“I am. I’m really here.” I giggled, happy that my surprise had been a total success.
“But how?”
“The theatre had to close due to flooding, so you have me till Monday morning.”
“Three whole days together.” He sighed, excited at just the thought of it.
“Yep, three whole days of perfect bliss.”
“Fuck.” He pulled away looking pissed as hell.
“What’s wrong?”
“I agreed to work the weekend. I can’t fucking believe it,” he groaned, mouthing many more expletives.
“Hey Joel, you’re free to go. See you on Monday.” Michelle grinned, waiting for him to catch up with the inside joke.
He scrunched his face in confusion. “But how? Who will cover?” The mixture of confusion on his face made me smile.
“We did fake rotas so you wouldn’t suspect, but Lee is covering, he needs the extra money,” I replied, filling him in on the plan.
A huge grin spread across his face. “Remind me to thank Lee, but shit I have the gig though on Saturday night.”
“Hey, I really want to see you play, so that’s not a bad thing,” I soothed.
“Are you sure? I can’t cancel it now. It’s too short notice, and they kind of need me to be there else I’d bail.” He frowned. I knew he’d spend every moment with me if he could.
“You are the singer. The show cannot start without you. I’ll be there front row, fan girling over you,” I chirped, hoping to lift the mood.
“Good, then I can sing each song personally to you.”
“That will make my day.” I personally couldn’t wait.
“You know what will make my day?” Joel asked.
“What?”
“This hot little body wrapped around mine. I’m ready to take you home and spend the rest of the day in bed getting to know every single inch of you again.”
“Have you forgotten already?” I teased. Excited at the very thought.
“No, but I like to be reminded.”
“Then lead the way, but we have to make it quick, we don’t want word spreading and Mike or my mother turning up.”
“Michelle, we’re out of here. Tell Lee I’ll see him at the club Saturday night.” He swept me up in his arms and headed for the door.
“Joel, I can walk, put me down.”
“Where would be the fun in that?” He chuckled, walking out the door.

“Fuck, Iz, I’ve missed you so much but right now you are wearing far too many clothes. Let me help you with that problem.” He grinned. Oh he was enjoying every minute.
He stripped me piece by piece until I was stood there in just my underwear. “I forgot how beautiful you looked, but even though I really appreciate the sexy underwear, the best present you could ever give me is you totally and completely naked.”
I gasped as I felt the satin slowly slide down my legs. My bra soon followed as I stood there naked staring at a completely aroused Joel. “I think you are wearing too many clothes.” I pouted and he smiled, stripping off his T-shirt in one go. My eyes widened and I bit my lip with desire at his naked chest all rock hard and contoured. My eyes flicked over the tattoos, coming to rest on the one that bore my name. I walked forward and kissed it unable to believe he had marked his skin with my name.
“This will always be my favourite one.” I kissed the tattoo of my name inscribed on his skin.
“It’s next to my heart, where it belongs, and then when our kids come along they will be tattooed there too.”
His words made me swoon. “I love it when you talk about the future.”
He cupped my face so I was staring deep into his eyes. “You are my everything, without you I have nothing.”
“I feel that way too, but right now I don’t want to talk anymore, I just want those lips against mine and then the rest of my body.”
“Well, that I can do.” He lifted me up and my legs wrapped around his waist. Kissing him passionately, he placed me down on the bed, his lips left mine kissing me slowly as he made his way down my neck kissing me tenderly making me sigh each time his lips touched my skin.
“Joel,” I groaned when his lips kissed and sucked my breasts, nibbling on my nipple making me groan louder. He was slowly torturing me and though I was in heaven, there was a need inside me that I couldn’t wait. I had desperately missed over the past two months, emotionally and physically. My body naturally came alive around him. He brought me back to life in every sense, and I knew no matter how many years had passed in this life, his touch would always make me feel alive in the most beautiful and euphoric way.
“Joel, please, I need you.”
His lips stopped the torture, and I felt him smile against my skin as he kissed his way down to where I needed him the most. He didn’t hold back teasing and torturing me in the best kind of way. I groaned deeper, my fingers curling tight around his hair. This was my heaven, after months of being without his touch, it was the most exhilarating and overwhelming sensation as the orgasm ripped right through me.
“Joel,” I shrieked, rolling my eyes back as the sensation filled every single part of my body.
“Fuck, Iz, I love to hear you scream my name.” He crawled up my body and smiled like the cat that got the cream. “Did you enjoy that?”
“Do you even have to ask?”
“A guy likes to have his ego stroked now and then, so please it’s been a while humour me.” he all but begged.
“I know something else I’d like to stroke.” I grinned as he groaned when I stroked his length. His face look agonised like he’d missed my touch so much.
“Iz—please, I’m not going to last long if you keep doing that. Trust me, I’m ready to burst here. I want to be inside of you when I come. I’ve fantasised over it enough. I’ve almost forgotten what it feels like.”
“Let me reacquaint you with my body.”
He grinned as he lowered himself over me, pressing his body against mine as he deliciously pushed his way inside. I groaned at the welcoming intrusion.
“Fuck,” he exclaimed and I laughed as I rolled my hips needing him to move right now. The first orgasm was amazing, but I was greedy for another.
“So damn perfect,” he replied as he began to thrust inside me. “It’s not going to take long, Iz, but I promise I’ll make it up to you several more times.”
“It’s fine, just don’t stop.” I groaned when his fingers rubbed up against my clit.
“Get there faster, Iz.”
“Oh god-Joel-oh god,” I moaned loudly.
“I’m almost there—I can’t hold it.”
I screwed my eyes tight, ready for the moment. Joel’s fingers worked faster, and I squeezed him hard as we both screamed out at the same time.
“Fuck, Iz, that was close.” He panted laughing, with his breath tickling my face as I tried to catch my own.
I couldn’t speak, two intense orgasms back to back were enough to leave me speechless. My body couldn’t take the pleasure overload, but I was pretty sure after I came down from the high, I would be more than ready for round three.
“Izzy, talk to me. Tell me what you’re thinking,” Joel pleaded.
“How did we manage two months apart?” I asked in amazement.
“I know, but we did have our little FaceTime chats in there as well to help relieve the tension.” He grinned.
“It’s not the same, your fingers, your mouth, your …”
“Oh there’s no substitute for that, that’s for sure.” He winked before rolling over, taking me with him as I snuggled against his chest.
“I’ve missed this.”
“Me too.” He lovingly kissed my hair and I sighed in contentment.
“It won’t be too much longer, just another four weeks.”
“Four long weeks though,” he complained.
“We had better make good of the next few days and enjoy every second.
He chuckled and I felt the vibration against my cheek,
he rolled me over so I was now lying underneath him.
“Trust me, I will.”

“Wow, fifteen thousand Facebook likes?” I announced, surprised.
“I know and this is just the start, Chantel says once we start to get a buzz on YouTube then they will soar even more.”
“What’s this Chantel like?” I asked, intrigued by her.
“Oh you’ll like her. She’s really good at her job. We handed over the reins to her so she could do it all her way,” Joel said so matter of factly that it worried me.
“And what does she get out of it?”
“Well, she gets a percentage of each gig and then if we start to make it big and get signed to a label, she will renegotiate her deal. But she’s worth what we pay her. We seriously couldn’t be without her. You’ll get to meet her tonight.”
Hmm, now, I definitely couldn’t wait.
“Looking forward to it. Now remember to tell my mother I got in late last night, or else she’ll be fuming that I never went over to see her yesterday. Speaking of which, we’d better get going, she’s making brunch and we have to be there in ten minutes.” I frowned looking at my watch. She’d be impatient if we were late.
“Oh Rubes is going to go crazy when she sees you. She keeps resting her head by your picture and sighing, she’s missed you a lot.”
“Oh don’t, I’ll end up crying.” I didn’t like the thought of her pining over me.
“But yeah I’ll keep quiet on the sexcapades front.” He winked and I blushed, but it had been a long and pleasurable night to which I was deliciously sore.
“I swear if you let anything slip and make me blush in front of my own mother I’ll—”
“What?” he asked, grabbing me pulling me into him.
“There will be no more sexcapades for the rest of the visit.”
He snorted. “Now hold on, there is no need to go that far. You know I can’t be around this hot little body without getting my fill, it just isn’t possible.”
“Keep schtum. I mean it. Mike and Kara will be there too, and he needs no encouragement in trying to embarrass me.”
“Fine … you win, say nothing, blah blah blah, now kiss me.”
A smile tugged on my lips. “Joel, we have to go, I mean it, my mother will start ringing.” She would kill us if we were late.
“A kiss or we don’t go anywhere. I have the keys remember, oh and make it a good one.”
“Fine.” I pressed my lips against his, then stepped back.
“That was not a kiss,” he grumbled, looking thoroughly disgruntled.
“We are going to be la—” He crashed his lips against mine and I immediately lost my train of thought. All I could concentrate on was how good the kiss was as we lost ourselves completely. My fingers weaved into his hair feeling the silky strands between my fingers as I held on tight, not wanting to let go just yet.
“Iz, we have to go,” he mumbled between kisses.
“I know, this is all your fault.” I always got lost in his kisses. He was asking for trouble kissing me as all thoughts went out of my head.
“Right, we have to stop, plus I’m hungry and I don’t want to be hungry with a hard on.”
I smacked him in the stomach, his joke was enough to break the moment, plus I was hungry too. “Let’s go before my mother goes ape shit on us.”
He chuckled slinging his arm over my shoulder as we headed to the car.
“Izzy, is that you?” Within seconds, my mother bolted around the corner and encased me in a hug, squeezing the life out of me.
“Good to see you too, Mum.” She stood back and cupped my face her eyes quickly scanning over me.
“Are you not eating properly, you look like you’ve lost weight.”
“I’m fine, Mum, but I am doing eight performances a week. It takes a lot out of you.”
She pursed her lips in annoyance. “I’m going to have to build you up over the next few days, else there will be nothing left of you.”
“She always was a skinny Minnie. Hey, sis.” Mike walked over smiling and gave me a hug. My eyebrows rose in surprise. “We’ve missed you. Kara has been chewing my ear off about when you would be coming home.”
Kara scowled at Mike’s mocking words. “Well I miss her, and I didn’t want to pile on the guilt harassing you,” Kara retorted, ready to embrace me as well.
“Just another four weeks and then she’ll be back where she belongs.” Joel smiled.
“Aww, he misses you so much. I went to one of his gigs and all his songs are about you. Mike would never write a song about me, he lacks romance that way.” She sent a glare his way.
“Hey I make up for it in other ways.” He winked and I grimaced instantly knowing exactly what he meant.
“Mike,” Kara warned and I shuddered.
“What’s up, sis, looking a little green there.”
I wonder why.
“She needs a good feeding, come on, Izzy. I’ve got the table laid out for everyone to help themselves. The bacon and sausage are under the grill.”
Joel’s face lit up at the mention of food, and I had to smile as my stomach grumbled too. We were more than ravenous, but my mind quickly changed from hunger when I noticed Ruby’s absence.
“Mum, where’s Ruby?”
“She’s out in the garden, relaxing under her favourite tree. She loves it out there.”
“I can’t wait to see her.” I grinned heading for the door.
“Wait until after we eat, you’re going to get her all excited,” she chided.
My face dropped. “I haven’t seen her for two months.”
“Another hour won’t matter.”
I pouted. “Breakfast can wait, you can eat without me.” I couldn’t believe that she was actually being so mean. I had missed her so much, in my heart I couldn’t wait another moment to be with her.
I opened up the back door and sighed, watching her blissfully snooze under the tree. It was a beautiful spring day, and she looked more than content that it was almost cruel to disturb her, but I needed to see her.
“Ruby,” I whispered, wondering if she was that far gone to hear. Joel came up behind me in preparation. She was that big now that when she leapt up she almost took me with her.
Her eyes snapped open, she blinked once then leapt up running towards me.
“Iz, she’s going to—” but he barely got the words out when she leapt up, eyes wide and ready to slobber me half to death. I buckled under her weight despite Joel’s best attempts to keep me upright and tumbled down onto the grass where she licked me to death.
“I missed you so much, my beautiful girl,” I said between each slobbery kiss.
“I think you’re going to need a shower after this.” Joel chuckled, looking down at the sight of us laying there covered in grass. My mother was going to be pissed.
She came out seconds later and looked at us disapprovingly. “Oh Izzy, you’re covered in dirt. I jumped up and Ruby immediately followed suit, banging her nose against my hand so I would pet her. I let my fingers glide over her soft head as she wagged her tail looking happy as Larry.
“Come on and have some breakfast before Mike devours the lot. You know your brother and his appetite, he could eat us out of house and home and still be hungry.”
Joel’s eyes widened at the thought of no breakfast and quickly headed indoors. I knew where his priorities lay.
“Come on, Rubes.”
“Izzy, we’re eating, leave her outdoors till we’re finished.”
Ruby did not like that idea and barked her disapproval.
“If she’s not allowed in then I’ll eat mine out here. I’m not going to leave her alone again barely minutes after walking back into her life. She’ll be upset and confused,” I huffed. Ruby’s eyes only confirmed it.
“Fine, just come in before the bacon drys up already, but no feeding her she’s had her breakfast. She can sit quietly under the table.
Yeah, there was no way Ruby would n
ot be sampling breakfast. She always had a way of giving you the begging eyes that you just couldn’t refuse. My mother might be immune to them, but I sure wasn’t.
“Fine, okay,” I lied, crossing my fingers as we headed back in with an excited Ruby happily wagging her tail in joy.
Chapter Twenty-Seven
I slipped another piece of bacon under the table when my mother wasn’t looking. Ruby gave me a thank you lick before devouring it. She was sat between me and Joel so was doing well in the food department. She rested her head against my leg in between breaks like she was scared I would leave her and that thought made me sad.
“So four more weeks and you’ll finally be home. You were amazing up there, Iz, even your brother was full of praise, and he isn’t easily pleased. Your mum though she was just so proud. I caught her dabbing her eyes a few times while watching you. I bet you’ll be sad to finish,” Kara asked before taking a sip of her coffee.
“It’s a mixture of sadness and happiness.”
“Of course the happiness part is all to do with me.” Joel winked and kissed my hair as I rolled my eyes, but he had me there. I couldn’t wait to sleep in the same bed together and not be halfway around the country. But I enjoyed performing. It was in my blood and now that I had a taste for it, I wanted more. I wanted a fresh challenge, a new thrill. I knew deep down I wasn’t ready to go back to the dark days of auditioning and not getting anywhere. But I had to be positive I now had this string to my bow. I had connections that would help to see the right people.
“Well, of course.” I winked back to Joel. He grinned in delight.
“Elijah is going to go mental when you get back. We’ve been hanging out together having a girly night, but I know he misses his partner in crime.”
“I’ve missed him too, so much but I don’t miss him banging on about every single detail of the wedding. He’s obsessed.”
Kara frowned. “He’s just trying to put together the best wedding for you. I know he can get carried away, but he just has your best interests at heart.”
“I know and now I feel bad. It’s just hard, I’m exhausted with the show, and in my spare time, I don’t want to talk wedding favours, I just want to sleep.” It was all I ever wanted to do.
