She did not look well.
"We are almost there," Rex assured her.
"No worries." Lena's rather high-pitched voice lacked the conviction. "This is the worst case of turbulence I've ever experienced."
Rex continued the descent, the engines straining against the wind. Finally, the shuttle touched the ground. The craft thumped as it landed, lurching Lena from her seat.
He grabbed her arm.
"I'm okay," she said, breathless. He disagreed. The pallor of her skin indicated she was the opposite, but he didn't argue. Once she was steady on her feet, he released her arm.
He moved over the control panel, shutting down the engines and the electronics. The hum of the engines faded until only the sound of the storm raging outside disrupted the sudden silence.
"Why did you turn everything off?"
"The Skarn may scan for technological devices active on the planet. As far as I can tell, there is no intelligent life here. The shuttle's engine signature would be recognized."
"Ah," Lena said, nodding. She leaned toward the window to survey the planet. Snow and fragments of ice swirled around them, hitting the window with a thin layer that gradually grew. "It looks like its freezing out there."
"The heat within the shuttle should provide enough warmth for now."
"How long?"
Rex shrugged. "A few arins. Long enough that with luck the Skarn will have bypassed this planet to seek us elsewhere."
Lena's gaze fell to the control panel. "Is there any way to communicate with my father? To contact Earth?"
"I sent a distress signal."
She nodded, but he noticed her biting her bottom lip with worry. The urge to offer comfort propelled him forward. He rested his hand on her back. Her head jerked, her gaze startled by his nearness.
"We will wait. If all goes well and the Skarn pass us, we will send another signal to your people. I will take you home."
The corners of Lena's mouth curved upward. Her gaze fell to his lips. He recalled the kiss they'd shared, and heat flared within him.
"Thank you, Rex. You saved my life."
"Not so." He shook his head. "You have saved mine."
And then his head dipped low to capture her lips with his. He feared she'd turn from him, that he hoped too greatly she felt the connection between them. The palms of her hands touched his chest. Instead of pushing away, her fingers slid up to his neck. She was such a slight female, he had to crouch low to allow her to wrap her arms around his neck. Her mouth opened, granting him access to deepen the kiss.
His hearts thrummed wildly, the rush of excitement burned in his veins. She'd given him freedom. After all this time, long after he'd given up all hope of escape, this little human provided when he, a fierce Rhan warrior, could not.
He slid his hands along her shoulders, the silk of her hair brushing against his knuckles.
"I've never kissed an alien before," Lena said, pulling back to whisper against his lips.
"Do you like it?"
She nodded, her forehead brushing against his.
This time, before he initiated the next kiss, he lifted her off her feet. She sucked in a surprised gasp as her arms clung to his neck. He took two steps to press her against the flat shuttle wall, bringing her legs up to hook around his waist. She smiled against his lips as he kissed her.
Heat coursed through his body. Desire for this female, this human, overtook all other thought. It had been so long since he'd felt the tender touch of another on his skin. Holding her in his arms, feeling the press of her soft body against his hardness was the most exquisite of sensations. He wanted to take her. The passion he felt for her was all-consuming. But she was human. He'd never heard of a Rhan and human mating. He wasn't sure if it was possible. She was similar, and yet unlike other Rhan females.
With his body holding her against the wall, his right hand slid down her torso to her hips. She still wore his jacket, which he took pleasure in witnessing. His jacket engulfed her. But it felt almost like an unspoken declaration that she was his.
He slipped his hand beneath the jacket so he could touch her. The thin fabric of her dress did nothing to protect her from the cold. It's no wonder her teeth had been chattering in that cell. She'd been freezing. He was thankful the Skarn allowed him to keep his garments after all this time.
With her legs wrapped around his waist, the short dress had gathered between them. There was another layer of fabric beneath, covering her moya. This fabric was silky, different from her dress. He slipped his large fingers within the silk so he could touch her fur-covered moya. The fur was different. The moya of Rhan women were smooth-skinned.
Lena's breathing grew heavier, faster while he continued kissing and exploring her body. He discovered her wetness and slipped a finger within her silky folds. His hearts thumped with elation as he realized she was equipped to take his hardness within her. Her body clenched around his finger and he added another, thrusting inside her.
She whimpered with pleasure, her fingers digging into his back as she clutched tighter.
"Rex..." She whispered, breaking the kiss to trail her lips across his cheek to his ear. "Are Rhan men... Can they... Can we..."
Her words were a jumble, but he sensed what she was attempting to ascertain. He answered by releasing his reetho from the confines of his trousers. His member was stiff and eager to fill her softness. He had to tear away the silk fabric barrier from beneath her dress to gain access to her. She moaned when his hardness replaced his fingers.
He entered her slowly the first time, stretching her to fit his length. She gasped as his body filled her, throbbing with need. He wanted to take her fast. He craved to thrust his hips against her again and again, but he took his time, sensing she'd need a moment to accommodate his size.
"Ohmigod!" She breathed against his ear, her fingers trailing into his hair.
He took this as a sound of pleasure. Once he was fully sheathed within her, he closed his eyes, reveling in her tightness. He paused, trying to control himself. He wanted to bring her fully to orgasm before he allowed it for himself. His reetho throbbed, wanting more, but he moved slowly, backing out of her and then gently pushing in.
Again and again, he tenderly made love to her until her hips were squirming and she was whispering his name. He sped his pace, matching the thrust of her hips with his own. And when he couldn't hold back any longer, he pressed her fully against the wall, forcing her hips still with his hands as he held her. He let his body control their movements as he thrust into her softness, again and again.
Lena whimpered, small sounds of ecstasy in between kissing and her lips trailing a path of wetness across his cheek and his ear. At the moment her body began to quake, tremors overtaking her, she cried out loudly.
"Ohmigod! Rex!"
Her body spasmed around his, her muscles clenching so tightly he gasped as his own fiery release pulsed. He closed his eyes, groaning in pleasure and male pride as he joined her in the ecstasy of their combined bodies.
It was unlike anything he'd ever experienced. These physical sensations only amplified what he felt in his hearts for this human. He never wanted to be apart from her.
As the trembling lessened, he lifted her from the wall. Holding her limp body against him, he turned. He leaned his back against the wall and slid to the floor before the muscles of his legs collapsed. She settled onto his lap, sliding her legs to sit across him, then tucked her head against his shoulder. He cradled her, leaning his chin atop her head.
"That was..." Lena's voice was thready. Exhausted, but satisfied. "Marvelous. I don't know. I don't have words to describe what that was."
"Passionate."
"Yes, it certainly was that." Lena's soft breath heated his chest as she pressed her cheek to his skin. "I want to do it again."
Rex grinned, clasping his arm around her. "We have nothing more to do but spend the next few arins exploring our bodies. What arouses them and what pleases them. I would be happy to teach you abo
ut mine. And then I will take you home, Lena."
“Home…” She repeated the word with a hint of question.
He held his breath, waiting for her to voice her words.
“Will you come home with me, Rex? You said no one on your world would know you anymore. You’re welcome to stay with me.”
He smiled. “I would like nothing more than to stay with you, human.”
"This is... Is it...”? Again, Lena seemed to have trouble forming words. She bit her lip, a sign he was beginning to associate with worry.
He frowned. "Is something wrong, Lena?"
"Rex," Lena said, spreading her hand against his chest, her fingers exploring the ridged muscles of his abdomen. "When you bite someone, when you feed, I mean, do they feel euphoria akin to sexual desire? Is that a normal response when you feed?"
He shook his head. "I have not heard of this reaction. It is supposed to be a pleasurable experience, but not sexual in nature."
"Okay, I wasn't sure... I was afraid this might be just a reaction. You know, something you do after you feed from someone."
"No, Lena," he said, running his hand along the soft pale skin of her arm. "I've never felt aroused after feeding. What I feel for you is unique. I have never experienced such sensations. My hearts beat for you, my body craves you even now, and my blood burns for you. My joining with other females has never resulted in such powerful emotions. Is this so with humans?"
She shook her head, lifting her chin to gaze into his eyes. "I don't think it's common, Rex. Not like this, not what I feel for you. I've never felt like this with anyone else."
He smiled. "Then I am grateful. Not only have you freed me from my prison, but you've also given me your hearts."
"Humans only have one heart, Rex. But the one I have is all yours."

About Claimed by the Beast
Finally go on my first online date? Check
Get kidnapped by a massive alien hunk mid-date? Sorry, not on my list
After a date night gone wrong, Ella Harlow wakes up on a spaceship thousands of miles from Earth – and there’s a hot alien waiting on her bed. Ro is everything she could dream of in a man: attentive, aroused, and with a body to die for. This entire kidnapping thing might just be a dream come true.
But there’s one problem – he doesn’t plan to keep her.
Chapter 1
The Lagoon
Chicago, IL.
Earth
Ella
I’m drunk as we exit the club.
Ro grabs my arm to steady me and I lean into his hold, laughter bubbling up my throat. He may be a stranger but good god, I could stay in his arms forever.
Maybe online dating sites are the best cure for loneliness.
I curl my hands around his arm, pulling him closer, and he smiles down at me. “Better?” He gently presses my head against his shoulder and I snuggle in, still hardly able to believe I’m not dreaming.
“Better. Who knew it was such a luxury to breathe?”
“The 2.7 million people we left back in the club?”
I snort a laugh and pull myself up onto the stairway ledge beside me, facing the club alley. Ro settles in beside me, his muscled chest a comforting pressure against my body. Just the feel of him against me leaves me tingly, hungry, and on the verge of inviting him into my bed already.
With a body like that, there’s no way he’d be a disappointment. Unlike my last five boyfriends.
God knows I qualify for a good night after the shit I’ve lived through.
A series of enticing images tease my mind -- Ro slowly stripping, Ro pressing me down in bed, running my hands down Ro’s chiseled chest as I ride him for all I’m worth. I clench my legs together in a frantic effort to keep the arousal at bay. Can you fucking cool it, Ella?
Maybe.
Maybe not.
Depends on how far Ro is willing to let this go.
“Mind if I smoke?” Ro draws what looks like a vape pen from his pocket and I shake my head, fighting hard to drag my gaze back up to shoulder level instead of devouring his body. Ro puffs in silence, a cinnamon cloud of scents soon pooling around his head. The smell is heavy and odd in a way I can’t quite pinpoint, but I’m too drunk to care. The world is beautiful, Ro is total eye candy, and I’m ready for wherever this night takes me.
Like, now already.
“Where I come from,” he says, “we call this the Glistening.” He nods to the stars overhead, but I’m too busy noticing the way his arm brushes mine, and how his muscles flex with every move of his perfection of a body.
Yummy.
“And where exactly are you from? Austin?” I throw out the first city name that comes to mind. He laughs like it’s the most ridiculous thing he’s ever heard.
“Not anywhere you’ve heard of, love.” He draws in a puff of smoke. Again, that strangely sweet scent I can’t place.
“I’m not that backwoods.” I wink. “Try me.”
He scans me, his gaze oddly blank, before looking back to the sky. “This isn’t about getting to know our past, love. It’s more about playing with our future.”
I lean forward then, and Ro shifts to meet me halfway, our bodies touching like a bolt of electricity. Ro’s hands shift, sliding down my body, caressing my curves as he pulls me closer. I lift my lips to his and he hesitates for only an instant before pressing his mouth to mine. The tip of his tongue teases my bottom lip until I’m panting and breathless.
“Where have you been all my life?” He breathes the words against my neck and I shiver against his touch. I tilt my head back, welcoming his touch as his hands move up my back and over my shoulders. One finger brushes the base of my neck.
“Ro?”
“Shh, love.” His hands lock into place
. There’s a faint sting of pain, a slight puncture as cold as ice and twice as sharp. Heart racing, I try to turn my head to look back at him.
Only to find my muscles are frozen.
I can do nothing but stare straight ahead, my heartbeat panicked and out of control. Ro. I scream his name silently, my entire body trembling as he withdraws a syringe from my neck. My scenes beg for me to run, but it’s already too late. I can’t even move.
“Sorry it had to happen like this, Human,” Ro whispers.
That’s when the world disappears into darkness.
Chapter 2
I open my eyes in a mist of stars. Lights blink at the edge of my vision, a persistent blur blocking my attempts to see past the foot of my bed. The entire room is metal, gadgets and sensors blinking from every corner. To my left, on a nearly-invisible desk, my own face stares back at me from a monitor.
What in hell?
I pull myself up to a sitting position, hands straining against what feels like an invisible curtain around me.
I push harder.
Heart beating faster.
But the current that seals me in doesn’t budge.
On the other side of the room, eyes blink from the dimness, watching me, and I have nowhere to hide. I’m closed in like a butterfly in a glass, on display for ---what? some inhuman creature? A beast with evil intent?
You know this is a dream, Ella. I had too much to drink, probably went a little crazy after that whole dating app thing.
There’s no way this is anything but a dream.
I push out against the current again, and this time it pushes back. It slams me back against the bed, electricity sizzling through me, and all my attempts to scream die away in my throat. The pain that pounds through me is all too, too real.
