“Yes.” I breathe in a healing breath of salty air. “Sy saved me.”
“He saved me too.” Arching an eyebrow, he adds, “It looks like feelings, or instincts, can be right about someone. I’m sorry I doubted you.”
“You were just doing your job. You have to be ready to doubt anything.”
He smiles a full smile.
How I’ve missed that. It melts my heart for the second time I’ve ever seen it. He is so handsome. His piercing green hazel eyes. That thick hair and oh-so-cut jawline of his that’s sporting little flecks of stubble right now.
“There’s one thing I don’t ever want to doubt, though,” he says.
“What I’m about to do to you.” Julian slowly leans in, giving me the chance to protest, but I never would.
I meet his lips like I’ve hungered for them my whole life. They feel soft, but firm. They move completely in sync with mine. Butterflies take flight in my stomach, and for a moment I fear I might slip to the ground in weakness. His strong hands hold me up at the waist, promising to never let go.
Now, this… this is exactly how this night should end. We stay there kissing some more. All the while, the big magical harvest moon looks down on us in approval.
Suddenly, though, it feels like Julian is getting a little more frisky. He accidentally bites my lip, drawing blood.
“Oh, that kiss hurt,” I say, touching the spot.
“I’m sorry,” he breathes, his eyes intense. “You taste so good.”
It’s then that I see, glimmering in the moonlight, Julian’s teeth have turned to razor-sharp chompers, and, unknowingly, he’s giving me a toothy grin.
The End.
