“This is not over, Mr. Dackett,” said Mathias as he backed away from the counter. “I’m going to learn more. I want to see Crescent Moon and Lunaria again. And you and I both know that I am right about what I saw.” Mathias then turned from the librarian to exit the library.

Mr. Dackett shook his head as he called out to him. “Believe what you want, boy! It was all just your imagination!” Mr. Dackett then turned to the patrons, giving them a scowl. Everyone in the library still knew better than to shush him.

With Mathias gone, Mr. Dackett placed the book of Crescent Moon before him once more. Opening it softly, he ran his aged hand across the blank pages. Looking back to where Mathias had stood only moments before, the old man cracked a soft and guarded smile. Picking up the aging book, Mr. Dackett held it to his chest in earnest.

“The Prophet has spoken at last. Everything can begin again,” he whispered.
