What Up Fam,
I hope ya’ll had a great Thanksgiving and will have a blessed Christmas. As 2018 comes to a wrap, I want to thank you all for continuing to bless my family and I with your loyalty and support. These past 10 years have been amazing and we are beyond honored that you allow us to entertain you through our stories. God bless you and all you hold dear, always.
The book in your hands is getting ready to take you on a non-stop adventure. After I picked up my jaw from reading, “War”, I couldn’t wait to get into what was next for the Wales’ and Louisville’s. “War 2” is insane and I couldn’t put it down until the last page. Cancel all your plans, this book is your new bae for the next few hours!
With that being said, keeping in line with tradition, we want to give respect to a vet or new trailblazer paving the way. In this novel, we would like to recognize:
MICHELLE OBAMA
Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama does not need an introduction. She is Forever First Lady to Forever President Barack Obama and the first African-American First Lady. But, she’s much more than that. She is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law. She has just penned her memoir entitled, Becoming Michelle Obama, and it is amazing and inspiring. Make sure you add this one to your Christmas list!
Aight, I’ve kept you long enough…Get to it. I’ll catch you in the next book.
Be Easy!

PROLOGUE
TWO DAYS LATER
Chlorine.
Blood.
Those were the odors that permeated Banks’ nostrils as he opened the door leading into the large pool house. The moment he was inside, and saw what lie before him, he gasped in disbelief.
Standing near the entrance his breath rose and fell in his chest as he viewed what could only be described as a massacre. Mostly dim, only light from the pool’s surface, which was red due to the bloody water, shined against his face in wave like patterns.
Slowly he walked toward the blood bath and down the silver ladder leading into the pool. This would give him nightmares he was certain. The water was crimson thick and was littered with floating limbs that bobbled along like apples in a barrel.
Banks’ eyes grew blurry as tears covered his vision. He was forced to deal with what he didn’t want to face.
Did these limbs belong to those he loved? Was he moving past carnage that would later represent losing his entire family?
Again.
Wiping the tears away, he moved through the floating graveyard, picking up body part after part as his mind floated back to when things first got out of hand.
He didn’t want to think about the moves he made which contributed to his family’s demise. But there was no denying that this was part his fault.
Taking a deep breath he went
back to the moment where once again he found himself at odds with his most worthy adversary.
His best friend.
Mason Louisville.
FCI LOW – DORM ROOM
PRESENT DAY – CHRISTMAS EVE
Harris Kirk Wales' mouth was dry as he looked amongst the large group of inmates who stood around him. They were all invested in the story of why he had ordered a hit on inmate #11578, Linden Louisville, who was lying on the floor in his own blood.
Possibly dead.
No he didn’t want to share his story but there he was, doing just that to a group of outlaws.
Earlier in the evening Tops, another prisoner and a larger than life presence, had ousted Kirk and his involvement with the inmate to the group. In just under an hour, all were now aware that Kirk was not who he claimed to be. Instead he was Harris Kirk Wales and the dying man was Linden Louisville—and both were members of two notorious feuding families.
Taking a deep breath, Kirk sat down on a bunk bed, preparing to talk to niggas he didn’t feel he owed an explanation. And yet he was forced to do just that, as they crowded around, eager to hear more of the tale.
“So?” Byrd said waiting for him to speak. “Why you put a hit on ‘em?” He asked, looking down at the inmate #11578.
“Yeah…talk, nigga,” Clay added.
Kirk glared at them both for their disrespectful tongues.
Even after Tops made clear who Kirk was, the inmates were still too dumb to know where reckless yacking could get them. But if they weren’t careful they were gonna find themselves in a bloody way.
Kirk wiped his hand down his face. “My father tried to tell us. If nothing else he tried to warn us about the danger that was coming our way.”
“Wait…don’t you mean your mother?” Byrd laughed. “Since she a bitch and all.”
He gathered a few chuckles from the audience but that was the end of his fame.
Within a second Kirk had hit the man so hard his tooth hung loosely from his gum line, connected only by one thin strand of skin. “What the fuck!” He stood up and took off running to the bathroom, blood droplets along the way.
“Go follow him,” Tops ordered, fearing he would tell the C.O.’s about his troubles.
One of the inmates quickly complied.
While Tops sent the man to be silenced, Kirk on the other hand had plans to give it to anyone in the dorm for disrespecting Banks and the fact that he was born a woman, who lived as a man. “Anybody else got something smart to say out they face?”
Most shook their heads no.
Amused, Tops laughed.
“And you sure you wanna hear the rest?” Kirk looked in each of their eyes, and one by one they all nodded yes, especially Clay who bobbled his head so much it looked as if it would fall at his feet.
Seconds later, Byrd returned with the inmate who fetched him moments ago. He was holding bloody tissue against his gum line, and glared Kirk’s way as he took his seat.
Kirk gave it back to him in kind, ready to hit him again if he felt the need.
“Like I said, my father tried to warn us about the hate niggas had for us on the street. All he wanted was for us to get on that plane and…and…” He took a deep breath. “…and to leave Baltimore. But as you can see by my presence here with ya’ll niggas, shit ain’t go as planned. Then again, it never does.”
CHAPTER ONE
TWO DAYS EARLIER
FRIDAY EVENING
Pulling sweet smoke into his lungs, Banks was trying to relax.
Toking a cigar, he was seated outside on his deck, behind his home. His gaze was on the moon while the twenty soldiers who outlined the perimeter of his estate focused outward. Each was eager to puncture the lung or skull of a Lou or anyone else who felt breezy enough to overstep boundaries.
When his face itched, he scratched the X shape scar on his cheek that he got many years ago. Every now and again it bothered him, mainly when he was under pressure.
Like now.
It was easy to understand the cause of his dismay. If things went as planned, in a few days, he would be in the sky and on the way to Wales Island. But he was far from a dumb man, knowing that there were many out there who intended to stop him from his goal.
As he released a pillow of smoke into the air, Bet walked outside wearing a one-piece black cat suit, which framed her body like a Picasso painting. “I still can’t reach my parents.” She said standing in front of him. “I’m concerned.”
“Don’t worry,” he paused. “I’m sure they’re fine.”
“I hope so.” She took a deep breath. “You ready?”
He looked up at her beautiful face but remained silent.
Fearful he was breaking down she sat on his lap. “It’s like pulling a Band-Aid off a wound, Banks.” She touched the side of his face with red manicured nails. “Once it’s done it’s over.”
He nodded.
“Banks, talk to me.” She paused. “You know I hate when I can’t hear your voice.”
He sighed deeply, smashed the cigar into the grey marble ground and rubbed her thigh. “You don’t understand how it feels to…to feel like you gotta justify who you are, when you know what’s in your heart. You don’t think if I could be what they wanted me to be I would?” He paused. “But I am who I am.”
“I understand but—”
“But you don’t though.” He paused. “Nobody does.”
“I’m sorry.”
He sighed deeply. “What if they…what if…”
“They will love you no matter what, Banks. We raised them right. Give them a chance to decide. I think you’ll be surprised.”
As much as he hated the truth he knew she was right. Despite the fact that Spacey had not taken the news of him being female well, Harris, Joey and Minnie deserved a chance.
So he nodded and tapped her thigh once.
It was time.
“Let’s go,” he said.
“I love you.”
He winked at her and they rose.
Taking a deep breath, he smacked away the ashes that fell on his black designer t-shirt and readjusted his chain. Next he pulled up his jeans a little and looked at his wife.
Grabbing her hand, he walked into their house and into the dining room where his children awaited for the meeting. The windows were boarded up because of the gunfight so it wasn’t as lavish.
But they were Wales’.
Just their presence said luxury.
Sitting at the beautiful long dining room table was Banks’ and Bet’s children, twenty-year-old Joey, eighteen-year-old Harris and his fifteen-year-old daughter Minnesota who was referred to as Minnie.
Three trusted soldiers, who had been briefed on Banks’ sexuality, hung against the wall with weapons for their protection.
“Where is Spacey?” He asked Bet.
She shrugged. “I don’t know,” she whispered. “Didn’t wanna come I guess.”
Banks nodded and took his seat. Bet sat next to him, gripping his hand so hard she slowed the blood flow through his fingertips. It was obvious she was more worried than she let on outside.
As tight as the energy was in the room, it was just as well that Spacey wasn’t there. Besides, he already got a dose of what he was about to tell his siblings.
“Before I begin, I want to tell you why it was so important for me to keep you sheltered.”
“We understand, Pops,” Joey said. “Especially after what happened here with the shootout.”
“And I forgot to tell you something about that night too, Pops,” Harris added. “Something I saw from that window.” He pointed at one of the boards.
“Tell me later.”
“Okay, dad.”
Banks ran his hand down his beard and took a deep breath. “I kept you sheltered for so long because I knew that at any point, someone would try to make a move, just to get at me. Each of you are worth millions and…if I wasn’t so…so careful about who I had around you, somebody would’ve tried to snatch you l
ong ago.”
“Dad, what’s going on?” Joey asked. “I feel you want to say something else.”
“Yeah, dad,” Harris said. “And why Spacey mad?”
“Spacey will be Spacey.” Banks sighed. “Anyway, I have to tell you all something…something that…I mean…it may change everything.” He looked down and then up at each of them.
Harris gazed at Joey and then his father. “Is this ‘bout the island?” He paused. “’Cause I’m ready.”
“No, son.”
“Well are you okay?” Joey asked. “I mean…you not sick are you? Cause I don’t think we could handle—.”
Banks raised his hand. “No, son. I’m well.”
They all leaned forward. “Tell us, Pops,” Harris said. “We got you.”
“No matter what it is,” Joey added.
“Speak for yourself,” Minnie said, arms crossed tightly over her ‘A’ cup breasts.
Her response although hurtful, was to be expected.
Her young world had recently been tilted back after learning that not only had Banks forbid her from seeing her boyfriend Arlyndo Louisville, but that she would also have to leave the country. Forever. So she wasn’t in support of whatever her father was about to say.
Banks cleared his throat and looked down into his lap. “I was born a woman.” Instead of beating around the bush, he felt it best to give it to them straight.
Minnie uncrossed her arms and leaned forward.
Harris blinked so many times his eyes dried out.
And Joey’s jaw almost hit the table.
“Did you hear your father?” Bet asked.
Bet using the term ‘father’ and Banks saying the words ‘born a woman’ did nothing but confuse them even more.
“Dad, I’m…I don’t understand,” Joey smiled, although he felt as if he would pass out at any moment. “’Cause I thought you just said you were born a female.”
“I did.”
Minnie looked at Bet and then her brothers, before finally focusing on her father. She studied the shape of Banks’ yellow face.
It was Masculine.
The smooth black hair resting against his skin.
