“Ms. Starr, there has been some reports that Mr. Reed has a tattoo of you on his chest. It is said that this tattoo is very suggestive. Have you seen this tattoo and care to comment on it?”
I turn to Jim standing over my shoulder and he whispers in my ear. “I won’t comment on that right now.” I repeat back to the reporter. I knew exactly what tattoo he was talking about and there was no way I was going to comment on it. Then point to another reporter.
“As we all saw a little over three months ago you were involved in a domestic violence case. Does that have anything to do with Mr. Reed and if not can you elaborate on it?”
“That case has nothing to do with Mr. Reed. I was in a very emotionally abusive relationship for almost fourteen years. It turned violent one night. The relationship ended that night. We left on agreeable terms.”
“Ms. Starr, when did you learn that it was Mr. Reed that kidnapped you? How did you finally escape?” Someone in what sounded the second row asked before I could point to anyone.
I knew I didn’t have to answer but I was going to anyways. “From what I can piece together, Mr. Reed took me on a Friday night and drugged me with some type of sedative. From the time line I’ve pieced together I woke up Saturday morning when the drugs wore off. It was three days before he forgot to lock the door to the room he had me in, one day. When I opened the door I noticed a man sitting on a chair. I couldn’t tell who the man was at first, as the chair he was sitting in blocked most of his body except the top part of the back of his head. It wasn’t until he reached for a beer on the floor and I saw the Devil tattoo on his arm—”
“So the papers were correct in dubbing him ‘The Devil’ when he made you cry on the street?” someone yelled and a few of the reporters laughed.
“Yes, funny enough it is true. So once I knew it was Mr. Reed, I knew what his game was. The day out on the street he had come to tell me he still loved me and wanted me back. That is why he took me. He still believed he loved me. Once I figured this out I knew I had to play into his game and make him think I loved him still. Once I did and he trusted me, it back fired on him and I was able to escape.”
I answer question after question the best I can. Every now and then I would turn to Decker or Jim for some reassurance and help. They were all too willing to help. I can see the team gathering to watch off to the side. Glancing every now and then at them, they were smiling and giving thumbs up. It’s a great feeling to know that there are fifty or sixty people here who have my back and would protect me.
“This is the last question,” Jim said as he pointed to a man standing off to the side.
Fighting the urge to run out of the room in full blown panic mode I press the palm of my hand into my chest and my fingers rub over my necklace. Decker grabs my hand and squeezes then mouths ‘just one more’.
“Ms. Starr, I just received a text from a colleague who said that Mr. Reed sent a statement to a newspaper. In that statement he claimed that after you were with him for some time you begged him to have sex with you. And I quote these are his words not mine so please excuse my language ‘she begged me ‘please, Kevin, please move faster. Please move harder. I need to cum’ and I did as she asked, she screamed my name through multiple orgasms and then told me she loved me.’ Can you explain?”
Tears welled up in my eyes and that all too familiar pain in my chest was now burning like a five-alarm fire. I didn’t even have time to think of a response before Roman came out of nowhere and pulled me out of the room while Decker and Jim yelled at the reporter.
I sat in the locker room crying as my words to Kevin were thrown back in my face. Almost the whole team tried to console me. When the door opened suddenly half the room lunged toward the door about to pounce on anyone who entered. They all backed down when they saw it was Decker.
I swear I could see smoke coming out of his ears he was so mad. “I can’t believe the nerve of that little prick.”
“Decker, calm down. This is what he wants. He wants to make it look like she’s lying about everything so he can get off on the rape charges,” Tyler said.
“I think you should go home,” Decker said looking at me.
“No!” I shot to my feet not wanting to leave and give into anyone who thinks I’m weak. “That will just prove that I have something to hide. It will show that I’m weak and can’t stand up for myself. It will show that maybe he is telling the truth. If I want to prove what he did to me was true, I need to stand up and be strong.”
“But the cameras will be all over you,” he protested.
“It’s the Yankee’s network filming the game right?” I asked Decker.
“Yeah so?” He seemed confused like he didn’t know what I was getting at.
“Ask Matthew to order them not to film me. It’s his network. He can do it.”
“It’s not a bad idea,” Tobias added. “At least you can look up and know she’s safe. Plus your parents will be there. You think they would let anything happen to her.”
“Decker, I can’t not be here. I won’t not be here. Hell, I need to be here. You’re here. I need to cheer you on. I need to show you support. Your parents are gonna be there. Maggie’s gonna be there. I’ll be fine. Ask Matthew to order it. Please don’t send me back to the apartment. I don’t wanna go. I wanna be here.”
Decker paced the room back and forth for a few minutes. He looked at me then turned and walked out through a pair of wooden doors. I looked at Tobias and Tyler who were standing in front of me. They shrugged.
I sat back down staring into Decker’s locker. His uniform hanging perfectly pressed and clean. I have never seen a uniform up close. I’m mesmerized by it. I didn’t even notice when Tobias and Tyler walked away. I didn’t even notice the team getting undressed around me. I just sat there staring at this uniform.
I ponder how my life used to be so simple and quiet. So plain like this uniform. How even though there was not much to my life it was beautiful at one point. Now like this uniform everyone is intrigued by my life. Like this uniform everyone wants a piece of my life.
Am I strong enough to continue down this road? Is there enough there to hold me up? Or is my past going to come creeping up and slaughter me down. Maybe Decker is right, maybe I should go back to the apartment. Maybe I should just hide. Maybe I should just leave and no longer be Jensen’s Angel.
Standing I notice Tobias in full uniform standing about two feet from my right. I look at him with tears in my eyes. “I can’t do this. I can’t be in your world. I’m not strong enough,” I cry as tears were about to leak from my eyes.
Just as he was going to answer me Decker walked back in. He was followed by the largest man I’ve ever seen. He has skin the color of dark chocolate. He must be at least seven foot, two and weigh three hundred and fifty pounds of pure muscle. He easily blocks Decker when he stands in front of him. “Sarah, this is Kirby. If you’re staying you go nowhere without this man. Nowhere! You need to pee, he follows you. You want to go get a drink outside the room, he follows you. You listen to all his rules. Matthew has ordered our cameras to stay off of you, but he cannot control the press down in the press box. There will be pictures taken. When the games over Kirby will walk you right back here. You are not to come here without him. Understood?”
“Yes, that is fine,” I said looking at Kirby.
“Good, now go so I can get changed and start my warm ups.” I turn to leave and Decker continues, “Oh and, baby.” I turn back to look at him. “Have a good time.”
Walking back over to Decker I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him, ignoring all the cat calls and whooping from the team behind us. I whisper, “As long as I am here. I will have fun. As long as I have you, life will always be fun.” I kiss him again. “Have a good game, kick some Boston ass and know that I love you.” I kiss him again and leave with Kirby.
As the door closes I can hear the team busting on him. Someone yells ‘when’s the wedding’ and I could have heard wrong but I could swear I hea
rd Decker respond as soon as she says yes. No, he didn’t say that. We’re nowhere close to even think about marriage. Sure we’ve known each other for what six or seven months now, but it’s only been two months of us seeing each other. And most of that time he wasn’t even around.
Eyeing him out of the corner of my eye, Kirby smiles. “You wanna know about my name don’t cha?” He chuckles.
“I’m sorry, but I’ve met a few Kirby’s. They were skinny little white kids who played video games or were complete science nerds. You seem to be neither.”
“I may not have been a little white kid, but I was a skinny little nerd growing up. Mom said from the day I was born she knew it. So she had to give me a nerd name.”
“But you’re not now.” I pointedly looked at his bulging arms.
“I may not look the part now. I may not work a typical nerd job. But I am totally nerd. I’m doing this job to get me through college.”
“What are you studying?”
“Biomedical Science. I want to help find a cure for cancer. A permanent cure. I watched my mother die from cancer. Nothing helped her.”
“I know how you feel. My brother was thirty-two when he was diagnosed with a very rare cancer. It ate him from the inside out for a year. Nothing they did shrank the cancer. He was in so much pain that not even the pain meds they had him on helped. Holding his hand the day he died almost killed me.”

Shoving a hand full of stadium fries in my mouth I jump to my feet and cheer. Decker just hit a home run driving in three more runs. We were killing Boston. It’s only the bottom of the fifth inning and we were outscoring them left and right. 10-2 right now. If this is any sign of the way the season is going to go then it’s going to be a good one.
Josie is tired as all hell, but she is having the time of her life. It’s her first Yankee game, how can I rip her away from that and send her home to sleep. Besides from the look of it she’s about to fall asleep in Decker’s Dad’s arms. She’s such a loving girl. Takes to anybody who shows her interest. How could she not feel loved? She now has so many people doting on her.
“Baby girl, are you having fun?” I ask her.
“Mama, this is the best ever. I’ve never eaten so many French fries and hot dogs. This place is wonderful. Look, Mama, Decker’s running. Yay, Decker!” Her little face lit up so bright as she screamed and clapped.
I couldn’t help but laugh. My little girl is becoming a baseball nut just like I am. I turn and watch Decker finish running the bases. He looks up at me as I stand and cheer. He blows me a kiss and I just laugh. Looking back a Josie she’s sound asleep in Decker’s Dad’s arms.
“Didn’t take her long to pass out, now did it?” He chuckles.
“No, it usually doesn’t. Wish I could do it. Do you want me to take her? I can go put her on the couch.”
“No, let her stay. It’s been a long time since I held a little one. I hope to have grandbabies soon,” he teases.
“Oh, Jonathan. Don’t pester the girl. I’m sure they’re nowhere close to being married or having babies. You know our son.” Nancy, Decker’s mom swats at his arm.
What is with everyone and talking about us being married or having babies?
Yankees win the season/home opener 14-3, perfect beginning to a hopefully perfect season. I say good-bye to Decker’s parents. Kirby picks up Josie, she looks so tiny in his massive arms, and we make our way back to the locker room.
Maggie is practically dancing with glee hoping to get in there and see all the naked guys. Especially Tobias, she is crushing hard.
To Maggie’s displeasure we have to wait outside the locker room. Sitting in some chairs we wait patiently. The Boston team starts trickling out of their locker room. As they all pass they all smile and say hi.
John Hankles, Boston’s left fielder, was about the sixth guy to walk by but he stopped bent down and whisper, “You let us know if that punk ass fucks with you anymore. It’s not just the Yankees he has to deal with; you have the whole MLB network backing you up.”
He stood and started down the hallway. I looked at Maggie and she was smiling from ear to ear. She heard what he said. “Wait,” I yelled as I got up and ran down the hallway toward him. Throwing my arms around his neck I give him a hug and ask, “Why? Why do you all care?”
Some of his other team mates have gathered around now. He took my hand and said, “As much as we hate each other on the field and sometimes off the field, this is a brotherhood. We take care of what we need to. We protect and look out for one another. Cross one and you will face all.”
“See, baby, told you, you would be protected,” Decker said as he pulled me to his side.
I think the move was a mix between a show down with John Hankles telling him ‘this is my woman don’t touch’ and actually needing me by his side.
“I never knew this side of you guys. I always just assumed everyone hated each other.” I laughed.
“Come, let’s go home. These guys need to rest so they can try and beat us tomorrow but will only loose again. And you know why that is? Because not only do they suck,” speaking with a laugh. “But because we now have an angel protecting us,” he says as he taps my back where my wings are.
“Nice tat on your back by the way,” John said. “Got any more?”
I showed them both my legs and told them about Ely’s name on my heart. They were all captivated by my leg that looked like it was carved. I laughed at it. Everyone gave me hugs and invitations to barbeques and dinner when the team travels to Boston. I couldn’t have asked for anything better then the feeling I have now.

“I can’t believe I’ve got the whole baseball network backing me. I can’t believe I actually talked to Boston players. I can’t believe how nice everyone is,” I exclaim as I brush my teeth.
I was captivated by the fact that all these famous guys were willing to stand up just for me. Before Decker I barely had anyone in my corner. Mom always found away to blame me for my problems with Shawn. Dad rather just stayed out of it. Chrissy was living twelve hours away, Liz, my other best friend, lives almost twenty hours away and I really didn’t have anyone else. Now, now I have so many people in my corner I don’t know who to turn to first or second or even last.
“Sarah, they’re regular people just like you and me.” Decker laughs.
“No, I’m a regular person. You, you are a god that I am blessed to have in my life. And all those other guys that I never thought I would ever think of meeting, they are just as god like as you are. I should never have had you guys in my life. But here you guys all are and you’re all so willing to lift me up and protect me.”
“I am a god! Now come to bed so I can show you how much of a god I am.” He bends and starts licking the swells of my breasts. Digging his fingers into my skin. Raising my body temperature with every kiss, lick and touch.
Lifting me up and placing me on the counter in between the two sinks. He was peeling my pants down with one hand while his other hand was roaming through the soft hair between my legs drawing out the sweet honey that was starting to drip down my legs.
Slipping his shorts off and kicking them to the side, he steps between my legs and pulls my hair back so he can lick and suck at my neck. Every move he makes is meant to give me pleasure. Decker never asks for anything. Always giving, always making sure I get mine.
While he licks at my neck, I reach in between us and grasp his hard cock. Feeling the pre-cum starting to leak I take my thumb and circle it around his head spreading it. Slowly I slide my hand up and down his cock. Pumping him. His hips buck into my hand. A guttural groan escapes his throat. Milking him with my hand over and over, Decker’s head falls back. With a little push I slide off the sink and kneel in front of him.
Licking the tip of his cock he grips the back of my hair. Opening my mouth I take him in. He pulls my hair tighter. He doesn’t move or try to move me. Slowly I pull him deeper into my mouth. Running my tongue along the throbbing veins I
open my throat and take him deeper. Sucking and pushing and pulling. Over and over. Bringing him to the brink of the edge of pure ecstasy.
“Baby, if you don’t stop I’m gonna cum.” He grunted.
Sucking deeper and harder I can feel the veins start to spasm. Hot liquid spurts into the back of my throat. I suck taking in every little drop he has to offer. When the hot liquid stops flowing I suck him in deep one last time. Looking up I lick my lips.
Decker growls, hooks his hands under my arms and lifts me back onto the sink. Sinking two fingers into my wet pussy he drops to his knees. His tongue darts out of his mouth and straight to my clit. Between his fingers and his tongue he pushes me higher and higher. My fingers scrape across his scalp and neck.
I explode with an orgasm so strong I lifted myself right off the sink screaming Decker’s name. Slowing his pace he brings me back down. Then starts again, licking, sucking, and pumping his fingers into me, sending me over the edge for a second time.
Before coming down Decker lifted me onto him and walked over to the wall. Wrapping my legs around his waist Decker slams into me over and over again. “Oh God…Decker,” I scream. Pumping into me I grind down onto him.
“Baby, cum with me,” he growls into my ear. It sends me over the edge and I explode around him. Both of us sank to the ground panting to catch our breath.
Chapter 15
I hate this trial already. It started two days ago and Decker is on the other side of the country playing against Oakland. Not only is he away, but he’s so far away. The games run so late some nights I can barely keep my eyes open to talk to him after. I’m miserable. Kevin is doing everything possible during the trial to rile me up.
He stares at me. Blows kisses at me. Writes notes he throws across the room toward me. Mouths words at me. Doesn’t matter how many times the judge puts him in contempt he just keeps going.
