What does a girl do when her new boyfriend disappears--the day after declaring their love?
Read on for an excerpt from In Love by Design...
A few of the things I’ve learned over the past two weeks were really bugging me, but overshadowing all of those concerns was how down I’ve felt since last Tuesday. The day came and went with no word from Luke. It wasn’t that he committed to those dates I’d suggested for getting away alone together. However, I haven’t heard one peep from Mr. Secretive since the morning after Thanksgiving, so I’d hoped he might surprise me.
‘Who am I kidding? I’ve been waiting for Our Turn like a cat in heat!’
So far, being in love sucked the big one.
‘It’s pretty damn hard to become a fabulous girlfriend when there’s no boyfriend around for weeks for me to practice on!’ I griped bitterly.
The mean mommy voiced smirked, ‘Yes, Anabel, and not even one phone call or text in all that time, either.’
The accountant voice stated, ‘Things are not adding up and that’s a fact not to be ignored.’
The detective voice sounded defensive. ‘Hey, the man’s got a tough job. There are no facts yet, so give the dude a break before getting your panties in a twist. Who knows what he’s doing?’
The sex kitten voice sniffed haughtily, ‘I know for a fact who he’s not doing!’
I had to agree with all the voices in my head. Who did know what or who Luke was really doing?
Not his new girlfriend, that’s for sure…
About Tracy Ellen
Throughout the years, I’ve had my share of nine to five jobs in the corporate cubicle business world, from worker bee to management. I’ve learned useful things along the way, but mainly I learned that burning up my personal time calling in sick should have been my first clue that I wasn’t cut out to work in the corporate world. Since the beginning of my memories, reading books has always been one of my top happy places. I’ve discovered recently that writing books is pretty marvelous, too. It’s fun to love my workplace.
I like connecting with readers and other indie writers. Comments, posts, reviews, tweets, and emails are always welcome and I try to respond to anyone writing to me. Follow my blog, Twitter, and Face Book to be aware of events and giveaways, or new books I’m publishing. Or post a comment and tell me about your new book. I read all sorts of different genres.
