A Little Sin Page 13

Avery sighed. “I guess you can go back to just being a veterinarian now.”

“I’ll always be your deputy,” Garland told him. “Any time you need me, I’ll be here.”

  “I’ll always need you.”

Garland sighed in the soothing darkness and pulled Avery’s head onto his chest. Katydid turned around three times at the foot of the bed and settled. The kittens scrambled onto the bed and lilted around his and Avery’s legs. The music of the crickets and frogs drifted through the cracked-open window. “I love you,” he told Avery, riffling his dark hair.

Garland could feel the lashes of Avery’s nearest eye grazing his chest. “I love you, too,” Avery said softly. “And I’m not sorry for it.”

  About the Author

Sionnach (pronounced shuhn ukh) Wintergreen is a genderqueer author of gay romance, epic fantasy, and adult fantasy. (She uses feminine personal pronouns because she has lived most of her life responding to them.) Her character-driven stories usually involve misfits because she has always been one. Her experiences as a dominatrix, preschool teacher, and grant writer for an animal rescue group color her works. She lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband, dog, and five spoiled-rotten cats. She also has a wonderful adult son.
