He tore his gaze from Naya and focused on the doctor, smiling. “I’m good. Great. Lookin’ forward to findin’ out where life takes me next.”
Beth’s mouth pulled up into a smile, and she nodded approvingly. Angus looked back at Naya, who was smiling up at him now, and for what might have been the first time in his life, he was filled with a sense of accomplishment. He’d sworn he would keep Naya safe, that he wouldn’t fail yet another person, and he’d done it. They were safe. They were going to be okay.

It’s been more than six years since Broken World was published, and more than eight since I started writing it. I’ve said this time and time again over the years, but when I started creating this world, I didn’t expect much. Editors and agents in the literary industry were adamant that there was no real market for zombie books, but the idea for these characters wouldn’t leave me alone, so I went with it, hoping I would sell one or two books to people other than friends and family. Years later, I still can’t believe how well this series did. Not because it isn’t good—I love these characters and this world—but because I didn’t expect it. I had almost no marketing budget and had to rely mostly on word of mouth, but somehow it worked. Since its release in 2014, I’ve sold over seven thousand ebooks, had millions of pages read, and had over a hundred thousand downloads for Broken World alone. All these years later, this series still outsells all my other books, and I’m so thankful for the fans who have made it a success.
I hope you enjoyed seeing more of Angus, and having just finished this epic story—it’s seriously the longest book I’ve ever written—I know you’re wondering one thing. Will there be more? I don’t know. Honestly, I have so many story ideas, and there just isn’t enough time to get them all out of my head. Plus, as much as I love this series, I don’t want to only write about zombies. Having put two zombie books out this month, they’re pretty much all I’ve focused on recently, and I’m ready to spend some time on something else. That doesn’t mean, however, that I won’t ever return to this world. I definitely have plans for a couple other characters fans will be familiar with, and there’s definitely room to expand on Angus’s story now that he’s made it somewhere safe. However, even if I write more, it won’t be immediate. So please be patient with me.
I have soooo many people to thank for making this series what it is, so forgive me if I forget to mention you. I’m doing my best to remember the people who helped me over the years, but it’s been a lot of books and a lot of time, and I may forget someone.
First off, of course, I need to acknowledge the inspiration for these characters by saying a big thank you to Robert Kirkman and the entire cast, crew, and creators of The Walking Dead.
