Melissa’s tongue darted in and out of Julia quickly, almost angrily, but she didn’t stop until every last drop of Matthew’s seed was safely cleansed from Julia’s cunt.

By the time she was done, Jullia could barely even remember her own fear. Instead only the pleasure remained.

A deeply burning pleasure only barely tainted with her own guilt.

“Good girl.” Matthew slapped Melissa’s ass. “Now get over to the other side of the room, and I might just get a milking station ready for you, too. And who knows. If you’re good, I might even be persuaded to remove that chastity belt, too.”

Melissa’s lips tightened into a thin, white grimace, but she didn’t speak. She didn’t dare. Instead, she obeyed just as Julia knew she would and slowly planted herself on the other side of the room.

Matthew chuckled. “Just minutes ago the little bitch thought she could threaten me, and now just look at her. Not so high and mighty anymore, is she, Jewel?”

Matthew patted Julia’s leather bound head, but she didn’t reply. She just stared at the shocked and humiliated woman sitting naked across the room, her breasts leaking and her eyes still dripping tears.

And to think I once feared her.

“I’ll get her in shape,” Matthew said. “I’ll get you both in shape. Brandon promised I’d have at least a month to work on the two of you, then he gets her and I get you, my little Jewel, and we’ll go back home free and clear. You’ll even get your old stall back. I kept it for you, you know. And then everything will be as it should be. Just you and me, Jewel, together forever. Now isn’t that nice?”

Only the feeding tube kept Julia’s throat from sealing shut.

  ***

Time meant little to Julia. Whether it was day or night, she couldn’t tell. The fluorescent lights above her stayed on regardless, just like her pumps.

  And oh, God, her pumps.

They never stopped, not unless Matthew unhooked them for one of her walks. Only ever so often would he remove the bars that held her in place. He’d clip a rope to her nose ring and force her to prance around the confines of her steel and concrete home. Not that the exercise was ever for her benefit. Keeping up her muscle mass didn’t seem very high on his list of priorities. More likely he just liked to see her stumble. At least then he had justification to initiate another one of her “learning opportunities.”

  Just like now.

“Up,” he said. “Up, Jewel. Don’t make me tell you twice.”

Julia struggled to comply, but her muscles were too sore, too weak. If not for her collar, she doubted she could even hold up her head.

Matthew yanked on her rope, and stars danced behind her eyelids. How he hadn’t managed to rip her septum in two, she’d never know, but somehow it held strong.

Now if only her will would do the same.

“Up,” he said again. “Last warning, Jewel. You’ve got five seconds before I get the cattleprod.”

Somehow Julia scrambled back to her hands and knees. She made it four more steps before her elbows gave out once more and she crashed to the ground in front of Melissa’s station.

Not that Melissa seemed to notice.

Julia’s gaze drifted to the woman beside her…or at least what was left of her. Her head had been shaved and covered with a cowprint mask similar to the one Julia wore. A giant silver ring hung from her nose while breasts the size of watermelons swung beneath her, each one attached to the long, metal pumps that milked her while she grazed at her feeding trough.

Julia had honestly expected the woman to give Matthew at least a bit of a fight, but after that first day, she’d all but embraced her fate with open arms.

Maybe she was meant to be a cow, Julia thought. Or maybe it was just all the Laculin he kept giving her.

Julia stared up at the woman’s glassy, soulless eyes and wondered if she’d soon share the same vacant gaze as the former lady in red. Matthew hadn’t given her another dose of Laculin since she’d first awoken in his clutches—he preferred to break her spirit the old fashioned way, after all.

But he did promise you a surprise today, and you know his surprises are never good.

Julia shivered just thinking about the last gift he’d given her. Those ponygirl boots had been her first glimpse into the life he’d had planned for her, and now that she was completely within his control, she wondered what special something he had in mind for her today.

“Jewel, Jewel, Jewel, what am I going to do with you?” Matthew shook his head before kneeling down beside her. “All I ask for is obedience, yet you refuse to obey even the simplest of commands. You know I’ll have to punish you, right?”

Julia’s heart beat faster. She struggled to push herself onto her knees, but her muscles were too weak to obey.

  Matthew chuckled.

“Too late for that.” He looped an arm underneath her waist and scooped her up off the floor. “But don’t worry, your punishment can wait until later. Your big surprise should be here shortly, and I wouldn’t want you to miss him.”

  Him?

Julia barely noticed Matthew place her back in her milking unit. She tried to think of all the men her ex-fiancé could possibly be talking about, but the only one she could focus on was his lordship.

But Matthew couldn’t get to him, could he? He’s the lord of Farthington Hall. He took down a human bull with nothing but his bare hands. He’s strong, he’s smart, he’s...

Matthew pulled a stiletto out of the cabinet behind him and slid it into the back of his pants.

“You didn’t think I’d let that rich bastard live, did you?” Matthew asked. “Like I told you before you ran away, you’re mine Julia. If you ever found another man, I swore I’d kill him, and I intend to make good on those words.”

Julia tried to shake her head, but of course it wouldn’t move. She couldn’t move. She couldn’t do anything but stand in her milking unit and wait for the unthinkable to happen.

He’s just bluffing. He has to be bluffing.

Matthew’s cellphone rang, and he answered it immediately.

“Brandon?” he said. “You’ve got him. Good, I’ve got everything set up. Just bring him here, and we’ll settle this matter permanently…Of course I’ve got the incinerator ready, just make sure the bastard gets here, and make sure he comes alone. I don’t want half of Scotland Yard on his heels, understood? Good, I’ll be waiting.”

He turned off his phone, and Julia’s stomach sank.

“Now, my little Jewel, let’s just get you hooked up here. Those udders look a little full.”

He attached her cups and turned on the suction. Like always, moisture dripped from her cunt as she moaned from the sheer pleasure of her milking.

No, you can’t let yourself get lost in the pleasure now. His lordship’s in danger. You have to do something. You have to—

He turned up the power, and her eyes rolled back. She barely noticed when he pulled back her lips to hook up her feeding tube.

“You really should be thanking me, Julia. I held off on the Laculin just so you could give that English bastard a proper goodbye. But now that he’s on his way, that’s going to change. I’ve got a triple dose right here ready for you, and I’d say it’s about time we put it down the hole.”

Matthew emptied a giant vial of Laculin through the open end of her feeding tube, and Julia’s heart beat even faster.

“Just think, by this time tomorrow, you’ll be just like your friend over there.”

He pointed towards Melissa, but the woman didn’t look up. She just continued to graze as the twin pumps sucked and pulled at her gigantic teats.

Nausea pressed at the back of Julia’s throat, but she pushed it away. She couldn’t think of herself right now. It was his lordship that mattered. She had to figure out some way to save his lordship, but how?

A key turned the lock in the door behind her.

  “And our guest arrives.”

She barely heard Matthew’s words. Instead, she could only wa
tch in the mirror as the door slowly opened. His lordship entered first. She recognized his strong shoulders and dark hair immediately. Behind him, though, was another man, the same man that had sold her to him, a man he trusted, a man she thought was her friend until he’d abducted her a second time and delivered her into a worse hell than anything she could have ever imagined.

“It’s Brandon,” Julia tried to scream. “He’s in on it. He’s going to kill you.”

But as hard as she tried to communicate, all that came through was a high pitched squeal that was insensible even to her own ears.

“Jewel?” His lordship’s eyes widened as he took a step towards her. “Sweet Lord, what have they done to you?”

“What?” Matthew asked. “I thought you liked cows. I swear, I just can’t seem to make sense of you English.”

Matthew stroked Julia’s head, and his lordship’s hands tightened into fists. Behind him, Brandon reached into his pocket.

Don’t look at me, Julia wanted to scream. Behind you. You have to look behind you.

Lord Ashe’s gaze didn’t waver from her form, however, and sobs filled her chest when he took another step closer.

“First you say you want something then you don’t.” Matthew let out a deep sigh. “It’s very confusing. Why, just look at your old friend Melissa here. She surrounds herself with a whole dairy full of heifers, and when I decide to turn her into one, she tries to fight me. Ridiculous really. I mean, just look at what a good cow she makes.”

As if on cue, Melissa let out a long, deep moo.

His lordship stalked closer. “I’m going to kill you, you bastard.”

Matthew chuckled. “Now see, this is what I’m talking about. Here you are trying to act all high and mighty, and you don’t even have the sense to know you’re outnumbered.”

Lord Ashe’s gait faltered. Realization dawned upon his face, but before he could turn around, Brandon already had the taser pressed against his back.

And then he pulled the trigger.

  No!

Julia fought against her restraints, but she couldn’t get free. All she could do was watch as his lordship fell to the ground. His body seized. His face contorted into a pain-filled grimace that she knew would haunt her until the day she died.

“Sorry, James,” Brandon said. “Nothing personal, you know. I’m just ready to start off on my own, have my own dairy, you know, really live the dream, and as long as Farthington Hall keeps monopolizing the human cow field, my business plans don’t really stand a chance.”

Brandon put a knee on his lordship’s back before grabbing each of Lord Ashe’s wrists.

“What the hell are you doing?” Matthew asked.

Brandon pulled a pair of handcuffs out of his jacket pocket. “Restraining him. What do you think?”

Matthew slapped the cuffs out of Brandon’s hands. “I didn’t tell you to bring him here so I could chain him up. I plan to kill him.”

“Yeah, and in the meantime, I’m telling you, we’d better keep him restrained. You don’t know this guy. If he gets loose—”

Matthew plunged his stiletto into Lord Ashe’s back before Brandon could even finish speaking. Blood blossomed across the center of his lordship’s jacket. More erupted from his mouth when a fit of coughing overtook his still-spasming body.

This time Julia couldn’t keep the bile from reaching her tongue.

“How do you like your bastard lord now, Jewel?” Matthew asked her. “Not so handsome when he’s all covered in blood.”

Sobs heaved through Julia’s chest. Get up. Come on, you’ve got to get up. She prayed as hard as she could, but Lord Ashe barely moved. The back of his suit jacket was a mess of blood and torn fabric. His arms, previously pinned behind his back, now lay limply by his side exactly where Brandon had dropped them.

You’re stronger than this, she wanted to scream. I’m the weak one. I’m the victim, not you.

But no matter how much she wanted her words to be true, she knew they weren’t. Matthew wasn’t just a monster, he was a maniac. She should have known better than to run away from him. If she had, his lordship wouldn’t be lying in a pool of his own blood right now. He wouldn’t be…dying.

  Tears spilled from her eyes.

This is my fault. Sweet Lord, this is all my fault.

“Tell you what, Jewel. How about I save a memento for you? You’d like that, wouldn’t you? All I’d have to do is cut off the bastard’s face and then you can look at it as long as you please. Maybe I’ll even pin it up in your stall. I don’t guess you’ll have much of a mind left by then, but hey, it’s the thought that counts, right?”

Julia’s stomach heaved again, and once more bile filled her mouth. From deep within, though, a more dangerous sensation took root: heat.

Not now, she wanted to scream, but of course the Laculin didn’t listen. It was already inside her. She remembered how fast it had taken hold the first time, and now Matthew had given her a triple dose. A triple dose!

No, she told herself. Just hold it together. Think. You have to think. His lordship needs you. Surely there’s something you can do.

Barely an arm’s reach in front of her Matthew lifted the knife to Lord Ashe’s face. Slowly he pressed the blade against his lordship’s jawline, and Julia’s breath froze.

“That is sick, man.” Brandon shoved the knife away. “And stupid, too. You know we can’t keep any evidence.”

“I’ll keep whatever I damn well please,” Matthew said. “This is my show.”

“Your show? Listen, man, if it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t even be here. I’m the one who found your runaway. I’m the one who took her to that dairy and got James here interested in her. And I’m the one talked Melissa into bringing you here and giving you free run of this place. If it wasn’t for me, your Jewel here would still be hiding out and making you look like the fool you are, so don’t you think you can—”

A slit throat silenced Brandon for good.

“And you call me the fool.” Matthew shook his head as Brandon slid to the floor beside Lord Ashe. “Well, Jewel, it looks like we’ll be taking you little friend Melissa with us after all. How do you like that? Now I won’t have to worry about leaving you alone when I’m gone.”

  Alone?

Julia tried to make sense of the word, but thinking was so hard. The fire that had started in her chest had spread all the way to her toes. She struggled to breathe, to think, to do anything.

And she had to do something, didn’t she? She just wished she could remember what it was.

Matthew patted her cheek with a bloody hand.

“Looks like the Laculin’s already taken hold, huh? Well, try to keep those eyes open a little while longer. You wouldn’t want to miss your old lord’s last moments, now would you?”

  Old lord?

Her gaze drifted back to the man on the floor, to the blood, to the red blood.

The man in red just like the woman in red. Only the woman in red isn’t in red anymore. And she isn’t a woman. She’s a cow. Just like I’m a cow. I’m a cow, and I have a lord, a master, a...

  Lover.

The word came to her with such conviction, she couldn’t doubt it’s truth. The man dying in front of her was her lover. She loved him, and he loved her. Even as the whole rest of her world crumbled around her shattering mind, she held on to that certainty just as she held on to the tiny spark of hope that ignited as soon as she saw her lord’s fingers slowly curl into a tightened fist.

All he needs is an opportunity, maybe even a distraction, and then he can get himself out of this. He can survive. He can live. He can be free, and I…

She couldn’t think about what would happen to herself. It didn’t matter. All that mattered was his lordship. He was still with her, but if she didn’t do something, he wouldn’t be much longer. Already Matthew was lifting his knife for the final strike. The stiletto gleamed in the air. Her breath caught in her chest. She tried to think, but she couldn’t breathe.

&
nbsp; She couldn’t breathe…

  Her eyes widened.

“I would ask if there was anything you’d like to say right now, Jewel, but let’s face it. Cows don’t…Jewel?”

A muted gag rippled against Julia’s fused teeth, but that didn’t stop her from shoving her tongue as far back down her throat as she could. Her chest shuddered. She caught a glimpse of her reflection, and terrified eyes stared back at her, but she didn’t give up.

“Stop fooling around, Jewel. I know you’re not really choking... Are you?”

Her eyes darted from Matthew to his lordship. Her ex-fiancé’s gaze remained fixed on her. Slowly he lowered his knife to the floor, right to where Lord Ashe’s hand was creeping forward.

“I mean it Julia. If you don’t stop that this minute…”

Her tongue hooked behind the back of her feeding tube, and suddenly Julia couldn’t stop even if she wanted to.

Her body spasmed. She fought against her restraints wildly, desperate to somehow clear her airway, but how could she? How could anyone? Her mouth was fused shut. She was choking, and no one could save her.

  She was dying.

Looks like I finally found a way to escape Matthew for good.

If she wasn’t so damned afraid, she might have smiled at the realization.

“Damnit, Jewel, I said stop it.” Matthew slapped her hard across the left cheek. “Stop it. Stop—”

  And then he was gone.

Vaguely, she heard a scuffle, then a scream and a shriek and a crack that sounded far too terrible for anyone to survive. She tried to open her eyes, but even when she did, darkness clouded her vision. A hazy figure swayed in front of her. A gentle hand touched her cheek.

  “Hold on, Jewel.”

His lordship ripped the feeding tube from between her broken teeth, and her tongue sprang forward. Air flooded her lungs once more, and she sucked in one deep breath after the next as Lord Ashe quickly unhooked her restraints.

  “Jewel. Oh, God, Jewel…”

He lifted her into his arms. His cool hands felt wonderful against her hot skin.

Why was she so hot again?

“I’m so sorry,” he whispered into her ears. “I am so damned sorry.”
