It excited me to watch him, knowing that it was me who made it happen. He pulled me close and turned me to face the wall, moving my hair to kiss along the back and sides of my neck. I braced myself with my hands against the slick tile.

His hard shaft pressed against me and my body cried out wanting to feel him inside of me again. Even though last time was painful, he told me it would get easier each time, and I believed him. It didn’t matter. The feeling he gave me was worth all the pain in the world, every time, if needed.

His hands reached around and grasped my breasts. I let out a small whimper as his thumbs rolled over my nipples. Between my legs quivered and sent waves of pleasure through me.

I was already weak, but my legs threatened to give out completely. I turned to face him, the water rolled down my chest between us.

He lowered his face to take a nipple in his mouth. I wobbled and reached out to grab something, anything, to help hold me up. Jacob’s arm went around me and held me firmly.

Picking me up, he pushed me against the wall. His manhood throbbed near my center and I silently begged him to enter me.

“Lily,” he breathed, his voice husky. It was a silent plea that I was more than ready to fulfill.

“Please.” It was the only word I could get out.

He lowered me for a moment, reaching out of the shower to the counter where he had a condom waiting. He ripped the package open with his teeth and slipped it on his thick shaft before lifting me back up against the wall.

His shaft slipped inside of me and I held my breath waiting for the intense pain from last time, but it didn’t happen. It was tight and sore, but nothing sharp. I relaxed as he began to move inside me.

His mouth found mine and softly grazed over my lips. It wasn’t the desperate need like we both had earlier, this was gentle and slow. This was his soul talking to mine.

Feeling him deep inside of me felt so good. I wanted him to stay there forever, never wanting this moment to end. His body pressed against mine, his hands holding me up, his lips caressing my skin, I wanted it all.

I craved more. But what more was, I didn’t know. I could only trust that Jacob would know how to give me the more I hungered for. He was the only one who could quench the inferno escalating inside of me, building in my soul.

He groaned as he thrust. My name rolled off his lips in a raspy whisper.

I couldn’t fight the mounting pleasure as it peaked, erupting, sending my soul to fly into a million pieces. “Jacob,” I cried out. His name was the only word my mind would register.

He thrust one more time, letting out a moan so deep, that I knew he had reached that peak too.

Deliriously spent and ready to collapse, I held onto him. I rested my head on his chest, letting the water roll down my face.

Nothing else mattered anymore but Jacob. He was everything to me, and no one was going to take him away from me again.

  Chapter 11

  Jacob

Lily’s bare legs intertwined with mine as she slept. Her head snuggled into the crook of my shoulder, while her arm draped over my stomach.

I used my free arm to move the hair from her face. Watching her sleep was the most peaceful feeling. She was here, safely tucked into my arms. I couldn’t ask for more.

A light tap at the door had me reluctantly scooting out from under her warm body. I grabbed a robe the hotel offered and wrapped it around me before grabbing my pistol. I didn’t trust anyone. And with Lily, I would never fail to protect her again.

In the peephole, I could see Flapjack. I unlocked the door and opened it enough to see him. I didn’t see anyone else so I opened it fully to let him in.

He held out a couple shopping bags from retailers. “I assume Rabbit will be needing these?”

I chuckled at the use of his nickname for Lily. As odd as it was, it kind of fit. “Well, around you guys, yes.” I took the bags and looked inside. Everything that I asked for seemed to be there.

Flapjack laughed. “We’ll meet you guys downstairs in an hour, yes?”

“You have everything else ready?” I walked to the fridge and pulled out a tortilla from last night.

He nodded. “I’m glad she’s here, but, are you sure you’re okay with doing this? I mean, this world is not an easy one to live in.”

I swallowed the last piece of tortilla and looked toward the bedroom. “I’ve thought a lot about it.” I returned my stare to my friend. “I’m the selfish bastard who can’t live without her, but I can’t see myself stopping either.”

He nodded and clamped a hand down on my shoulder before leaving. “Alright. One hour,” he said over his shoulder.

I locked the door behind him. His words stabbed me in the heart. What if I couldn’t protect Lily in my world?

Lily’s arms wrapped around me, startling me. I hadn’t even heard her leave the bed, let alone sneak up on me. “You and Flapjack must be related.”

  She giggled. “Why’s that?”

“You both know how to sneak up on me.” I turned to wrap my arms around her, finding her still naked and glowing with last night’s full night of love making.

I groaned and felt myself growing, wanting her again. I backed up and handed her the bags. “You better put these on before we’re late getting downstairs.”

  She blushed. “What’s this?”

“Clothes. I can’t have you walking around in my shirt or everyone in Mexico will want you.” I brushed my hand over her neck to her shoulder. She shivered. “I’ll want you.”

She grinned bashfully and pulled the bags open. “Jacob, how do you do this? These are perfect. Thank you.” She stood on her tiptoes and kissed me quickly before jetting off to the bedroom.

Following her would only make it harder for me to resist dragging her back to the bed. I resolved to stay and eat another tortilla.

Lily came out dressed in jeans that hugged her curves and a long sleeved, dark blue shirt with embroidered neckline, sleeve cuffs, and hemline. The v-cut dipped lower on her chest, flaring under the supple mound of her breasts.

In her hand was a brush and she worked her long tresses. “You seriously thought of everything. There was even a hair tie in those bags!”

I laughed. If it weren’t for Rosa and her connections down here, I’m not sure those bags would have held anything other than lacy panties. I’d have to make sure to get Rosa a gift to say thank you. Even back at home, she had a way to come through for me. “I’m glad you’re happy.”

Getting down from the small stool near the kitchenette, I decided I had better get dressed too.

The last bag Lily took out a box with boots inside. She touched the leather gently and looked up at me. “Thank you, Jacob.”

I smiled at her. I loved seeing her so cheerful. I’d do anything to keep her happy. “There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you. All you have to do is ask.”

Her mouth twisted into a tight smile. “I might not know everything I want.”

I finished pulling my boots on and walked over to her. “Then it’s my job to show you.”

She waved me off. “Stop, you’re making my stomach flutter again.”

I chuckled, glad to know I had that effect on her. “Mine hasn’t quit since meeting you.”

She rolled her eyes. “I was dying when you met me.”

I shrugged teasingly, liking the new playful side of her. “Didn’t take away from your beauty.”

She eyed me with a mischievous smile. “Okay, what are the plans today? How do we find Knox?”

I clutched my chest. “Ouch, shot down.”

She laughed. The sound was better than any music in the world. “You’re the one who said we had to be ready in an hour. I assumed it was to go after Knox.”

Shaking my head, I reached for my gun, placing it in the shoulder holster. “Not today. I have eyes and ears open all over this city, and when we find him, we can go.”

“Then what’s today?” She sat on the edge of the bed and slipped her boots on. />
I checked the magazine for the other glock and clicked it into place before shoving it into its place at my side. I knelt down before her, giving her my full attention. “Lily, you’re already in my life and I realized I can’t live without you, so today, you become a part of my world.”

  Chapter 12

  Lily

Jacob wouldn’t elaborate on what we were doing, but knowing he was bringing me into his world had my heart racing.

In the truck, I sat in the middle in the front, between Jacob and Carter, with the other guys in the backseat. Everyone was full of smiles, but not one of them said anything about what we were doing. Aside from Carter dropping us off to grab a new vehicle, I knew nothing about today’s plans.

We drove outside the city facing the mountains. The sight of them made me homesick and I couldn’t wait to leave this desert to go home to Jacob’s ranch.

Carter turned the truck down another dirt road that led to a dusty canyon. An adobe house rested in the clearing with multiple out buildings. A tall clay wall surrounded the home with a large, well-manicured courtyard. We pulled up to the gate and an old man greeted us.

He wore an old tattered white cowboy hat and a red and black flannel shirt, paired with worn jeans and dusty boots. He reminded me of Doc, but with darker skin and no braid.

Carter turned the truck off and the other guys jumped out. Diesel talked with the man like an old friend.

Jax looked back at the truck and began talking animatedly. The man turned solemn and nodded. Bear walked to the truck. Jacob lowered his window.

“Alright, boss. Lupe has everything ready.” He thumped the truck excitedly and went back to the small group.

Carter got out first, leaving Jacob and I alone. “Who is that?” I asked, watching all the guys, who were becoming my family, joke and laugh with the old man.

“Lupe is the husband of the woman I told you about last night. After his daughter was taken, he became set on revenge, helping any way he could. Now he is one of the best informants with more guns and ammo than the Mexican government.” Jacob chuckled and opened the door. “And he’s excited to meet you.”

I grabbed his arm. “Wait. Jacob, is he dangerous?”

“Not for you.” He slid out of the seat and waited for me to join him outside.

I scooted out and took Jacob’s outstretched hand. If he was letting me enter his world, I needed to stop being so scared.

Jacob’s hand went to the small of my back as he led me to Lupe. It was probably my favorite feeling. That alone made me feel protected. Which was strange, because it was just the slightest touch.

“Ah, mi amigo!” He pulled Jacob in for a big hug. “It’s been a long time. And now you bring me a beautiful senorita as a gift?”

Both men laughed and Jacob stepped to the side, replacing his hand at my back. “Lupe, I’d like you to meet Lily.”

Lupe smiled, but his eyes teared up slightly. He reached out and enveloped me in a hug.

“Okay, Lupe, she’s my woman, not yours, you can let go now.” Jacob teased.

The entire group laughed and I felt my body relax.

“Yeah, yeah.” Lupe shook his finger at me. “But if Jacob hurts you, you come to me.”

I laughed. I couldn’t imagine Jacob hurting me. “Thank you, Lupe, but I think I’m in good hands.”

Jacob stood a bit taller, clearly happy with my response. “Alright. We have lots to show Lily today, we better get going.”

“I’ll be back,” Carter said, heading to the truck. “Hey, Rabbit, try not to kill anyone while I’m gone. I’d hate to miss seeing Diesel get his ass shot off.” He laughed as he ducked into the cab and the engine roared to life.

Diesel threw a rock at the truck, missing by a few feet. “Damn cook. He should be in the fucking kitchen with the women.” He looked at me. “Except for you. You don’t have to be in a kitchen. Shit. Jacob, help me out.”

Jacob chuckled. “I think you’re on your own.”

Lupe laughed. “I missed this. You need to come back more.” He started walking to an outbuilding. “Come on.”

We followed him to a shed where he disappeared inside. I watched as each man went in after him, single file, and then disappear. It was a tiny building and I wasn’t sure how so many bodies could fit in such a space.

“After you,” Jacob said, leaning down to whisper in my ear.

I hesitated before entering the dark space but quickly realized there was so much more to the shed. The floorboards were slated together and held up by a piece of rope, revealing cement stairs. I looked over my shoulder at Jacob who gestured for me to keep going.

Reaching the bottom, I was met with another door. I opened it and light flooded the stairwell. Inside was filled wall to wall with all kinds of guns. Crates stacked two high with AMMO written in black crammed into the corner. The room had to be the same size as his entire courtyard and buildings above ground.

The men turned into boys as they picked up weapons and checked them out, tossing them back and forth showing off their finds to each other.

Lupe pulled out a drawer and took out a gun just a bit smaller than the one Jacob carried on his chest. He held it in his palm and felt the weight before handing it to me. “This would have been the one I picked out for my daughter.”

I took it carefully. It wasn’t as heavy as I thought it would be. It’s black sleek slide and barrel was only about the size of my hand from palm to fingertips. Jacob showed me how to slide the top back to lock it. It slid easily, gliding like butter. The handle was the perfect size for me to hold. I didn’t know too much about guns, but this one felt right.

Lupe handed Jacob a box of ammo. “I think it’s time to shoot.”

We all found our way back above ground, the guys each carrying a new gun to shoot. Lupe just shook his head and chuckled at them.

I followed Lupe out to the courtyard and down the canyon a bit. Over the small hill, there was a large area set up with targets.

“Here,” Jacob said, handing me a pair of orange foam pieces. “Earplugs. You’ll thank me when we’re eighty and you can still hear.”

I pushed them into my ears just as Diesel took a shot at one of the targets, letting out a whoop when he hit the center.

Jacob showed me how to load the magazine and insert it in the gun, then proceeded to go over every safety aspect he could think of.

“So, take it off safety, aim and pull the trigger.” I said, holding the gun straight out from my body so I could look down the barrel.

“No, never pull, always squeeze.” He smiled and wrapped his arms around me, his hands finding mine, helping me aim. His breath was hot on my cheek, sending a sizzling shiver down my back. “Aim, take a breath, then squeeze.”

Easy for him to say. I didn’t know how to breathe when he was that close, let alone focus on a target. All I could think of was how perfectly we fit together, in every possible way.

The target lined up with the sight. I did my best to breathe slowly, exhaling and letting go of everything. I squeezed the trigger and jerked back with the slight recoil, but Jacob was there to hold me steady.

His smile said everything. Whatever I had done, pleased him immensely. “Woo! Look at that boys! Looks like you might have some competition.”

Bear grabbed the paper target and trotted back up to us. “Pretty close. Damn, she got skills. Are you sure this is your first time shooting?”

I blushed, unsure about the praise. “It was probably just a lucky shot.”

Jacob kissed my forehead. “Honey, every shot is lucky. You just have to direct your own luck.” He took the target from Bear and grinned at it, whistling. “I think Lupe is right. I think that gun is perfect for you.”

Lupe thumped Jacob on the back. “I’m not an old fool. Of course I’m right.”

  Jax and Fox laughed.

Diesel picked me up and twirled me around. “Fuck yeah, you’re gonna be a badass like us in no time.”

I giggled as he set me
down. “It was just one shot. You all might be celebrating a bit early.” I shrugged playfully. “But then again… maybe it’s just natural for me.” It felt so good just to be me with them. Teasing flowed naturally between us, like they truly were my brothers. My nerves were no longer captured in a state of fear. I was beginning to experience a feeling of confidence I never had before.

Jacob joined in the laughter. “Bear, set up another one. I think we’ve just been challenged.” He grabbed me around the waist, still careful of my tender spot, and hugged me. “How did it feel? Did it kick too much? How’s the grip?”

I shrugged. “Good, I guess. I don’t have anything to compare it to, so I’m not sure.”

Diesel held out his massive gun for me. “You can compare it to this. Then we’ll see who’s a natural.” He chuckled.

Jax placed a hand on Diesel’s gun and lowered it, pushing it away from me. “Shit, Diesel, we aren’t trying to kill her the first time out.” He turned to me, holding out his weapon of choice. “Try mine.”

His wasn’t as large, but had a stocky build with a wide butt. I shook my head, feeling more confident with my smaller handgun each minute.

Lupe chuckled. “Shit, you both want to see her knocked on her ass.”

With new targets set up, we all lined up. I was between Diesel and Jacob. I shot my gun and each time I squeezed the trigger I got better and it felt more comfortable. Soon, my clip was empty and Bear was grabbing our targets.

Lupe and Jacob chatted behind me. I pulled out my earplugs, grateful Jacob had given me some. I could only imagine how loud it would have been without them.

“What are you doing with this young woman, amigo? This is no life for her.” It was hard not to listen to what Lupe said, despite his low voice.

“I thought I’d lost her once, I can’t do it again. This is the only way I know to protect her.” Jacob paused. “I can’t live without her.” He might not show it, but I could hear the fear in his voice.
