If Only for Another Night Page 16

by Jaylin Rogers

I shook my head and dropped my jaw in disbelief. “Have you lost your mind? I wasn’t the one who bleached your suits. Nokea did, when she found out you went out of town with Felicia. Remember?”

He snapped his finger and nodded. “That’s right. I remember now, but nothing happened between us. Nokea thought we got our freak on, but when she found out the truth, she had to apologize for ruining my suits.”

“Yeah, well, what can I say? You have had your share of angry women, trying to get back at you for the hurt you caused. I know exactly how Nokea felt, and if you don’t mind me saying, I think the two of you should reconcile one day. Just give it some thought. The only reason I say that is because you’re so much happier when the two of you are together, and she is one woman that you will never be able to leave in the past. You’re wasting your time seeking comfort elsewhere, and as your dear friend, I’m only telling you the truth.”

I waited for Jaylin to respond, but he didn’t touch my comment. “Other than that,” I said. “I’d have to say that Felicia was the most psychotic, then Scorpio. More than anything, I think she was the one who put you in check.”

“Bullshit. In check my ass.” Jaylin touched his limp dick. “See how quick my dick deflated after that comment? That’s because it doesn’t appreciate being in the presence of women who don’t know what they’re talking about. Nobody—let me repeat—nobody will ever put me in check.”

I shrugged. “Maybe not, but you have your opinion and I have mine.”

“You’re right. Your opinion doesn’t matter, mine does. With that, get away from my dick and come up here. Give me some time to mull over your friendly advice, but tell me how or why you think this friendship feels so good.”

I sat next to him and laid my head on his shoulder. Like always, I expected him to ignore my advice and change the subject back to me and him.

“I would be happy to tell you why, but since my opinion doesn’t matter, I’ll keep my mouth, as well as my legs, shut.”

“For how long is the question.”

We laughed, talked and enjoyed each other’s company until the wee hours of the morning. And when I woke up at 8:20 AM, I lay next to him, watching him sleep and thinking about how interesting he was. I wanted people to get to know Jaylin, and while there was a lot of naughtiness about him, there was also an equal amount of good. Having so much more to write, I eased out of bed, trying not to wake him. I put on my robe and went into the study with my notebook. My words flowed on the paper like magic, and it came so easy for me when I wrote about numerous characters that all came from my own personal experiences. That, without a doubt, was what made my books so damn interesting, as well as addictive.

  THE END
