A final note to the moms I followed. In some way, your quests for a coveted kindergarten spot became my quest, and your triumphs, losses, anxieties, and pain became mine as well. In the end, I have painted a picture that is unflinchingly honest and not always flattering. I am deeply thankful to all of you for allowing me to expose your humanity in what was often an inhumane process.
