“So, you preferred creating a story about four men who the town deemed as cavemen and on a whim, you decided to chase us down. Pulitzer Prize maybe?” He almost laughed at the thought except it very much appeared to be true.
“Yeah, I know how crazy it sounds. I just wanted to write about something exciting. Live an adventure. I have one friend in Baker City and no life. I just wanted to feel free again, in the mountains, pretending to be someone important.”
Danger took a chance. “Like you used to with the job you had and the stories you wrote. I have to ask, were you writing about anyone in particular?”
Dani shook her head. “My father or at least what happened to him.”
“Do you want to tell me about it?”
She pinched her face at first before sighing. “All you have to do is research my articles, so I might as well tell you. My father had a great life with the military, but he was convinced there were forces at work trying to derail weapons technology and that the end was near because of what was occurring. His ranking allowed him access to certain top-secret documents. Of course, I knew only what he told me. I bought his story finally after doing some research of my own. Jesus. That seemed so long ago, before he lost his mind and was kicked out of his job. I thought I could help, for some crazy reason.”
“Do you believe he lost his mind?”
“I honestly allowed myself to believe that, but I don’t know. My father was methodical in everything he did. Still, his accusations were inflammatory, and these particular officials had documents thwarting everything he said. I think I was just crushed. I miss him. I miss his strength.” Dani’s lower lip quivered.
“You’re estranged?” Danger asked, even though he knew the answer.
“My fault. I was the one who ran away with her tail between her legs. My father faced every accusation tossed in his direction with his head held high.”
He sensed there was far more to the story than what appeared on the damning piece of paper. “I think you’re braver than you know, but life can turn on a dime.”
“I know,” she said as she rubbed his shoulder. “I’ll tell you more if you want to know, but only you, at least at this point. Wolf certainly doesn’t like me very much. I doubt he’ll believe anything I say but you deserve to know since I stalked you in particular.”
He placed two fingers over her mouth. “Let it go for now and Wolf is just trying to keep us protected. Everyone has their place here and now, including you. I know you don’t really know me, but you will, at least to a degree. When this is over, and we disappear, you can have your story and a new life.”
“Disappear?”
“My name is on a one-way ticket to a tropical island. I prefer living alone.” He was establishing a boundary, if only to keep his sanity in check. The last thing he needed was to fall into any kind of a relationship. It wasn’t going to happen.
Dani twisted her head, glancing down before nodding. “I understand.”
The tension was far too thick.
“And don’t think you’re getting out of that spanking either.” He grinned, tweaking her nose. There would be time for discussion about her predicament, but he wasn’t in the mood. He simply was terrified of getting too close to anyone. She couldn’t rely on him. This was a fantasy for both of them and nothing more. Dani would be forced to go on her way. Then he’d disappear. The plan was set and already in motion and she wasn’t a part of it. Ah, shit, he was already dreading the day they said goodbye.
Seeming resigned, she kissed around his mouth before darting her tongue just inside, tempting him.
Cupping her buttocks, he lifted her out of the water, licking around her belly button.
“Is his name really Wolf?” she struggled to ask.
“Uh-uh. And there’s Bronco and Cane, all dangerous, disturbing men.”
“Why do I have a feeling you’re telling me a tall tale, but a very sexy one?”
He wanted to state in no uncertain terms that she belonged to him and no one else, but a deal had been struck. For now, she belonged to all of them equally. “How about Danger? Name suit you? Fits me more than you know.” He yanked her down, impaling her with the entire length of his cock.
“Fuck! Yes.” As he swung her around, she kept her head back, her eyes open wide.
Pumping her up and down, he was electrified, hunger tearing through every sinew, every muscle. He was ready to feast on her for hours, days, exploring every inch of her luscious body. She would never know the lurid and very dark fantasies he carried with him, buried deep inside. This sexy woman could never understand the man he’d become, the cravings that kept him awake at night.
Or could she?
As he fucked her, driving his shaft so deep, he refused to take his eyes off her face. Just seeing her expression was fulfilling, but he wanted so much more. He longed for her complete submission, to dominate her in every manner.
Dani purred as she locked her feet, clenching her pussy muscles. “I’m going to come.”
“Not until I tell you.” He heard the change in his own voice, the almost brutal savagery that gave her another set of shivers. Her tight little pussy held him, so hot, so damn wet. There was no way he could hold back much longer, but he fought to keep going, pumping harder. Faster.
She was breathless, her whimpers mixed with ragged breathing, her head tossing back and forth. Perspiration beaded across her upper lip and her mouth was slack, yet her fingers dug into his back. “Oh... I can’t...”
“Yes, you will.” Every muscle tensed, his balls filling with cum. “Wait... Wait...” As his balls erupted, filling his shaft, he grabbed both sides of her head, whispering before he kissed her, “Come!”
His body shook for some time as he held her, her head draping over his shoulder. He was going to have a lot of trouble with this girl.
This one, he could fall in love with.

“She accepted the deal,” Danger stated when he found the rest of the guys in the cave. The entire area was damp, yet when he touched the walls, he could swear he felt heat. There’d been no volcanic activity in these mountains for centuries, according to the scientists, but given the constant shifting of the mantle under the earth, this site had been carefully selected, tested, and determined to be a hot spot.
“What deal?” Bronco asked as he lifted his mask, grabbing one of the torches.
“You mean, Wolf didn’t tell you about the incredible agreement that was struck with Dani?” Chuckling, he leaned against the smooth wall, surprised at the various colorations. In the special LED lighting, the crystalline jewels shimmered. Many a fool had been lured by the beautiful rocks, assured they were valuable. Now, they knew the truth. He should be thrilled to death. Instead, he was apprehensive of everything.
Bronco tipped his head toward Wolf. “What the fuck did you do now? I mean, the girl’s an admitted liar, a damn reporter, and no doubt working with one of our enemies.”
“Let’s face it, we’re only assuming there are enemies. That’s what we’re supposed to think; it forces us to keep quiet. She has no idea what we’re doing.” Danger would bet half his take that she had no clue.
“There are people hunting us,” Wolf said quietly.
The other three looked back and forth between each other. “How the fuck do you know that?” Cane demanded.
“The same way he seems to know everything else. He’s keeping secrets,” Bronco huffed.
“Spill it,” Danger said, snarling.
Wolf gave them all a quick glance. “Just what I was told when I talked to our contact yesterday. There’s a group hunting us. They’re not close, but we’re not hanging around in order for them to find us.”
“Jesus,” Cane whispered.
“Well, obviously Dani has nothing to do with that.” Danger had the distinct feeling Wolf wasn’t telling everything.
“Uh-huh. And her daddy lost his governmental job based on crap she spewed. That made her notable. Could be a good fit for try
ing to locate us.” Wolf shook his head.
“That’s more than a little farfetched, even for you,” Bronco stated.
“Yeah, true. Besides, I’m not entirely certain she was telling any lies.” Danger watched to see if there was any reaction from the other men. Nothing to speak of. He had reread the articles. Certain coincidences he couldn’t believe in. For now though, he’d go with the flow.
“You trust her,” Wolf half accused.
He thought about his answer. “Yeah, I do. She’s just trying to forge a new life.”
“Sounds like what we’re doing,” Bronco offered.
“We don’t have to honor the deal, but having her cook and clean, submitting in every way in exchange for her freedom seems fair,” Wolf growled.
“You mean in exchange for a percentage,” Danger corrected. “I think you said something like, if she’s a very good girl.”
“What the fuck?” Bronco hissed. “We don’t need another partner.”
“So, we throw her a pittance.” Wolf shrugged his shoulders.
Cane dropped his chisel, moving to a standing position. “And she agreed to this?”
Danger nodded. “But we’re not treating her like a slave. If any one of you do, I’ll drag you to the pits of this cave, tie you down, and no one will ever find you.”
Wolf took a step closer to him, slapping Bronco on the shoulder. “Been around you a long ass time and even if you barely say ten words at one time, think I know you pretty damn well. You like this girl.”
“Hey, hey,” Cane teased.
“I mean, you really like this girl.” Wolf lifted an eyebrow.
“She’s cool.” What the hell was Danger supposed to say?
“Especially since you already fucked her.” This time, Wolf took a giant stride backward, almost stumbling over their gear.
“We’re in the cave working and GI Joe gets to fuck the girl. Perfect,” Bronco snarled.
Wolf snickered. “I had the distinct feeling that was going to happen.”
“Don’t give me any shit!” Danger’s booming voice echoed. Extra crap he refused to tolerate.
The others stole glances at each other before Bronco whistled.
“Let’s just get the damn work done for the day. According to Wolf, we have to pick up the tempo.” Danger surveyed the area they were digging. What he didn’t like was that the cave was unstable, capable of producing a landslide if a violent storm shook the earth.
Cane pointed to a small container. “Think we’re about to break through. Take a look.” His voice was muffled given the mask, but his excitement was easy to tell.
Danger pulled the bag, feeling the contents. They’d found other strains in the two separate locations they’d been sent to, but this one by far was the most promising. The tests proved the right conditions did exist. Moving closer to the light, he poured out the contents. They were rough and filthy, and he was no expert, but as he leaned closer to the LED fixture, he felt relief more than anything. He wasn’t a fool and had known what they were getting into had a high probability of failure, no matter what the various detailed reports had indicated. Still, confirmation of failure was mandatory at this point.
And to him, they looked like diamonds.
“Thank. Fucking. God,” Danger huffed. The ridiculous idea, one formulated by their ‘host’ had been initiated almost twenty years before, or so they’d been told. The special equipment created for this particular excursion capable of detecting minute traces even through massive amount of rock. And these babies? Hidden under only a few inches of rock. All the preparation, all the extensive digging and they were close to capturing success. Funny how he hadn’t questioned why Mr. X had wanted the diamonds before. Now? You bet he wanted to know. Mr. X had far too unstable a reputation to simply want pretty little and very expensive decorations.
“Let’s not get too excited. That’s a pittance and the supply could end there. Need to keep running with this.” Bronco’s voice echoed before he started the torch.
He rubbed one of the diamonds between his fingers, letting out a long breath. Maybe this particular dig was giving him good luck for a change.
Or maybe it was a reminder he had unfinished business.
Sliding the rocks back into the satchel and securing, Danger headed for his bag of tools, his thoughts drifting to Dani. If the girl wanted adventure, she’d come to the right place and to the correct men.
Damn, his cock was aching again.
* * *
Another spanking. The reminder gave Dani flutters both in her heart as well as her pussy. She should continue to be ashamed instead of aroused, but she was wet and hot, her skin clammy. Wolf’s words played over and over again in her mind. What had Danger gone through in his life to force him to hide away from society? She’d gone to confront Danger, begging for his forgiveness but for what? The fact she’d lied? The fact they knew about her work as a reporter?
Or the ugly fact she was basically living a lie?
Cringing, she hated every concept of her past, the inflammatory statements that had turned her away from her home months before. Had she been incensed when her father told her he’d been fired from his governmental job? Absolutely. Had she grilled him with questions, listening to what turned out to be inflated stories about aspects regarding national security, including the mishandling of funds in order to fund a secret project? Yes. Should she have known better given her father’s insistence that the apocalypse was merely months away, predicated by a corrupt government? The truth was, her father had been a brilliant man, even convincing others of his theory, quietly during the years she was a child. Yet he’d remained grounded, merely writing in his journal, preparing his family for the possibility. After the death of her mother, everything had changed, her father becoming more radical.
But still, she wanted to believe his stories and to believe in him. She’d simply taken the coward’s way out.
She sighed, remembering how innocently her articles had begun, asking questions about what he thought were planned nuclear and biogenetic attacks, that would shove the entire world into a cataclysm. She had continued digging: secrets projects, diverted cash, the involvement of top government and military officials. His evidence had been overwhelming, forcing her to take a second look. On the backing of her editor, one article had turned into two, then all hell had broken loose.
There was no merit in returning to the past, other than she’d lied to her current boss about her credentials, as well as her name.
She rubbed her eyes, trying to abate the increasing headache. Four men, whose identity had yet to be fully released, knew about her past. So the hell what? They certainly weren’t model citizens, now were they? Four sexy men. Hot sex. Wicked, amazing sex. She took several deep breaths before biting her lower lip. The sex shared with a man equally dangerous as his name had been terrific, delicious, and she wanted more.
Hence agreeing with their terms. If they’d wanted to kill her, they would have done so by now, dumping her body in a shallow grave. But they were definitely up to something. What kind of work would take them into the mountains for months at a time? Her father would tell her to follow the trail. Uh-huh. That’s what she thought she’d been doing. She blushed as her nipples hardened.
Dani stood outside for a full ten minutes after Danger dropped her off. He’d taken little more than two minutes to change, heading off with nothing but a bottle of water in his hands. His explicit instructions? Don’t try to leave. As if she could. Don’t try to follow him. Agreed for now. And don’t go snooping. Okay, she’d accepted his orders, promising to be a good girl. She’d considered following him, but what was the point? They weren’t going to share whatever job they were working on and she had no clue. She would find out one day, whether they liked it or not. Her determination remained jabbing her in the back of her mind.
Sighing, she did take a walk around what Danger had called the compound. There was little more to the land surrounding the cabin than she’d seen before
, although the backyard could be beautiful, with some tender loving care. She even noticed a garden, one that had seen better days.
A large deck housed a grill that had been used on several occasions, judging from the amount of grease caked on the racks. The cheap furniture was rugged in design, no doubt created with the varying weather conditions in mind. For her, this was all she needed in life. A quaint place, a few supplies, and a good book or two. Well, making a living was important. Pulitzer Prize, huh? She could write articles from the deck, maybe even a book. One day. She was definitely writing her article, no matter if they helped her or not. She was a good reporter and planned on keeping her new life. Damn them. Damn everything.
She stood at the railing, peering out at the gorgeous backdrop. Mountains surrounded the small cabin, but the view from the back was just gorgeous. Snow topped the highest peaks and given there was a distinct chill in the air, she had to wonder how long it would be until this elevation received its first snowfall of the season. Trying to put herself in a better mood wasn’t working.
Dani grabbed her sketchpad and notebook, jotting down various notes on the men, and making a few drawings. Sadly, her heart wasn’t into the mission at this point.
She had no idea of time, finding no working clocks inside the cabin. There was no radio or television either. What in the hell did they do for months at a time? She meandered around the two floors, the other three bedrooms as sparse as the one she was staying in. The only room of any interest was locked, which more than piqued her curiosity. Maybe she did have too much reporter in her. The lock was old, no doubt easy to pick. No. They’d know. She’d have to gain their trust in some manner.
As she walked back toward the kitchen, she realized how filthy everything really was. They really did need a maid. Hmmm... She’d agreed to their conditions without much hesitation. All because of her attraction to Danger? Maybe so.
