“Wait, you know where our friends are?” Cyra’s voice cracked.

“Yeah, but we can only show you if we connect our bulbs to your temples,” Lamb replied.

“Why can’t you take us to them or bring them here?” Gypsy asked in a shaky voice.

“It’s easier if we show you,” Dewayne said in a soft low voice.

Dewayne and Lamb held their middle bulbs up to either of Cyra and Gypsy’s temples. A warm buzzing pulse of energy entered their minds as the girls closed their eyes. It was as though they were flies on a wall. They were looking inside a room that looked like the one they had escaped from. Jeffrey and Lollie were laying cots just like the ones Gypsy and Cyra woke up on, except Lollie was still unconscious and Jeffrey was screaming something that they couldn’t make out. Struggling to move as the restraints appeared to get tighter the more he moved, a grey alien that stood about nine feet tall entered. Its presence was so dull and emitted a cold energy that sent chills down Gypsy and Cyra’s spines even though they weren’t physically there.

It had four bulbous tips and three phalanges, which was an odd combination since all the other aliens had the same number of bulbs to phalanges. It appeared to be a Watcher with three eyes on the back of its bald head and two stacked on top of each other in the center of its face. A hole appeared out of nowhere in the place its mouth should have been and revealed five rows of spikes in place of teeth. As it held up the right bulbs, they turned into edges that resembled a power saw and started whirring like one.

“SHUT UP YOU IGNORANT LITTLE EARTHLING! YOU HAVE NO POWER HERE!” The alien had the most disturbing voice either of the girls had ever heard.

“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING TO DO?” Jeffrey shouted back has his attempts to get free were failing him.

  “YOU’LL SEE HA-HA-HA!”

The whirring began to get faster as the alien lowered its bulbs near where Lollie’s hairline met her forehead.

“NO NO NO! DO ME INSTEAD! LET HER GO! SHE DOESN’T HAVE AN OUNCE OF EVIL IN HER BODY! TAKE ME! PLEASE! SHE DOESN’T DESERVE ANY OF THIS! PLEASE TAKE ME INSTEAD!” Jeffrey cried out as the blades started to pierce Lollie’s skin.

The blood that started to splatter the deeper into Lollie the blades got quickly evaporated, preventing any mess that might occur. Jeffrey’s screams were droned out as the whirring of the blades got louder and the laughter of the alien persisted.

“OH YOU’RE NEXT,” the alien continued to laugh as the top portion of Lollie’s head floated next to her cot.

“NO PLEASE DON’T!” Jeffrey was hysterical but it was no use; the blades entered his skull faster than Lollie’s. His screams quickly stopped and his lifeless body laid on the cot next to Lollie’s while portions of both of their heads suspended in the air next to them.

It was too much to see what was going to happen next. Cyra had already yanked off Lamb’s bulbs from her temples before the Watcher cut into Lollie and was crying while Gypay screamed out as tears flooded down her cheeks, reaching her hands out in an attempt to save them. She kept replaying the Watcher ending their lives over and over in her head as she sat in silence, holding Cyra’s hand.

Neither of them were prepared for what played out. The raw emotions that followed started to cloud their judgment and they couldn’t think straight. How? What? Why? Three words that kept repeating in their heads over and over. Nothing would ever be the same. How can we trust them? I know they can hear us but I can’t speak right now, Gypsy thought, I can barely even think.

“I know it’s a little difficult to see, and we probably should have warned you, but you also need to understand that if we wanted to harm you in any way, we would have done so already,” Dewayne finally broke the silence.

“I really don’t know what you want us to say…” Gypsy said softly.

“Our intentions were never to cause you this much distress. We are not used to human emotion or how death and drastic changes can have such an effect…” Lamb added.

“What did they want with them? Why would they do such a horrible thing?” Gypsy asked.

“I wish I had an answer that would make sense…” Dewayne trailed off.

Cyra was still sitting in silence, processing the whole situation. She let Gypsy do all the talking and take control so they could at least make some headway in figuring out what the hell they were going to do.

“Then fucking try because this isn’t fair to us to be kept in the dark like this!”

“Okay, well if I have to put it in Layman’s terms, they want to see how the chemicals in their brains work and see if there’s any abnormalities that cause them to enjoy EDM and raving,” Dewayne replied.

“What? Why can’t they just do an MRI or CT scan? Why do they have to fucking kill them in order to see how their brains work?” Gypsy was extremely angry.

“That’s not how our Council runs things. The majority of the galaxy is rebelling and trying to make a change but it’s easier said than done. Most of us are on your side,” Dewayne said, keeping his composure.

“Then how are we going to get back to Earth and make sure the rest of the humans will be okay?” Gypsy questioned.

“It’s going to take a bit of time, but I think I have an idea of how we can make that happen.”

“Well, we don’t exactly have all the time in the world, so let’s try to think of something that’ll work a little bit faster,” Gypsy snapped.

“You have to understand this won’t happen overnight, we have a lot of work on our end,” Dewayne pointed to himself and Lamb, “and we have to start off slow so we don’t draw too much attention and look suspicious.”

Gypsy sighed, “yeah, sorry, I’m just really on edge right now. Do you know where Cole and Shai are?”

“We haven’t been able to locate them yet, which could be promising. The only reason we were able to show you your other friends was because they had already been taken to the testing area which is able to be publicly accessed through mental teleportation. Meaning, that there is still hope your other friends are still okay,” Lamb replied.

Cyra had a blank stare on her face as she appeared to be zoning in and out, still trying to compose herself and process the situation. However, in that moment something clicked and she snapped out of her delirium.

Looking at Gypsy, she finally spoke, “bitch, does this mean we have to save all of humanity, particularly the ravers?”

  Gypsy chuckled, “it appears so.”

  CHAPTER TEN

As the lights in the room changed colors, the four of them began to brainstorm. What felt like hours were passing and they still couldn’t figure anything out.

Why is this so hard? Gypsy thought to herself as she scratched another idea.

“So clearly this is proving to be way harder than any of us thought,” Cyra started to say, “what if we just combine smaller ideas or plans that we all have into one massive plan and work out the kinks from there?”

“You might be onto something,” Lamb replied.

“Okay yeah, but do we have any ideas?” Dewayne chimed in.

“I don’t even know where to start,” Gypsy sighed.

“Well, I feel like the main issue at hand is going to be disguising us,” Cyra pointed to herself and Gypsy.

“Right! There’s a start!” Dewayne exclaimed.

“Only a tiny problem, how are we going to make ourselves undetectable to those crazy motherfuckers?” Gypsy asked.

“Is there any way that we can turn ourselves into aliens temporarily?” Cyra asked Dewayne and Lamb.

“Um, I’d have to talk to one of our scientists and see what they say, but with how our advanced technology is, I wouldn’t completely rule it out yet,” Lamb replied thoughtfully.

“We need to start picking up the pace on this. I’m getting anxiety just sitting here and not taking action,” Gypsy said.

  “
How long would it take the scientists to come up with some sort of concoction for us?” Cyra asked.

“Hard to say but I can’t imagine it taking too terribly long,” Lamb replied.

“Well, what the fuck are we waiting for? Go!” Gypsy exclaimed.

“Do not answer this door for anyone, do you guys understand? We are the only ones that know the code to get in and therefore won’t need to ask for you to open it,” Dewayne stated sternly, “understand?”

“Yes, we understand,” Gypsy and Cyra said in unison.

“Now go so you guys can fucking get back already,” Gypsy added.

Lamb and Dewayne got up and headed for the door, opened it, and were gone, leaving Cyra and Gypsy to sit with their thoughts once more.

Time to process. Time to process. Time to…

Their thoughts got interrupted by a deafening alarm going off. Lights started flashing and panic set in.

Fuck what do we do? Cyra thought as she looked around at the craziness that had begun.

Try to stay calm. There’s no way this is about us, Gypsy thought back as she looked around too.

  “BOOPEM MEEBO LIDDIM RUTORUM!”

  WARNING LOCKDOWN WILL COMMENCE SOON!

“Still expect me to stay calm?” Cyra asked sarcastically but her eyes showed all the fear she was actually feeling.

“No; we need to find L and Dewayne right now,” Gypsy replied as she headed to the door and started looking around to see if the coast was clear.

Aliens were walking at a fast pace, almost running; some floating while others were using their legs. It was absolute chaos. The chances of them being able to leave without being noticed were slim to none.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” Gypsy muttered as she continued to look at the chaos.

“L and Dewayne have to be on their way back. That announcement was so loud it would’ve been impossible for them not to hear,” Cyra replied, trying to calm Gypsy down a bit and think positively.

“But what if they’re not? We have to figure out a way to fend for ourselves,” Gypsy snapped.

“Not with that kind of attitude,” Cyra snapped back, “maybe we should try sending a telepathic message?”

Dewayne! L! Where are you? Cyra thought as loud as she could to try to send the message out to them.

A sound like static rang in their ears as their vision started to blur.

  Comi— We’re comin— Tryin—chaos—there.

The girls couldn’t make out whether it was Lamb or Dewayne but one of them got their message. Trying to stay calm, they continued to wait. Dewayne and Lamb knew the girls wouldn’t be safe for much longer, but there was so much craziness with everyone running around trying to get to their designated lockdown stations that it was proving to be a difficult task getting back in a timely manner.

The door swung open, causing Gypsy and Cyra to jump, but in came Dewayne and Lamb. They were moving really fast and the girls immediately got up and started following their lead.

“We managed to get the pill that you girls will need to take to turn into aliens temporarily but we didn’t get a chance to ask how long it would last for, so you guys will be taking a chance and have to let us know immediately when you feel different like you’re about to change back. Understand?” Dewayne was talking at a million miles a minute but the girls nodded and put their hands out.

“Should they take it now or wait until we get to where we need to and set up an attack plan?” Lamb asked.

“That brings up the question of whether or not we should take the risk of them disappearing into us like they did before?” Dewayne asked back.

“Who’s to say it’ll even work?” Lamb rebutted.

“Dude, you’re not fucking helping,” Dewayne sounded irritated.

“Well, how far do we have to get?” Gypsy asked to try to cut the tension that was starting to form.

“We have to go to the other side of the station,” Dewayne answered under his breath.

“Okay, how long do you think that would take…in human time?” Cyra added.

“Probably ten minutes? Is that how you say it? Minutes? Like more than seconds but less than hours?” Lamb spoke up.

“Yeah that’s how you say it,” Gypsy let out a small laugh, “that’s not bad, if we hurry and with the chaos as cover we might be okay.”

“Okay, let’s go then because we’re running out of time and cover as we speak,” Dewayne said as he stood up.

Gypsy and Cyra got up as well and held themselves close to Lamb and Dewayne’s legs like before. They felt themselves become invisible and the door swung open once more, revealing the chaos that had still not subsided, despite the complete lockdown being initiated in less than twenty minutes human time.

Remember to turn off your telepathy and slip into a trance like before, Dewayne thought quickly as they started their trek across the station.

Frantically moving in unorganized paths running against each other, aliens were bumping into each other left and right. Expressions full of panic were written all over their faces while Lamb and Dewayne moved as fast as they could to maneuver their way through without making it too obvious they were hiding something. Sirens continued to wail as strobe lights flashed and distant screams pursued.

“Erebum dinubim borom!” A loud voice came over the speakers. This is your final warning!

Fuck we have to move faster, Dewayne thought to Lamb as they picked up the pace from a fast walk to now a floating run.

The clock was ticking and not in their favor. They had to move faster but all the passageways were crammed with frantic aliens trying to get to their lockdown stations before it was too late. Multiple colors that resembled a rainbow moved in a continuous sea until finally the last passageway emptied out and they were able to make a final sprint toward their station. The sirens got louder and some sort of countdown began to commence, warning everyone that it was now or never. Those not in their stations when the countdown came to an end would be terminated per the Council’s orders.

With a final push, testing their ability to move faster than time, they all made it with only seconds to spare. Breathing a sigh of relief, the girls detached themselves from Lamb and Dewayne’s legs. Time to actually come up with a game plan, Gypsy thought to herself as she looked around.

“What to do, what to do,” Cyra thought out loud.

Frustrated, Gypsy snapped, “bitch, if you don’t shut the fuck up until you have some sort of actual plan…”

“Hey, hey, hey, that was uncalled for,” Lamb said.

“Well, what the fuck are we supposed to do while everything is in lockdown? Sit here and twiddle our thumbs?” Gypsy was irritated.

“Yo, if you don’t calm down…” Lamb started to get heated.

“If you’re going to be this unpleasant, what makes you think we’ll want to help you?” Dewayne butted in.

“I’m sorry you guys, I’m just really frustrated. I feel like we should have come up with a plan by now,” Gypsy started to breakdown, “in every sci-fi movie I’ve ever seen, they’re always able to come up with a plan no problem.”

“Dude, this isn’t a movie though. This is actually happening and I understand exactly how you’re feeling. I’m scared too but us getting at each other’s throats isn’t going to help anything,” Cyra said in a calm tone.

“How long does this whole lockdown shit normally last?” Gypsy asked as she turned to Dewayne and Lamb.

“Hard to say. Sometimes it can be like a temporary test type of thing and other times it could last for days,” Lamb replied.

“Is there any way for us to tell how long this one is going to last?” Gypsy pressed.

“No, but I think I have an idea of how we can sneak out without alerting the Watchers or the Council,” Dewayne said.

“How?” Gypsy and Cyra asked in unison.

; “So, there’s Watchers that parole the designated areas every fifteen minutes or so, in that time, we could sneak out through this portal one by one and find our way out. I know you guys had mentioned wanting to find your other friends too, so we would have to be quicker than quick, but it would be doable. Just no room to fuck up. We have one shot and one shot only. There are emergency burner spaceships that we could send you back to Earth in…” he trailed off.

Lamb chimed in, “but that doesn’t stop the Council from continuing with this shit. We have to stop the Council if we really want to make it worth while.”

“How are we supposed to take out an entire Council that is gonna be protected to the max with all those Watcher motherfuckers?”

“Simple; we take out the Watchers before,” Lamb replied matter-of-factly.

“And how exactly are we supposed to do that?” Dewayne asked sarcastically.

“Well, I didn’t think that far but I’m sure we can come up with something.”

“Is there a way we could sneak back to the scientists and see if they can come up with an elixir or something that would make us all appear as Watchers?” Gypsy asked, starting to brainstorm.

“The only problem with that is getting there. They’re watched and protected the most during lockdowns,” Dewayne replied with a sigh.

“FUCK!” Gypsy shouted as she threw her arms up in frustration.

“What if we just made a break for it? How long would we have until they’d notice and come after us?” Cyra asked.

“At the most, we’d have those fifteen minutes, but it’s really risky. The only other possibility is them catching us right away and then we’d all be executed,” Lamb replied.

“Yo, okay, pause real quick!” Dewayne interrupted, “I think I have a plan as to how this could work but I just need you guys to follow my lead and trust me on this,” he turned to Cyra and Gypsy, “if all else fails, I need the two of you to remember one thing…”

The girls nodded, intrigued but also nervous as to what he was about to say next.
