Sins of the Dead Page 35

by Lin Anderson

In particular, for Sins of the Dead I’d like to give thanks to …

Professor Lorna Dawson of The James Hutton Institute for inspiring the creation of soil scientist Dr Jen Mackie.

Dr James H. K. Grieve, Emeritus Professor of Forensic Pathology at Aberdeen University, who is more than generous in answering my queries about modes of death.

Glasgow Tigers for a fabulous day out at Ashfield, which inspired the role of the Tigers in the story and reminded me how much fun I had supporting the team when a student at Glasgow University.

The idea for Sins of the Dead was conceived at the annual rally of Harley-Davidson enthusiasts who gather every August in the neighbouring village of Aviemore. Known as Thunder in the Glens, it’s organized by the Dunedin Chapter of Harley-Davidson.

A big thanks must therefore go to Alex Glen, the Director of the Dunedin Chapter Scotland (9083), and to Fran and Jim Anderson, chapter members in Aviemore, for their expertise in all things Harley-Davidson and of course in the running of the hugely successful and friendly Thunder in the Glens.

In Follow the Dead I introduced the character known as Mary Grant, inspired by the real Mary Grant from Carrbridge, who kindly gave money to Cancer Research to get to know McNab a little better.

I liked the character so much she reappears in Sins of the Dead. You’ll have likely read the book by now, so you’ll already know what she’s been up to this time, and that a Harley-Davidson played a role in that.
