Task Force Two: Fennigan Pack's Earth Angel [The Men of Five-O #9] (Siren Publishing LoveXtreme Forever) Page 18

by Dixie Lynn Dwyer

She pushed the small door open and she was way in the back of the house in the center of the gardens. She climbed out and looked around with eyes so sharp and focused she was a bit scared. She could hear the wolves, the alarms wailing as if they were right nearby yet everything was black.

It was crazy but she could hear so clearly, too. Her body felt different.

She hurried out of the gardens and ran as fast as she could across the way until she reached the area where the developments were. Just as she decided which way to run, she heard a growl and cried out as a wolf tackled her to the ground. The gun fell to the grass and she screamed and then tried to reach for it.

“Don’t hurt her.” She heard a deep voice from a distance. Sal grabbed for the gun as two wolves growled near her. She pointed the gun and shot one wolf. He howled and then there were others. She only had one shot left. She got up to her feet and pointed around her. One more she could kill until the others got to her.

“Don’t do it. It’s over. You belong with us,” one of them said as another jumped toward her as if it were going for the gun. Sal shot and the wolf went down.

Salina ran and in her mind she reached out to Reggie, to her mates, and felt nothing.

She screamed and then turned around only to see three other wolves standing in her way. They were growling low and she slowly started backing up. Her heart pounded inside of her chest and her breath caught in her throat. Strong arms wrapped around her waist and something pinched her neck.

“You’re all mine now, Salina.” She turned to see Jeremiah standing there holding a needle. Her vision blurred and her body went weak. She could hear Reggie yelling “no,” but then Jeremiah was carrying her away and out of the house. She couldn’t move a muscle and the last thing she thought about were Angus’s words and her six Alpha mates.

“I need you. They’re taking me away. Jeremiah stuck me with a needle. Help me please.”

“They’re still not here. Isn’t it obvious that they lied about Salina being their mate? She is ours, and we need to get back to her.” Brady raged at the four members of the Circle standing there waiting on Carbarone.

Angus grabbed his head, his brothers closed their eyes, and everyone around them asked what was wrong.

“It’s a trap. Salina has been abducted by Jeremiah Carbarone. They invaded our home,” Angus said.

“Gideon, we just got a call from Ireland. Skylar Pack territory has been taken over by Carbarone. They are calling for a challenge to the Alpha McCarthy,” one of the Beta guards informed them.

Angus roared and slammed his hand down on the table. “It’s a damn trap and now our mate is in danger because of you.”

Brady and the others followed Angus out of the room.

“Holy shit, I heard her. She called to us for help,” Eagan said, sounding shocked.

“We all heard her. We need to get to Salina,” Delaney said. They ran from the building and headed toward the SUV.

“Get on the phone with Fagan Pack. Reggie isn’t answering right now,” Adrian said.

“We have to get to her, Angus. She needs us. There’s no telling what Carbarone will do to her,” Brady said, and Angus stepped on the gas and headed back to the estate.

By the time they reached the house, all hell had broken loose.

Vanderlan and Randolph were there to meet them as were firefighters and special cleanup crews, who began to secure the estate.

“What the fuck happened?” Angus roared.

“They took Salina,” Vanderlan told them.

“We know. She somehow spoke to us, informed us that she was in trouble, and asked for help.” Angus thought about that a moment. He didn’t feel very good right now. In fact he was thinking that Salina might end up like Margo. Dead. He’d failed Salina already by leaving her side and making her vulnerable to an attack.

“Reggie is injured. Dani is with him now,” Randolph informed them.

“Let’s go see him, then figure out where they took Salina,” Delaney said.

“We’ve got people working on that now, including Declan Pack. Ava ordered troops to go in and assist Skylar Pack. The word is that McCarthy has been injured,” Randolph told them as they headed through the house.

Angus couldn’t believe the mess. Windows were shattered, a dense fog of smoke filled the air, making it difficult to see, and there were bodies, men who had been on guard as protectors to Salina who gave their life trying to keep her safe. His gut clenched.

As they approached the upper floors, Angus spotted Miele, Van, Baher, and Bently. They all shook hands and then Bently informed Angus and his brothers about Reggie.

“We were on our way here when Reggie called and asked to check on Salina’s father. We got to the house and saw that it was ransacked. Her dad was taken, too. We tried calling here, got no answer, so we headed this way but were too late. Dani said that Reggie might not make it. She got to him in time. They left him for dead, but there is some kind of spell over him. Dani doesn’t trust it at all.”

“Son of a bitch. I can’t wait to get my hands on them. The Carbarone family is going down,” Delaney said.

“We’re with you on that,” Miele said. “They basically bypassed Were authority and that of the Circle, lied to them to set up that fake meeting, and then abducted your mate and her father, then left Reggie for dead. Then of course there are the dozen or so guards they took out, too.”

“Your team took out two dozen or more of Carbarone’s men, so know they did put up a good fight to keep your mate secure,” Bently told Angus.

“It has to end. We can’t lose Salina like we lost Margo. We need to find out where they took Salina and her father,” Angus told them.

“Reggie is awake but not for long. Dani gave him something to calm him,” Van said as he stood by the doorway.

Brady, Angus, Delaney, Eagan, Adrian, and Quinn entered the room.

“Holy shit, he looks like hell,” Adrian said as he approached first. He gave Dani a kiss on the cheek and she smiled.

“It was a close call. Thank goodness you all asked us to come and help,” Dani said.

The others greeted her but Angus stood back.

Dani approached him and caressed his arm. “This isn’t your fault. Just like Margo’s death wasn’t.”

“I don’t want to hear it, Dani. I failed Salina, too.”

“No, you didn’t. You marked her, mated her, and began the binding. She needs you more than ever right now,” Dani told him.

“Angus, we just got word from Sean Declan. Jeremiah Carbarone boarded a private jet with Salina and her father. They’re headed to Ireland,” Vanderlan told them.

“That piece of shit. He wants to fight on our land, then so be it. Let’s get the jet fueled and ready,” Angus said.

“Already done, Angus. Go get your mate and bring justice to Margo’s death once and for all,” Van told him.

Angus smiled. “You bet your ass we will. Let’s go, brothers, our woman needs her security team in place before we take out the bad guys once and for all.”

  Chapter 14

“You should have killed Pierce. You have the woman. We won’t need him around to get her to do what we want,” Jeremiah said as he looked at Pierce, comatose on the couch in the living room.

Torque glared at the man. He would like nothing more than to see the half-breed wizard dead, and maybe Jeremiah was right and keeping Pierce alive for a bit longer would cause a problem. Torque wasn’t certain, but he did know that Salina would do just about anything for her father, her only blood relative.

“Make sure you keep him sedated. I’m not certain how strong his powers are and we don’t need any surprises,” Torque told Jeremiah. Jeremiah moved Salina’s hair from her cheek.

“When can I have her? I want to mark her so when those fucking losers come they see she is mine and not theirs anymore. How long do I have to wait until I can play with her?” Jeremiah asked.

“Soon. When she awakens I need to test her powers. In the interim, check on Jaydin and Jett. See if they have control over Skylar Pack yet.”

  Jeremiah took out his phone.

“It was a great idea to load the weapons with silver bullets. McCarthy is injured and there’s no way he can challenge my brother now.”

“Yes, everything is coming together nicely.”

  * * * *

Salina listened to what they were saying. So this was some kind of planned attack on the Skylar Pack. They set her men up and prepared to kill them. She worried about Reggie and hoped that he was okay. She must have been unconscious a while to have made it to Ireland. How the hell did these men get away with it?

Her mind felt fuzzy, but then there was this sensation inside. Flashes of images scattered through her mind. Torque was a wizard, a man of powerful abilities. But he was also evil. His intentions were to destroy the power of the Circle. To manipulate the weak and think nothing of mass murdering innocents was despicable. For some odd reason she thought about her mother, and her untimely death. Why was she feeling like Torque had a hand in it, too?

“Playing possum will cost you, Salina,” Torque said. He caressed her cheek and then sat next to her on the couch.

  “She’s awake?” Jeremiah asked.

She blinked her eyes open. She held their gazes. “What am I doing here? What have you done?”

“No questions. You’re right where you belong.” Torque placed his hands on her cheeks and closed his eyes. She felt the evilness collide against her body. A shield of some sort blocked him out and she didn’t know where it came from but was grateful.

“Ahhh, very powerful indeed,” he whispered, and she wondered how he could tell. Was he trying to place a spell on her? Did these wizards have the power of mind manipulation?

“You will succumb to the destiny I choose for you, Salina. You will mate with Carbarone and be theirs for eternity.”

  “No, I won’t. I have mates.”

“They will be dead soon enough, and even if they make it here, they will need to fight Carbarone for Skylar territory.”

“They’ll do it and then I’ll kill you.”

He chuckled. “You have a strong spirit, Salina, but I am more powerful than you know. Plus, if you don’t succumb to Jeremiah and his brothers, then your father will die, right here in front of you.”

He released her and looked toward her dad lying on the couch. She was amazed that Torque could speak to her in her mind, but she also had a feeling that she allowed it.

She looked at her father lying helpless and sleeping on the couch. His face was battered and bruised. Blood stained his ripped shirt. He was injured and seemed to have given the Carbarone men a fight before being captured. Something deep within her reacted to that.

She sat up, straightened out her blouse, and adjusted her pants. She stared at Torque and saw his plan, but then he shot her a look.

“A warrior angel. How intriguing,” he whispered, looking her over.

“A warrior angel? What is that?” Jeremiah asked, moving closer.

Torque never took his eyes off Salina.

“She is an angel on earth, one sent to find and sentence those who have committed crimes like murder. She can read minds, as she just attempted to read mine,” Torque told Jeremiah.

“That’s pretty ironic, considering that she is a detective,” Jeremiah said as he reached for her hair and caressed it. She pulled away and stared at Torque. “I didn’t try to read your mind, I succeeded. Perhaps Mr. Carbarone, their uncle, would like to hear of your true plans?”

“Can I have her now?” Jeremiah asked as he walked closer. He was staring at her and she knew that look. An expression of hunger filled his eyes. He allowed her to see his wolf, and her body tensed, instantly on guard.

“First, what is the update on your brother and overtaking the territory?”

“He is in control. The only thing that could possibly stand in the way now would be for someone else to challenge him to Skylar Pack territory.”

Jeremiah reached for her chin and she turned from his grasp. “I see you still need to learn about respecting your Alpha,” Jeremiah told her.

“You’re not my Alpha,” she said slowly, feeling her hatred for this man intensify.

“There are no others. You belong to Carbarone Pack now, and you’ll live here in Ireland on our newest claimed land.”

She shook her head. “I don’t belong to you.”

“You don’t know the rules and the laws of wolves. You belong to Carbarone Pack. Those weak Fennigan wolves gave you up. They left you and a wolf never leaves his mate. You will be ours shortly.” Jeremiah pulled her up by her blouse, ripping the material. She lashed out at him and struck him across the face.

He shoved her down and climbed on top of her. He pressed his thigh between her legs and held her arms at her sides. She was no match for his wolf strength as she growled in anger from being so vulnerable and weak.

He smirked, letting his long, sharp teeth show.

“Don’t fight it. It’s no use,” Jett said, approaching from behind the couch. He placed his hands over her shoulders, under her blouse, and cupped her breasts. Salina shook her head side to side.

“No! Get off of me. I don’t want this.”

“Allow me to assist,” Torque stated and then moved closer.

“Of course you want to assist. You don’t want them to know your plans. He is going to take over everything. He will control your minds and your uncle’s, ultimately becoming pack leader,” she said.

“She lies. Hold her still,” Torque replied. She struggled to get free but it was no use. These men were megastrong. Jeremiah was breathing heavy. He looked like some caged animal and Jett’s hands cupped Salina’s breasts and squeezed them hard.

She wiggled and thrust upward, trying anything she could to get free.

“Hold her still,” Torque said and then slapped his palm against her forehead, sending her head back against the couch.

She felt the sensation slam against her body. Something dark, hard, and mystical cascaded over her flesh.

“Accept them, Salina. Accept the Carbarone as your Alphas, and your father’s life will be spared.”

“No. You can’t make me do this. You can’t.”

Salina heard her father’s cry of pain and she screamed at Torque.

  “Release him. Release him.”

“Succumb to your fate. Allow Carbarone to bond with you, and your father shall live.”

She cried as her father’s torturous moans filled the room. She screamed out as tears rolled from her eyes.

“No. This isn’t the way it’s supposed to be.”

Jeremiah licked her neck and then nipped at her skin. She shook and tried to fight him off.

“Fight him, Salina.” She heard her father’s voice. “You are stronger than all of them. Believe in the gods and goddesses. Believe in your powers.”

Then Torque yelled out, forced his hands from Salina, and kept his palms forward toward her father.

Her father yelled out in pain and fell to the rug.

  “Bite her now,” Torque ordered.

“No!” she screamed as Jeremiah bit into her skin.

The pain was so terrible she screamed out in agony, and in her mind her men roared in anger.

“You belong to Carbarone now. Submit to him and his brothers or your father and your mates die,” Torque threatened.

Her father moaned. In her mind she felt the defeat, she heard her mates roar in pain, and she feared for their lives, for her father’s life.

Pain radiated in her shoulder. The blood oozed from her skin and Jeremiah licked it as he pressed his body against hers. She felt the tingling, burning sensation move through her blood. Jeremiah was of wolf and vampire. He was a killer, an evil criminal who took what he wanted. He, his brothers, and their father took females from their mates and tried to force the bond upon them just as he was doing to her now.

  She saw
the women who were taken, including two that belonged to the men who were murdered, the ones from her investigation.

“No!” She roared out as his blood seeped within her skin and she knew the combination weakened her. Were blood, vampire blood, wizard, angel, it was all boiling inside of her.

She felt Jeremiah’s hands everywhere on her, against her breasts as he squeezed her and licked and suckled her skin.

She sobbed and felt her mates less and less as Torque chanted something. He was using some kind of spell or something and she was becoming weaker. She called out to her mates and then felt as if they had given up right before they left her mind. Suddenly she was empty.

  “No,” she sobbed.

“Yes. It worked. They are gone, dead to you now. Take your place where you belong.” Torque ran his hands over her body and she felt a numbing sensation right before she closed her eyes and passed out.

  Chapter 15

“Did you feel that?” Quinn asked as the pain struck his chest and he nearly faltered as he walked from the plane.

“All of it. I felt and heard all of it,” Delaney replied.

“He fucking bit her. Jeremiah bit our mate,” Brady said and then growled.

“We must get to her. Something blocked us from telling her we were on our way. It has to be Torque,” Angus said.

“That fucker dies. I call fucking dibs on him,” Adrian said.

“Only if I don’t get my hands on him first, brother,” Eagan added.

“We need to handle this accordingly. I don’t trust Torque. His powers are strong and I think some extra backup might be in order,” Angus said.

“I’m on it now,” Brady replied and then pulled out his cell phone.

“Ava, what exactly do you suggest we do?” Mick asked his mate as his brothers gathered around them. They were in the castle and word spread about the attack on Skylar Pack.
