“You’re nearly there,” Sloane squealed happily. I nearly stopped because of how tired I was.

Theo yelled at me as my eyes closed for half a second.

“No, Margo, just a few more pushes.”

I gritted my teeth, and with one final heaving push, I was done.

I slumped over onto the ground, panting.

“I told you, you could do it!” Theo picked me up under my arms. I stood on my shaking legs and looked at my accomplishment. I had managed to choose a sizeable boulder, around the size of Reese’s.

“I can’t believe I just did that.” I surprised even myself.

“I knew you could,” Theo’s head shook with pride. He picked me up, and I attached myself to his chest like a toddler.

“I think I deserve a reward,” I giggled in his ear before biting it. A low growl vibrated against my stomach. “Will you take me home, mate?”

“As you wish, my queen,” Theo kissed the side of my head. He turned, and we all began walking back to our house.

The peace that surrounded us in that moment wouldn't last forever, we both knew it, but with Theo at my side, I knew we could conquer anything. My rock sat proudly, nestled next to Theo's, right where it belonged. I closed my eyes and leaned into Theo’s scent, like sweet, burning wood, and I knew I was home.
