by Patricia Falvey

In addition, I would like to acknowledge my Aunt Nan, who lived in the cottage across the road from the ‘Big House’ and where I spent many childhood summers, and her daughters, Beatrice, Nancy and Rosie, all of whom worked at the ‘Big House’ at one time or another. Their stories were the main inspiration for this book.

And, as always, I would like to acknowledge the love and support of my dear sister, Connie Mathers, of Meigh, County Armagh, who keeps the spirit of Ireland alive and well in me.

Lastly, in this 100th Anniversary year of the 1916 Easter Uprising, I would like to humbly acknowledge the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who fought for Irish Freedom.
