Owen insisted on seeing her off at the airport. They paused inside the glass entry doors. Owen set her bag down and pulled her close.

“This was good. I’m glad you stayed.”

“I wish I could stay longer,” she said, leaning into him.

“I’ll come up and see you soon,” he said, pulling back and looking her in the eye. “My mother’s birthday is next month, and I was planning on sailing up to Miami so I can dock there and then drive up to Atlanta to see her.”

Darger cocked her head to one side.

“What will the beach bunny skanks do while you’re gone?”

“They’ll just have to get on without me for a while.”

She laughed and kissed him. When he pulled away this time, Owen wore a more serious expression on his face.

“And thank you again for… everything. For proving that Sully was as good a man as I said he was.”

  Darger nodded.

“Keep me posted on what happens with the case.”

“Oh, I surely will. I’m almost tempted to go pay those two boys a visit while they’re in lock-up. Rub it in a little. But that wouldn’t be very gentlemanly of me.”

“Who ever accused you of being a gentleman?” Darger asked with a smirk.

“Touché.” He kissed her again, longer this time. “Call me when you get in so I know you’re safe.”

  “I will.”

Darger made her way through the security line, turning back on the other side to wave one last time. She was sad to be leaving, but this time, her sadness was tinged with happiness.

Because she knew this wouldn’t be the last she’d be seeing of Owen Baxter.

  AUTHOR'S NOTE

  - A Note From the Authors -

In a way, I've been on the path toward writing this series since 1995 when I read Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. It not only scarred my impressionable psyche, it also made me want to spend the rest of my life writing creepy stuff.

So this is our delve into the murky waters of the serial killer thriller. Not many books do the genre justice, I'm afraid, but I can promise you that we put our hearts into it. I can't wait to hear what you think.

I'm excited to report that we've got a lot more Violet Darger headed your way. More Loshak, too.

But that's where you come in.

Unfortunately, Amazon won't automatically flag you down when there's a new book in the series. Don't miss out!

Take one of the following actions to make sure you're always among the first to know what Darger and Loshak are up to:

  ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Tim McBain writes because life is short, and he wants to make something awesome before he dies. Additionally, he likes to move it, move it.
