Being the Bikers' Old Lady Page 17

by Marla Monroe

“Not going to happen. She isn’t leaving here and neither are you. My brothers are even as we speak surrounding you. One of them already has a bead on you. He’ll split your head open like a ripe cantaloupe if you move one muscle in your hand holding that knife. He’s an ex-sniper who was in Special Forces overseas for six years. He knows just where to hit you that will paralyze your muscles so that you drop dead without a twitch. Seems like it’s straight through the eye, but I’m not a sniper.” Walker kept talking in a calm, steady voice in hopes he’d unnerve the man so he’d make a mistake. He also prayed he wasn’t wrong and that his brothers were out there ready to act.

I can’t let anything happen to her. I fucking love her. Butch and I just found the one woman who could rock both our worlds and doesn’t like playing games any more than we do.

Walker shoved that thought aside and concentrated on the hand holding the knife against Delta’s neck. He’d already cut her enough that a thin trickle of blood had made its way down her neck to disappear into her blouse where he had no idea how much blood she was actually losing.

“Delta. Can you hear me? Are you okay?” he called out to ask.

“Pretty good if you don’t count the overwhelming aftershave he insists on wearing. It stinks, and now that he’s sweating, it’s nauseating, too,” she said.

Good girl. Keep feeding me information.

Now he knew for sure the other man was nervous since he was sweating. That gave him the assurance he needed to keep from undermining his confidence. As long as Walker was able to keep him off-guard, it gave the others more time to arrive and set up.

I sure as hell hope they are out there setting up. I’m staking not only mine but Delta’s life on that, too. I refuse to let her down. I’ve sworn to keep her safe, and now she’s in the hands of a crazy, perverted bastard.

The glint of something caught his attention. He resisted turning his head to look but managed to look using his peripheral vision and nearly sighed in relief to see the blackened barrel of Turbo’s sniper rifle. If the man hadn’t wanted him to know he was there, Walker never would have. He’d obviously used a mirror to catch the light overhead and flash him. There wasn’t a shiny surface on his rifle for just that reason. Snipers had to remain invisible.

Now Walker relaxed. Just as soon as Aaron, Delta’s bastard ex moved into position without Delta being in the way, Turbo would take the shot and rid the world of a useless piece of humanity who was trying to take his property away, the love of his life and his best friend’s perfect mate. Those didn’t come around but once in a lifetime, and Walker refused to let this one die in front of him.

He took a chance in hopes the man would give up or at the very least, release Delta. He called out. “Sound off, men!”

He heard shouts from at least twelve and realized that somehow they’d gotten the message and driven in to help. He needed to try to get Aaron to either release Delta or turn in the right direction for Turbo to take the shot that was needed. A single shot directly through the eye would accomplish what they needed despite his wish they could avoid the bloodshed.

Looking over at Delta’s battered face and the trail of blood running down her neck, that worry over spilling a little blood evaporated. All he wanted now was to get Delta safely home and for Turbo to split the bastard’s head wide open.

As if on cue, the soft wisp of something blew past him, and Aaron dropped like a sack of potatoes. The knife dropped from his hand without causing any more damage to Delta’s throat. He was across the short expanse of ground in an instant and nearly collided with Butch who’d come from the opposite direction.

He didn’t push Butch aside. Instead he pulled him into a bear hug with a sigh of relief at seeing him before they both pulled a shaking Delta between them. He’d never felt so helpless or afraid in his life. It wasn’t a feeling he ever wanted to repeat.

“I thought I’d lost you,” Butch said before Walker got the chance.

“I didn’t know what to do. I tried to fight him, but he kept putting the knife under my neck, and I had to stop. I knew if he got me in that car I was as good as dead anyway, but I didn’t know what to do,” she said with tears in her eyes as well as her throat.

Walker pulled her from Butch’s arms and squeezed her so tightly she squeaked, and he released some of the tension he had in his arms.

“What in the hell were you doing going alone into that office with a strange man in the first place?” Walker demanded, his temper finally winning out over his relief that she was safe.

“I don’t know. I didn’t think. I thought it was the safety inspector or the fire marshal wanting more money to let the numbers alone. It never occurred to me that it would be anyone else. I mean, every time you checked on him, he was still at home,” she said, looking a little less relieved and a little more worried as she stared up into his eyes.

“I told Penny to immediately go find you and send you to my office,” she said, trying to prove she’d been trying to obey the rules.

“She did, but we were circling each other. I was looking for you, and she was looking for me. Little things like that are all it takes to let something small get out of hand. Remember that, Delta,” Walker said.

“Maybe she needs something else to help her remember. Then maybe next time she won’t forget the rules as easily,” Butch suggested.

Delta looked from him to Walker and one hand reached down behind her to rub her ass. Oh yeah. She knew exactly what Butch was suggesting. Walker smiled.

Walker removed the towel they’d used on her neck to stop the bleeding and checked to see if it had stopped. Satisfied that it had, Walker nodded at Butch, and the other man picked their woman up and tossed her carefully over his shoulder before carrying her toward his bike.

“I’ll be on as soon as we clean this up and close down the bar,” he called out.

Butch waved one hand in the air to let him know he’d heard them. Walker watched them for a few seconds, then turned to find everyone doing their jobs. The body had already disappeared. With Turbo having taken the shot, the silencer had kept anyone from hearing. The club had kept everyone away from the area while it had been going down, and now they worked to cover the blood with gravel.

Making sure all the women got to their cars and the bar was locked up tight took longer than Walker would have liked, but he didn’t half do a job. As soon as he made it back to the club, his heart began to beat a little more normally once again. He’d been antsy and needed to see Delta again to reassure himself she really was alive and safe.

When he opened the door to their rooms, he was greeted with the sight of Butch walking naked from the bathroom with an equally naked Delta in his arms. He nodded at Walker before carefully settling her in the middle of the bed.

“Go ahead and shower, man. You’ve got junk all over you.” Butch slipped between the sheets next to Delta and pulled her into his arms. She still looked a little shell-shocked to him.

Walker showered in record time, but made sure he got all the blood off of him and out of his hair before he stepped out and quickly dried off. When he joined them in the bed, Delta was still awake. He snuggled up next to her and kissed her nose.

“You scared me to death, baby girl. I thought we were going to lose you,” he said. “We just found you, Delta. I don’t ever want to feel this way again, like my entire world was being sucked down the drain.”

“I’m sorry, Walker.” She turned to Butch. “I’m really sorry. I’ve never been so scared in my life. I didn’t want to die. I wanted to stay with the two of you. You make me happy and really care about me. I-I love you. I didn’t want to believe it, then I wanted to pretend it wasn’t true, but I can’t anymore. I love the two of you more than anything in this world.”

“Darling, I love you so much it scares me. I’m afraid that losing you would send me off the deep end. You fill a hole inside of me that’s been empty for so long I never thought about it much until I felt you there making yourself at home.
” Butch kissed her knuckles while Walker held a strand of her hair under his nose.

He loved how she smelled fresh from a shower, clean and natural without lotions or artificial scents. It made him want to lick her all over and inhale the different flavors of what made her Delta. He was so fucked up over her that just thinking of being without her made his heart skip a beat.

“We’re never letting you go, darling. You belong to us now. You’re wearing our colors, and our names are on your jacket,” Butch told her.

“You’re our old lady, Delta and belong on the back of our bike and in our bed. Don’t ever forget that,” Walker told her.

“As your old lady, I expect to be treated like a queen. I might not have a ring on my finger, but if either of you ever even look at another woman I’ll put a leash around your balls, got it?” she told them, giving them a serious scowl that was completely ruined due to her lying between them in bed.

“Sweet thing, you don’t have to worry about us straying. You own our hearts and our dicks,” Walker told her with a chuckle. “The thing is. We don’t trust that you really accept that being our old lady makes you permanently ours, so we’ve talked about it and just as soon as we can get it arranged, we’re putting a ring on your finger and marrying you for real.”

“Both of you?” The surprised look on her face was priceless.

Walker chuckled. “Officially you’ll marry me, but in the eyes of anyone who counts, you’re marrying us both.

Butch leaned over and kissed her on the nose. “Will you do us the honor of being our official, legally recognized old lady?”

Walker watched as some emotion he wasn’t familiar with flitted across her face. Then she squealed and threw her arms around Butch and kissed him like a mad woman before turning to Walker and giving him the same treatment. Somehow it was all perfect. No matter how the night had started out, this was the stuff of dreams, and for two hardened old bikers, believing in dreams wasn’t easy.

He pulled Delta back into his arms to squeeze her and assure himself that she was really there with them and theirs to love, cherish, and protect. Now that the threat to their woman was lifted, all the things they’d done to limit her outside exposure were lifted as well. It was another reason they wanted to put rings on her fingers. She was free to leave if she desired. They wanted to give her reasons to stay, not leave.

“I love you both so much. You’ve made me the happiest old lady ever. As much as I want to call my sister and tell her about you two, I’m afraid I’ll never get off the phone. I’ll call her tomorrow as I have plans for the three of us that may just last all night. Anyone game?” she asked with a twinkle in her eye.

Walker and Butch both agreed. Her plans were going to be perfect. They were positive because anything that had to do with Delta was bound to be fucking amazing.
