A Twisted Fate : The Dream Trilogy - Book 2

“Miss Knox, I wasn’t aware that you were held captive.”
“Since when do elders get involved in shit like this, Lachlan?”
“Since two leaders have died so close together and both of them have the scent of fae on them, that’s when, Dominic!” I winced at his outburst. Lachlan was angry, and he was also a very fucking powerful vamp. I don’t blame him, but he had it wrong. It wasn’t us, it was Randall and Stevie, and we needed to prove it. “Hand the girl over, Nico.” Yeah, that’s not gonna happen.
“The girl can remain here in the custody of the shifter elders.” I turn my head to see Mr. Silver limping toward us; he’s leaning heavily on a cane, trying to hold himself up. I turn my gaze to Dom, who is shocked and then that look turns to anger. His father can’t use his shifter healing because of the moon stones.
“Ian, a pleasure to see you, old friend.”
“And you, Lachlan.”
“The girl cannot remain here, Ian. she is too close to the alpha. She must be held by the vampire elders, as we are the only neutral clan.”
“Randall has her mother imprisoned and is actively trying to kill her, and so is that fucking psycho coven queen.”
“You have no proof, my dear Sophia.” Sophia starts to tremble at the way Randall is speaking to her.
“I have had enough!” Stevie shouts, and then I’m sailing through the air and hitting the front of the chapel, I look around to see that the rest of our group has been thrown against the chapel, as well. Aurora seems to be hurt badly, as she’s not moving. Jackson starts growling, but there is nothing he can do. We have no magic. We all dropped to the ground, but still held there by magic. How the fuck can Stevie use magic and we can’t? I’m struggling and fighting as hard as I can. I have never been subdued by anyone else’s magic before, except for Dom. Something is seriously wrong with Stevie; if she had that much power, she could have broken out of those cells easily. I can feel the power radiating off her, she feels as strong as Ryan.
She starts walking toward Dominic with a huge smile on her face.
“Stop right there and stay away from my son!” Stevie turns toward Mr. Silver and smiles, with a flick of her wrist, Mr. Silver is sent flying. Dom immediately starts to shake, torn between going to his father and protecting Ryan.
“Ooops, I hope your daddy is going to be okay.” The crazy bitch laughs, and everyone around the clearing is standing there in shock., I notice now a few of my people are gathering, and some vampires are here now too. The witches look terrified, and the shifters are torn, wanting to attack and protect their alpha but waiting for his orders. The vampires are bloodthirsty and want to fight, disgusting fucking leeches. Scanning the clearing, I spot Maverick. He sees me looking at him and I shake my head, telling him with my eyes to hold off on an attack. We’re far too outnumbered.
“You’re a crazy fucking bitch, you know that? You will never win. Ryan is ten times the woman you will ever be. Enjoy your reign while it lasts, because your sister is coming for her throne.” Stevie slaps Dom clean across the cheek, making his head snap to the side. Sophia starts going nuts, fighting against the magic holding her in place.
“I’ll fucking kill you! Stay the fuck away from him, you evil bitch!” Stevie ignores Sophia’s outburst.
“Hand her over now, or I start hurting your friends. Starting with the mouthy fucking fae bitch.” No! not my sister! Dom turns to look at Sophia and then back to me. I can see he’s torn, and fuck, so am I. I can’t lose my sister again, but I can’t lose Ryan either.
“Take me instead!” I shout.
“Aww that’s so cute, but no.” Stevie raises here hand and Sophia starts to float toward her. As soon as Soph is within her grasp, Stevie grips her by the throat and starts to choke her.
“Lachlan, do something!” The fucking bastard stands there watching on in horror at what he is seeing. He needs to stop this. Everyone is frozen in place except for the vamps and witches. We underestimated Stevie, and now my sister will pay the price. Soph is struggling to breathe.
“Stop! I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll seal the fucking fae realm if I have to!” I hear gasps all around at Dom’s outburst; Soph is starting to turn purple. “Let her go and I’ll seal it, I swear.”
“Enough!” Stevie releases my sister, who drops to the ground, gasping for air and clawing at her throat. Ryan wiggles out of Dom’s arms to stand on her feet, and Dom rushes to Soph and picks her up, moving back toward the chapel stairs near the rest of us.
“I was having fun, Ry. You’re a party pooper.” Stevie’s eyes are pitch black, you can see black liquid swimming beneath her skin. I can see Ryan is shaky on her legs and trembling. She exerted so much power tonight that she is weak. “Come with us now and none of them will be harmed. If you delay any longer and try something stupid, I will do something like this.” She clicks her fingers and then I hear Aurora scream. Looking over at her, I see it now, blood is dripping down the front of her head. She must have hit her head hard against the chapel wall, and on top of that, Stevie just broke her arm. “Or this.” Now Chase is screaming out; Stevie broke his leg, and it’s hanging at an odd angle. His father steps forward for the first time tonight, but pauses when he sees Stevie is looking at him. “Or…”
“Stop! You have my word I will come with you without a fight.” Ryan turns to look back at me. I’m stuck on the ground fighting against my restraints like a worthless dog while my wife is standing in front of a deranged killer. Ryan smiles a broken smile and mouths come for me. I see the tears in her eyes and the doubt, but I will never stop until I find her. I harden my facial features and nod. I’ll come for you, baby, and I’ll kill everyone in my fucking way.
Epilogue
Ryan
I’ve been sitting in a cell for nearly two weeks, beaten and barely lucid. I am injected with something three times a day. I don’t know what’s in the injection; not five minutes after they inject me, I black out. Randall comes to me every day and withdraws blood from me. I don’t know what he needs the blood for, and I would have thought he would have killed me by now. Every time the darkness takes over, I try to reach my dream land with Nico. I have even tried to reach Kai, but nothing happens. I held out hope for the first few days that Nico and the guys would come for me, but they have left me here. I knew it was too good to be true.
“Are you awake?” I turn my head slowly; it’s such an effort to move even my head. Every bone in my body is aching and sore. I am beaten three times a day, after every injection; they beat me before I pass out. “I heard the guards talking. There is a big elder meeting. All four of the elder councils are coming here today.”
“What…” Clearing my dry throat, I try to speak again. “What does that mean?”
“Something big is going down.” I wasn’t holding out hope. If Nico was coming for me, he would have already been here. I felt used. He married me and then left me. Well, I left him, really, but I did it to save their lives. Stevie enjoyed hearing Nico scream out for me as she dragged me by my hair all the way to the car the night of my wedding. Randall has tried to get me to use my powers when I’m brought to him in his office, but for some reason I can’t use them. Normally all it took was for me to be angry and then I would blast shit, but now, I can’t even do that.
“I think they’re coming for you.”
“Trust me, no one is coming for me. My husband left me here to rot, my cousins haven’t come, and my friends haven’t shown up either. They all probably think I’m dead and are celebrating that the fae realm can live on.” I could hear the bitterness and heartbreak in my own voice, but I wouldn’t shed another tear for what I had lost.
“Don’t say that, Smurfy.” I hated the nickname as soon as he had come up with it; I told him I glowed blue when I used magic, and ever since he had been calling me Smurfy. We can’t actually see each other, as it’s pitch black in the cells. We have no lights down here at all.
“If I ever get to blow this joint, I promise I won’t leave wi
thout you.”
“Yes, you will. Everyone leaves me.”
“Not me, Smurfy, I got your back all day. I swear.” The stupidest and weirdest part is I believed him.
Changing the subject, I ask my jail buddy, “You still haven’t told me why you’re in here?”
“My mom was a prisoner here for many years and died, apparently. The king told me I had to live out the rest of her sentence. I was born here, so I know no other life. For nearly seventeen years, this is all I have known.”
“I swear to you, if I ever blow this joint, I will not leave without you, Lucian.”

A Beautiful Dream - Book 1
My name is Ryan Knox.
I thought I was finally free of my past.
I left my old life behind, reconnected with my family, and made all the right choices.
It was supposed to make me happy, until I found out I’m the only one who can save a world I didn’t even know existed. My dreams weren’t just dreams.
They were the place I fell for someone I had no right falling for.
Now, I need to harness an unknown power inside of me.
The objective is clear—save the Fae realm.
Secrets will need to be uncovered.
Enemies will need to be reasoned with.
And my heart will need to stay out of it.
There’s just one problem.
The evil we need to fight, is none other than my twin sister.
