by Isaac Hooke
He followed that thread, his last connection to the planet he had escaped, and the stars streaked past.
And then he was back in the clearing.
The artifact crumbled behind him, leaving only the carbon fiber cord that once attached him to it. The Dark Essence ripped away from him and he collapsed. The sword hilt rolled from his loose grip.
The memory of how he had traversed the black threads was gone, fleeting. As was the memory of how he had sent his Sight traveling through space. But most of the other memories remained. He still had the Dark and White mixing skill, level two in Essence Missile, and Dark Siphoning.
Sinive rushed to his side. “Are you all right?”
She knelt, scooping his upper body into her arm assemblies.
Tane nodded wearily.
Lyra stood behind Sinive. Sword and pistol drawn, Jed was at her back, keeping a wary eye on the metal buildings around them.
“Tane, you just vanished,” Sinive said. “And the dwellers, too. What happened?”
Tane merely looked at her, at a loss for words, too exhausted to speak.
When he didn’t answer, Lyra stepped forward.
“The Bender of Worlds has awakened,” the Volur said.
Thank you very, very much for reading.
I hope you enjoyed Star Warrior.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
I’d like to thank Shookooboo (Thien) for creating the fantastic cover art. I told him I wanted a homage to the original Star Wars movie poster, and this is what he came up with.
This is my first real foray into the LitRPG genre. As such, I’d like to thank the LitRPG community for their great support: the authors who selflessly promote one another, and the readers for buying and leaving reviews!
And of course I’d be remiss if I didn't thank my mother, father, and brothers, whose wisdom and insights have always guided me through the dark paths of the Umbra.
