These Streets Don't Love You Like I Do

“Baby, where are you?” he heard from downstairs as the front door slammed.

Not even bothering to answer her, he took his nine out of his top desk drawer and took the safety off before placing it in his lap. He heard her getting closer as her heels click-clacked against the hardwood floors.

“Fab, where are you?” she yelled as she walked past his office but did an about-face when she noticed him in there. “You didn’t hear me call…”

Ahnesty’s voice trailed off as she noticed the mess in his office. Something caught her eye and she bent down to pick it up. When she noticed it was a picture of her and Khan looking a little too cozy, her heart dropped into her stomach. She felt a chill go down her spine when she heard that all too familiar sound of a gun cocking.

She looked Fabion right in his eyes as she let the picture fall down to the ground. She fixed herself and stood with her spine straight, not showing an ounce of fear. Fabion could tell by the look in her eyes that she was ready for whatever. That’s a bad bitch, he thought as he put pressure on the trigger.

“What the fuck! Fab, what are you doing?” Faizon yelled as he walked in the office.

Faizon looked from Fabion to Ahnesty as neither one bothered to say anything. He looked at one of the many pictures that were on the ground and shook his head as he sighed. He looked back at Ahnesty and Fabion who were having an intense stare down.

“Fab, stop pointing that damn gun at her,” he said calmly.

  “Or what?” he challenged.

“Look, Fabion. I know you’re running high off of emotions right now, but think about this shit,” Faizon told his brother.

“Think about it?” he yelled. “This bitch—”

  POW!

Time froze as Fabion realized what he had just done. He was so frustrated that he forgot he had his finger on the trigger. It felt as if all the wind left his body when he looked up at Ahnesty and he saw the blood staining her white shirt.

“Oh, shit. What did I do?” he asked.

  Acknowledgements

First I would like to thank God for blessing me with the talent of being an author. Here I am on book number 14, none of this would have been possible without him.

To my mommy Sheree, who has been by my side since day one, you told me I could be anything I wanted to be if I put my mind to it. You have always been my backbone and I would not have made it this far without you. Also my Grammy, you've been there every step of the way and I can't thank you two enough.

S/O to my wonderful bosses Raymond and Envy for giving me a chance. Also David for putting people in a position to go after their dreams.

Much love to the whole #TBRS family.

I definitely can't thank all the loyal fans who have been riding with me since Official Girl. You guys have been my motivation to keep going and busting my pen. All the inboxes, comments, and wall post have never gone unnoticed and I appreciate them and you more than you will ever know.

I definitely have to give a big shout out to my first friend I made in the writing game, Treasure. You welcomed me with open arms since the beginning and we've been tight ever since. I appreciate all the help, feedback and even the yelling because it helped me out a lot. No matter how many times I wanted to give up, you pushed me harder. I love you lots!

I would like to give another special shout out to some of my readers:

  Anjela, Tenita, Erinn, and Julisa

Last but never least, my Angels in heaven, Cora (Mom), Romney (Riggz) and Marisa, Uncle Tyrone (Big Shep), and Dad. I pray that you continue to watch over me. I can't forget my cousin Tyrein, keep your head up baby, 2034 will be here before you know it.
