“Wha…are you? It’s only been a month!” Jenny could barely get a sentence out.
“Yes, ma’am. I know and I don’t care. I can’t wait another day.”
“Are you making fun of my accent?” She tried to be stern with the giddy man, who was getting down on one knee.
“No, ma’am, I’d never.” He put a drawl on his words while grinning. “So, Miss Jenny Von Zuzle, will you marry me? Will you become my Mrs. Englewoodie?”
Jenny’s face betrayed her. Happiness made the fit of giggles uncontrollable.
“Don’t you worry, young lady,” Nola said. “I’ve had trouble with my married name for decades and decades. You go right ahead and laugh. It’s awful, and we all know it. But we’d love for you to become an Englewoodie.” Nola laughed loudly.
Joshua produced a diamond that turned Jenny’s giggles into happy tears. Then he pulled her close enough to whisper into her ear, “You make fun all you want. Wait until our wedding night. Then you’ll be very happy with your last name.”
His promise was dark and full of sinful promises. Now that she’d gone from a girl who only walked to work to an engaged woman ready to travel to her dream destination with a man she’d never expected to find, Jenny would always wonder how she’d gotten so lucky.

About the Author
When asked ‘when do you have time to write’, Amy Gregory simply laughs. The real answer is, “in bits and pieces”. She and her husband live in Kansas City with their three fantastic kids that keep them running in three very different directions. Because she sits so much, she always carries a notebook with her at all times.
She has an off the wall, snarky, off the cuff sense of humor that often shocks even those who’ve known her for years. And she loves that her children have all been blessed that ability to make others laugh as well. At least she’s grateful most of the time! Her husband often teases her about how she “makes this stuff up” when he’s reading a piece of her work…The answer—“it just comes to me when I’m typing”. Scary thought, huh!
