He closed the door behind him. It was finally time to move forward again.

  The End

  Acknowledgements

First and foremost I have to thank Sharon for joining me on this one; I simply could not have done it at such short notice without her help. On top of that, thanks go to those friends who allowed me to steal their names (or at least create ancestors for them)—Joseph Quintana, Andrew Fenn, Charles Wendt, Chris Wright, Daniel Gully, Phillip Archer, Sean Davey and Ethan Horwell. And extra thanks to both Oscar Kaski and Marcus Gilman for Finnish and German translations. Lastly, thanks to Paul Ebbs, without whom I would never have ended up co-authoring with Sharon so soon (it would have happened eventually, though), and writing what has become one of my favourite Space: 1889 scenes yet (I’ll let you all work out which one that is).

So, acknowledgements. Firstly, to Andy who seems to have unerring faith in my writing ability. I’m never quite sure whether to feel grateful for his refusal to take no for an answer or irritated, but I’m amazed at what we accomplished at such short notice and so fast. I have to thank Kevin who shares my life—many spouses aren’t as understanding when their partners fill a house with bookshelves instead of furniture, let alone have a desire to write. It’s a more important thank you than many might assume. And also thanks to Anna Pragnell Toal who I still attribute to being one of those responsible for how well I’m writing now. She was there at a turning point, helped me to polish my work to gain that first acceptance. Favourite scenes? In this book I have many. I highly recommend reading them all.
