five foot seven or eight inches tall. The top of her head came to about the middle of his chest but then he did stand six foot eight without his heavy boots on.
He frowned as he watched her. She didn’t seem to fear risking her life being here, on an MC compound land. She moved confidently almost as if she knew where she was going. But how could that be? He’d never seen her here before, had never heard the others talking about an intruder.
Who was this woman and what had brought her here? That was the million dollar question wasn’t it? He stepped up close behind her and shook his head. It was crazy that she didn’t know what was going on around her.
As he reached out to wrap his beefy arm around her throat, she surprised him by stomping down hard on his foot. He grunted then couldn’t breathe, as her elbow struck him hard in the diaphragm, before he could move back her head struck him on the chin and for a moment, he was stunned as pain exploded in his head. Then without warning, he went flying over her shoulder and slammed onto the hard ground at her feet.
For a few seconds, he didn’t know what happened, then as soon as he c
ould draw a breath into his lungs he growled and got to his feet, turning to face her he found himself staring at the barrel of his own gun.
He’d been so stunned by her actions that he’d dropped the piece when her head hit his chin. Very slowly, he held out his hands, not in surrender ‒ fuck surrender it wasn’t in him to do so ‒ but to show her he meant her no harm. He looked beyond the barrel of the gun pointed at his chest to see a beautiful woman standing there.
Her hair was pulled back into a braid and the color was a soft reddish blonde, her eyes were a vibrant green and they appeared big in her elfin face. She was slim, yet all woman as his eyes took her curves in for the first time.
Her breasts were full and round, her waist almost too small to hold her together. Her hips flared out and her legs were longer than they looked at first.
Beast smiled slightly, noting he approved of what he was looking at. He relaxed as he stood there once he decided he wasn’t in any real danger. “Who are you sweetheart?” His voice rumbled.
Chapter Two
Cin stared at the mountain of a man and she looked him over carefully. He was a huge man and she saw his cut. But not the back of it. Who was he? Someone new? She needed to just shoot him and leave. Not to kill but to incapacitate, then she could get away. She only meant to be here for a short time. Now it seemed that her time was most definitely up. She hadn’t expected to get caught. She’d come here to return her grandmother and reunite her with her husband who died so many years ago. She didn’t think she would ever come back to this place, not after the way she and her grandmother Ms. Katie had been forced to leave sixteen years ago.
She thought she could just do what she needed to do and get out before anyone knew she was here. But this was a man she didn’t know. She continued to study him then she saw his vest at a closer range. It wasn’t the same as the men wore who had come here before.
Cocking her head to one side, she whispered, “Who are you and what are you doing here? I thought this was Dogs’ territory?”
The big man snorted. “This hasn’t been Dogs’ territory for a hell of a long time sweetheart. This compound now belongs to The Devil’s Advocates and has for almost eleven years now.”
