He shakes his head. “That’s not going to help. Nothing is ever as it seems around here, Divine. I’m more than just a chef. Trust me.”

His words ring in my head. I know who I trust. I know in my gut who will find my husband and return him to me safe. I pull my phone and call the one number I never thought I would have to.

I hold my breath while the phone rings. “Hello.”

“Hello, Uri,” I say when he picks up. “Please, I need your help. Someone has taken Omid.”

  Chapter 39

  Black on Black

  Val

With all of our children and busy schedules we have to spend our late nights training and honing our skills. When we can turn it into sexy time too, it’s a win-win. Eyes on Uri as he stares at my breasts heaving in my sheer bodysuit, I lick my lips and flop backward, tossing out a blade.

He ducks and smiles. Running at me, he throws a left then a right. I weave out of the way, grasping his wrist. He flips the hold, wrapping my wrist in his long fingers instead. Spinning me into his body, my back hits his front. His sweaty chest presses into me, his breath tickles the hairs on my neck.

“What’s the matter, Bella Donna? You’re getting slow in your old age?” he teases.

He slides his hand over my breast, down my stomach, between my legs. I moan and bite my lip. He pushes aside the fabric and slips his fingers inside.

“No, not slow. Tired of playing. You can’t beat me, so just shut up and fuck me,” I taunt.

His laugh rumbles through my back, his cock twitching against my ass through his pants. I close my eyes when he pushes his fingers into me. He latches onto my neck sucking. I spread my legs, giving him more access.

He works me like the master he is. My cries fill the workout room just as his phone rings. I stiffen, it’s too late for anyone to be calling. Which means it’s business and not the good kind.

Uri pulls his fingers from my body, grumbling to himself. He pops the digits in his mouth as he moves to retrieve his phone and answer. “Hello,” he answers and listens to the voice on the other end.

I move to the other side of the room, my heels clicking on the floor. Rolling my shoulder, I grab two blades from my leg strap and get ready to throw them at the target.

“Slow down, Divine. Tell me what’s going on,” Uri says.

Chest heaving with sweat, I pause in my tracks at the mention of her name. I whip around, clenching the blades in my hands. My eyes narrow as I watch Uri listen to her.

“It will be okay. I’m on the way. I will make calls… Don’t worry, mia amica. I will find him. It is done.”

“Che cos'è?” I ask, moving to stand in front of him.

“Omid has been abducted outside of Kevin’s restaurant,” he murmurs as he shoots off texts.

  “Excuse me?”

He lifts his eyes to look at me. “I will take care of it.”

I slide the knives back into the holster on my thigh and reach for my phone on the table. I start to dial and walk away. I’m coiled tighter than a snake around its prey.

  “Morte Nera,” Uri calls.

“You know how I feel about her. None of my girls will be without their husbands, Hush. You fuck with my family you get nothing but Morte Nera,” I call over my shoulder.

“People are starting to think we’re crazy. Can we scale back a bit this time?” I can hear the mirth in his voice. I’m not in the mood.

  “No.”

He roars with laughter behind me. “We leave in ten. Put on some clothes.”

I wave a hand at him and put the phone to my ear. “Hey, Val what’s up?” the sleepy voice on the other end says.

“Someone has disrespected me in your city.”

“Say no more. What do you need?”

“Wake your husband and his brothers. Find Omid Vahid and when you find him. You keep him safe while you wait for us. Whoever has him answers to me.”

“It’s the Black Brother poker night. They’re already here. We’re on it. See you soon.”

She ends the call and I make my next one. “Sim, we’re going to L.A.”

  “Got it. Anything special?”

“I get the feeling I’m going to need you and Michael to do a little something for me.”

  “Sounds doable.”

She hangs up. I see a text from Tasha letting me know she’s getting dressed and will be at the plane. No doubt Uri called LaSalle.

Don’t worry, sis. Your husband will be home soon. Only one meeting their maker is the motherfucker that took him.

  Wyatt

“You’re always cheating,” Brax grunts at Ryan, tossing popcorn at him.

Poker night has become the new thing since going to the bar is less our speed these days. Occasionally, we’ll go from drinks at some lounge type bar to kick back but this is where it’s at.

Glancing around at my brothers, I can’t help grinning. I’m proud of them all. They’ve all gotten their shit together and are happy.

“It’s not my fault you suck,” Ryan shoots back at Brax. “You’re just mad Heather’s going to kick your ass for losing all your money to me.”

Braxton flips him the bird. Johnathan tries not to laugh too hard as his daughter lies against his chest fast sleep. My kids have probably taken over my bed trying to sleep up under their mother. I’ll be lucky if I can get my cock wet tonight. Nora has found her way into our bed every night this week.

I’ve been gagging Nelly with her own panties to get quickies in at the office. I shake my head again. Boy has life changed.

I probably scarred my son for life after he walked in on me with his mom cuffed to the bed. Don’t have to worry about John’s freaky ass teaching that one anything. I still don’t know how long my son was standing there.

“What’s that look about?” Noah asks me.

“Man, my home is turning into a mad house. I woke up with Evan’s foot in my mouth this morning.”

Ha,” Noah laughs. “At least it wasn’t a little shitty ass.”

“Tell me about it. The twins are taking over all free time with all the shit Kamara has them signed up for. I tripped over soccer cleats and soggy swimsuits this morning.”

“You don’t have anyone to pick that shit up, King Toby?” Brax taunts.

  “Fuck you.”

Noah snorts. “I’m still asking myself why I keep making babies.”

We all laugh at that. My phone buzzes on the table next to my wrist as I look at my cards. I look down at the text Uri Donati just sent and my blood starts to boil. I toss my cards on the table and start to bark orders to my brothers.

“Just got a text from Kevin,” Felix says. “He’s sending me the footage from his cams. The more eyes, the faster we can find him.”

“Got a text from LaSalle,” Toby calls out.

“Boss, just got a call from Val. She wants us to find the Doc.”

I look up in time to see Johnathan glaring at his girl. Shit never changes around here. These two will drive you crazy if you let them. I purse my lips.

“Already on it,” John says. “You’re staying home though.”

“Yeah, okay. Sure, babe.” I don’t know why he thinks she’ll ever listen to him. She stands with her phone to her ear, staring at her nails. “Yeah, Cass. I need to drop the kids off for a bit. Great. Thanks.”

  “Un-fucking-believable,” John grumbles.

“No time for it tonight,” I snap. “Omid is one of our friends. Let’s do this. Find him. Now.”

  Chapter 40

  The Wrong Man

  Omid

I’ve regained consciousness and I’m livid. I can taste the salt from my blood as I drag my tongue across my busted lip. They haven’t removed the sack from my head, probably out of fear. They’ve fucked up.

I wasn’t the target. They’ve been arguing as they wait for whoever’s calling the shots. I remain as calm as I can, hoping someone saw something and help is on the way.

“What the fuck is this?” A
new voice growls. He has an Italian accent. “I wanted the wife. Why the fuck is he here?”

They start to explain in Italian what went wrong. “We’ve been trying to snatch her for weeks. She’s never alone. She’s either with the big black guy, the old Arabi or this one. You said we were out of time. When he appeared alone we grabbed him. Someone is better than no one.”

They have to be talking about Terrance and Navid. However, what has me burning with anger is the fact that they were trying to kidnap my wife.

  My wife.

“Whoever you are, you’ve fucked with the wrong man. Do you know who I am?” I scoff. “No, you couldn’t. There’s no way you would’ve come for me or my wife if you knew who you were coming for.”

“You’re a pussy doctor. Why the fuck should we be worried about you?” The newest guy snorts.

I tilt my head and release a deep laugh. Of course. They’ve kidnapped Dr. O.V-Shah. No one in this room knows they’ve taken Prince Omid Vahid. If they heard the name Vahid alone they’d piss their pants.

“Incontrerai la tua morte,” I snarl.

His laugh rings out. “I’ll meet my death? You’re the one that will pay for not minding your own fucking business. Nobody asked you to stick your nose into shit that has nothing to do with you.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?”

“The little bitch in Italy. You’re going to stop helping her and her little bastard. Then you’re going to call off the search for her husband. He don’t need to be found.”

My thoughts turns a few times before the young woman in the village in Italy comes to mind. I haven’t checked on her in months with everything going on here. I’ve made sure she gets money and I still have people trying to find her husband.

“Let me guess. You’re the husband?”

“We were never married. I faked the marriage. I have a wife and kid here. I needed that little problem to go away. I thought she and the kid wouldn’t make it once she started have trouble. Then here you come, fucking shit up by saving her,” he replies.

“Aren’t you the world’s biggest gentleman.”

“Yeah, fuck you too. You can’t be so great yourself. The fat Arab that found me had a whole lot to say about your ass,” he seethes back.

I sit up at this. My brother comes to mind right way. I won’t correct him on the fact that we’re not Arab. No, I want him to keep talking about the fat Arab that sent him for my wife.

“You’re after my wife for him?”

“Fifty grand to deliver her to him. After that he promised to get you out of my fucking business. Your people meddling and asking questions is bad for business. Bad enough we have to work under the table with this fucking Alliance in play. Whole world has gone to shit,” he grumbles.

“Do you know the penalty for touching a member of the Alliance or one connected to them?”

“Those bastards will slaughter any unlucky son of a bitch that goes after… Wait… what do you know about the Alliance?”

“What name did the fat Arab give you? Who did he tell you I am?”

  “You’re a cunt doctor. Dr. O.V-Shah.”

Just as I thought. Paiman sent them to their deaths. No doubt on purpose to cover his tracks. My brother wants the type of power the twins have. He knows what would happen to him and these fucks if they’re found out.

“He lied. Or should I say he didn’t give you the full truth. My name is Omid Vahid, cousin to Remi and Ramses Vahid. Does that ring a bell?”

Silence fills the air. You could hear a pin drop. The tension that fills the air has me licking my lips. He understands exactly what I’m telling him.

“Ah fuck. Fuck. Shit. Fuck, fuck, fuck. We need to get the fuck out of here. Now,” he bellows.

They start to scramble. Panic and fear taking on a scent. I tug at the ropes around my wrists.

  “What about him?”

“Leave him here. We’ll make an anonymous call or something when we’re far the fuck away from here. Shit. We need to go. Everybody let’s go.”

I grin with satisfaction. I wish I could see the looks on their face. Uri sat me down in New York and revealed all the things I didn’t know. I’ve always known my cousins were dangerous men. I just didn’t know how dangerous until Uri shared the things they’ve chosen to shield me from. I can’t say any of it surprised me.

Remi and Ramses have always been different and lead mysterious lives. They’re the type to get things done. I’ve never asked how.

“What the fuck happened to the lights?” Someone shouts.

  “Fuck!”

Arms wrap around me and I go to struggle. “Relax. It’s me, Noah. It’s about to be a blood bath in here. I’m going to get you out before those two psychos get to work.”

I relax and nod as he pulls the sack from my head and unties me. He places night vision glasses on me. I look around me to see Wyatt, Braxton, and Noah with large guns as they surround me.

“Let’s move,” Wyatt says. We move quickly, heading out the door of the building they held me in.

When we’re outside, Lasalle and Tasha stand waiting with their arms folded as if overseeing it all. “It’s all yours, Morte Nera. You guys have fun.”

  Val

We stand outside the old movie studio building waiting for the signal that they have Omid safe and secure. He’s been in there long enough. Snipers have been in the rafters, ready to pull the trigger if needed.

I’m glad we waited. The leader of this operation arrived just before those of us from New York arrived. Felix was able to get all the information we needed on him within minutes. He’s the one I want.

Wyatt’s voice hits my ear giving me the all clear. Morte Nera comes to life, thirsty for blood and revenge. They’ll all pay tonight.

“Thanks, Black,” I say into the earpiece. “Turn the lights back on. I want them to see their deaths coming.”

  “You got it,” Felix replies.

I look into Uri’s eyes and cock my guns one after the other. He nods and we enter the building they were keeping Omid in. I lick my lips and move forward, the taste of death in the air. I can hear their souls whimper with the knowledge that I’m near. I have no remorse. They deserve this.

Head shots, head shots. Fuck with mine I’m coming for your brains. I bob my head to the chant in my head. Uri and I move in sync. He’s at my side breathing, moving, and shooting with me. Black death and the Hush that comes with it.

We’ve warned the world. I don’t know why they refuse to listen. We won’t come for them if they follow the rules.

  Don’t fuck with ours.

I’m even kind enough to use infrared tonight. They get a single warning before the end. I think it’s courteous of me.

“Behind,” Uri says. I move out of the way before he shoots at someone trying to come up behind me.

I nod my thanks. “Let’s finish this.”

  “Done.”

I see the one I’m after trying to get away. Uri nods for me to go after him. I wink at my husband and blow him a kiss.

He covers me as I run down the bastard that disrespected the family. Come to find out he’s had his hands in shit we’ve forbidden. The Alliance is firm in its rules. I’m taking this personally. He’s been in Italy committing these transgressions. My husband and I won’t have it.

“Don’t make me chase you,” I warn. I toss a blade into his shoulder when he doesn’t heed my warning. I send another into the back of his leg. “I guess you have a fucking hearing problem too.”

I saunter over to where he has fallen to the ground whimpering. He hasn’t begun to know pain. I squat beside him.

Reaching for the blade in his shoulder, I drag it across to the other side opening him from shoulder blade to shoulder blade. My tongue sticking out of the side of my mouth, my lips turn up in a smile.

His screams are the beginning of his penance. Reaching for the knife lodged in his leg, I drag from the crease of his leg down to his ankle. More scr
eams pour from his filthy mouth.

“When I say no selling drugs in my Italian cities, I’m not saying it to hear myself speak. You seem to think I gave you an exception. Or wait, did you think my husband gave you a pass. Baby?” I call out. “Did this piece of shit get a pass from you?”

The gunfire has ceased. They’re all dead, save for the two I ordered be handled for me. The girls have them.

I plan to send a message. I don’t like being disrespected. Doing what you want under my nose is pure disrespect. Touching one of my family members—blood or not—well, you’re just asking for it.

“No, Love. I didn’t,” Uri says calmly.

This piece of shit won’t stop screaming in pain. It’s getting on my damn nerves. I fire a shot into his hand. That will teach him not to touch things that don’t belong to him.

“Shut the fuck up,” I snarl. “You were man enough to come for my family. You be man enough to face the consequences.”

He clamps his mouth shut, sobbing and sniveling. “I… didn’t know. He wanted… me to get… the girl. My guys fucked up… and took the doc. He didn’t tell me… the right name. I had no… idea who the doc was. It was… supposed to be… the wife. I… didn’t… know.”

I tighten my jaw. He’s not helping himself. He’s sending me further into my rage. They were after Divine. I’m going to finish him and everyone else involved.

I’ve taken to her like a little sister. She’s sweet and innocent, not that I don’t think she’d fit into the Bella Mafia. It’s just not for her. I’m protective of all my girls but more so of Divine.

“Shame. You should’ve done your own homework,” I says unmoved. “Tell me, who sent you. Give me a name.”

“I don’t… have one. He was a fat Arab. From the pictures… he gave me… of the doctor they… they look like they could… be related.” He takes pause and sobs. “His eyes… were darker. He came to me… gold rings. He wore… gold rings.”
