  Chapter One

  Brett

“Holy shit! Look at what that fucking monster did!” Niklaus cheers into my ear. “Look at the fucking Reaper! Slammed that bitch down on the floor!”

Hell yeah, he did, and he’s right, Reaper is a fucking monster. That man is a pure fucking beast. He lifts up Bennet like he’s a ragdoll, and that motherfucker, Bennet, had the triangle-choke sunk deep in the lock. Reaper lifts Bennet up and then slams him back down on the floor like he doesn’t weigh shit. One punch, two punch, and the fucker is out for the count. Reaper is a fucking monster, just pure savagery in the ring.

I smile to Niklaus and nod. “Fucking Chase is a beast.”

I’m a big boy myself, but where Reaper is a pure savagery, I’m a fucking demon. I don’t enter the ring just to hurt them. When I’m in the ring I’m there to destroy everything about them.

I’m in the weight class right below Chase’s. I’m the current number one contender for the light heavyweight championship belt. But fuck, it’s going to be a long month until my fight. Just watching Chase fight has my hands twitching, getting that familiar jitteriness. Hell, it’s like that feeling of anticipation I get in my balls, that heaviness right before I fuck the shit out of some tight piece of ass.

“Let’s go get something to eat, guys,” I say as Chase gets his hand held high and the interview guy starts edging his way next to him.

The living room is pretty full of guys as we stand up and stretch out the tension we have all been feeling. It’s been a hell of a couple of days after what happened in the gym’s parking lot. I still can’t figure out why someone would try to jump Chase, especially right before a fight. What the fuck was that about?

We’re all standing and shuffling out the front door of my house when we hear Chase say that he is retiring. I rush back towards the TV while yelling for the guys to get back in here. “Chase just fucking retired man!” I yell loudly.

Holy shit! Chase the fucking Reaper Winters just retired, with the fucking belt!

I look over at Max and see his stunned features slowly turn into a wide devilish grin. Max is in line for shots at the belt. I think he is ranked right now as fourth. This is going to be a very interesting year.

But shit, not having to fight Reaper? That is probably not too bad of a thing.

Like we all say, Chase is a fucking monster. Chase is what’s hiding in your closet. But the way Max is looking? I have no doubt he’s just itching to get into that spot. He’s a lot like Reaper, but different. Reaper in the ring is a quiet fucking killer. Max, he’s just quiet all around. He doesn’t talk much, and he doesn’t try to make himself anything that he isn’t. Some of the guys in my house are pretty fucking loud and pretty big on being alpha males. Hell, we all are. We all compete with other in a sport that harkens back to being fucking Gladiators. We all have some swagger because you have to. Beta males don’t really fit in with us.

  * * *

I lead our large group of guys into the Thursday’s restaurant and grin to the sexy little hostess. Shit, she’s a cute little thing, nice ass and big brown eyes. Just the type of girl I go for. I haven’t been in this restaurant for the last year or so, I usually just stick to home-cooked meals because I can control what is and isn’t put in the food.

“We need a couple of tables, darling,” I say as I smile down at her. I hear Niklaus groan behind me as I lean in and smile at the little sexy thing.

“Um…” she says as she looks at me and gets a goofy grin.

Yep, I am going to take this one home tonight. I need some relief. I’ve been on lockdown for a couple of months now. It’s completely self-imposed, but I think a good round of hard, nasty sex will do wonders for my training. Nothing better than an empty sack after a good round of fucking.

“Yeah, probably four or five tables and a lot of space. The guys can be a bit noisy after a good fight,” I say with a wink.

Leaning down I look at her small frame and small breasts and grin as I see her name tag. It says ‘DeeDee’. That’s just too fucking perfect. I bet she was a really popular girl in high school. Probably wouldn’t have given a tall, skinny dork like me a chance back then. Fuck, putting on sixty pounds of muscle and about five years of age has done a lot for me.

“We will try to keep it down for you though, Deedee,” I say when I look back into her eyes and watch as she blushes prettily.

Yeah, this one’s gonna be fun to watch when she orgasms. I bet her pale skin turns all kinds of red when she has a good hard cum.

She nods her head and says, “Give me a minute to pull some tables together. I’ll put you guys over there.” She points towards the back where I don’t see a lot of families or kids. That should be good. We don’t want to be kicked out because a couple of us can’t stop from using the word fuck.

I watch her for a moment as she grabs the nearest waitress and starts pulling our tables together.

“Already calling dibs are we, Brett?” Niklaus asks with a large grin on his face. The grin makes him look slightly goofy as his ears stick out really far. That goofiness works pretty well for him too, as he pulls in almost as much ass as I do.

“Yep,” I say as I turn back to him and the guys. “Remember the rules guys. No getting us kicked out of here. I need to get me some tonight. Max, you aren’t allowed to talk tonight
.”

The big hulking fuck just shrugs his shoulders at me and smiles. Yeah, I may be a big guy at 6’2 and 205lbs, but he’s 6’6 and 265lbs, the big fucking teddy bear. Maximilian Harper, otherwise known as Max the Bear Harper. He’s my best friend though so I know all those deep dark secrets, like his love of Britney Spears music.

I turn back in time to see DeeDee walking back with a slight sway to her hips and little smile for me as she says, “I have your table ready, sir. If you would follow me.”

I nod my head back at her and smile. Yep, she’s mine tonight.

I follow along behind her as I watch her delicious little ass sway with what I am sure is intentional hip swaying. She looks over her shoulder and catches me watching her, and I only look up to grin at her smile before I look back down.

We all sit around the table and get settled as she tells us, “Mandy will be your server tonight. She will be here soon. Do you guys need anything before I take off?”

Everyone else shakes their head or says no, except for me.

Crooking my finger at her, I motion for her to come to me. I find if I can get them to follow simple commands it’s much easier to get them to go along with me.

When she reaches me she tilts her head to the side and I say, “You forgot to give me your number.”

  “Did I?” she whispers, giggling.

  I nod. “Yep.”

“What if I didn’t want to?”

I tilt my head to the side in a mimic of her earlier action. “I’m too hot to reject that easily.”

Yeah, I’m a cocky asshole. I can even hear Max, sitting at my other side, roll his eyes back into his head and groan in mirth. He knows I am a cocky shit.

“You aren’t that sexy,” she says, clearly laughing at me now.

“I never said sexy. You did. So I’m betting I certainly am sexy enough for you. Want me to take off my shirt to prove it?” I say as I start to rise.

“No shirt, no shoes, no service, mister,” she says as she waggles a finger at me. She turns and walks away but not before winking at me. Yep, I’m getting her number.

“The fuck?” Kane asks from across from the table. I turn back and just shrug. He looks to Max and asks, “Can’t you keep him under control?”

Max just rolls his eyes at Kane.

  “She’s mine.”

I turn back around to watch her speak to a long, blonde-haired girl with a really nice ass. Then I feel all the air drain out of me when that girl turns towards me.

  Mandy.

How many times since high school have I heard that fucking name and it not be the one and only Mandy?

  Mandy

“Hey Mandy, I’ve got a table of hot guys for you,” DeeDee giggles at me and I smile outwardly though inside I’m groaning.

I know DeeDee means well, but the hot guys she’s referring to is that massive group of meatheads that just walked through the front doors.

  There goes my night.

I’m tired. I’d rather not take on such a large table, even if it’s an automatic fifteen percent gratuity tacked on their bill. I’ve been on my feet for five hours now and I need a break.

I’m still new to this waitressing thing. I’ve only been working here for a week, and it’s hard work. Harder than I ever expected it to be. But Grace, my friend and the other waitress working with me tonight, just took her break and I know she’s calling her parents, checking up on her daughter. So I’m the lucky gal getting stuck with their table.

I do a quick headcount and I count twelve. Sheesh, is there a body building convention or something? Then I get Deedee to help me push together some tables.

“I think that one in the black shirt likes me,” DeeDee giggles as she helps me set out the tableware.

I turn my head towards the group, narrowing my eyes across the restaurant and trying to figure out which one she is talking about. Half of the guys are wearing black shirts over their bulging muscles, it could be any one of them.

“Do you think I should slip him my number?” DeeDee asks, pushing in the last chair.

I shrug my shoulders and say, “Sure? Why not? If you think he’s cute go for it.”

DeeDee is still young and pretty, and able to have fun. She has yet to be tarnished by the sexist jerks that exist in this world. I don’t want to poison her with my own bitterness towards males as a whole. She’ll eventually figure it out for herself.

Me, I figured it out when I was out in California. I decided to move out to Hollywood to pursue an acting career after graduating high school. I was the darling of Trenton, Homecoming Queen, and voted most likely to succeed when I left home. When I left, with stars in my eyes and hope swelling my heart, it felt like it was all but impossible for me to fail.

Well, succeed I did. I succeeded at blowing every opportunity given to me. Blew every open call and audition I showed up for. I stuck it out for five years in Hollywood. Five years of auditions and being judged. Five years of putting myself out there, giving it my all, living off of the savings my mom and dad set up for me, only to be dismissed with the snap of the fingers and told they would be in touch.

They were never in touch. Even when I was convinced I had done so well they just had to call…

And now here I am, waiting tables for less than three dollars an hour and trying to figure out what to do with my life.

“You think you can handle them on your own?” DeeDee asks me as we walk back to the drink station to grab some more cutlery. “I can grab Grace to help you.”

“No.” I shake my head at DeeDee, even though it certainly would be nice to have an extra pair of hands. “I can handle it, no problem.”

It will just take me four or five trips to bring them their drinks, then another four or five trips to bring them their food. As big as those guys are, they’ll probably order one of everything we serve on the menu.

But I don’t want to pull Grace off of her break, especially with all the stuff going on with her little girl. Grace’s daughter, Hope, hasn’t been feeling well lately. And I know Grace has been worried about her so I don’t want to pull her off of her break unless I absolutely have to.

“You sure?” DeeDee asks me, chewing on her bottom lip and looking as unsure as I feel.

I plaster on my best smile and wink at her. “I got this. If you really want to help you can help me distract that guy that looks like he’s in charge. Is he the one you were talking about? The one in the black shirt?”

DeeDee shoots a sly glance towards the group of guys then nods her head. She’s got that twinkle in her eye, and I decide I’ll put her youthful enthusiasm and good looks to good use.

“Why don’t you help me by flirting a little? Keep him distracted and I’ll split some of the tip with you. Think you can do that?”

DeeDee nods her head a little too eagerly at me, and I bet she’d flirt with the guy even if I didn’t ask her to.

“Just don’t make it too easy for him, okay? You don’t want to look too eager. Guys like a girl they have to work for.”

“Really?” DeeDee asks, batting her lashes at me as if it’s a new concept for her.

“Yes, really, DeeDee,” I tell her before sending her back over to the table. “Sometimes the harder you play the better.”

I watch DeeDee strut her way back to the group to seat them, and I have to wonder if she even listened to a word I told her. She’s so obvious in the way she sways her hips I can’t help but find it anything but impossibly cute. But the guys seem to be going for it, especially the one in front with the Mohawk and the cocky strut. He just can’t seem to keep his eyes off her. I even watch him swivel in his chair, watching her as she runs back to me.

Now that’s she’s seated them, I have to serve them.

“Well, how did it go?” I ask her, trying my damnedest not to smirk. I scrounged up a dozen menus while she kept them occupied. I plan on sending her over, to keep them distracted while I run back and forth.

DeeDee’s cheeks are flushed and her voice i
s a little breathless as she says, “I told him he couldn’t have my number.”

“Did you?” I ask, extremely impressed.

She nods her head and I can’t help but giggle.

“Thatta girl,” I tell her before pulling out my notepad and walking over to take the order.

The guy in the black shirt though, he’s staring intensely at me. And the closer and closer I get to him, I can’t help but think there’s just something about him that looks familiar…

“Mandy,” he says with a sneer I’d recognize anywhere.

“Brett?” I ask, feeling like I was just punched in the chest.

If only a hole would open up in the floor at this very moment and fucking swallow me.

  Panic.

  Fight-or-flight kicks in.

  I glance around frantically.

Where’s DeeDee? Is Grace back from her break yet? Fuck, all I want to do is tuck my tail between my legs again, and make a run for it.

And I almost do it too before remembering I’d probably get fired. And if I get fired, it will be even harder to land another job. My resume is painfully empty of work experience.

With no one else around to help me, it seems DeeDee has disappeared and Grace isn’t done with her break yet, I have no choice but to finish approaching the table.

My heart thunders in my chest, and my palms sweat as I grip my pen and paper.

I look Brett up and down. He’s changed so much. When I knew him, when I loved him, he was a skinny, lanky guy with a dark mop of unruly hair. Now he’s big, he’s muscular, and he’s certainly filled out.

But he’s still handsome. He’s always been so handsome it hurts.

And those eyes of his, those eyes that are narrowed at me as if I’m something nasty he just stepped in, I’d know them anywhere.

Gradually I realize while Brett and I are staring at each other, the chattering around the table has died down. As the silence stretches on, and I hear one of the guys whispering towards the other one asking, “What the fuck is going on,” I manage to get a grip and pull myself together.
