  1. Thurn, Beiträge zur Geschichte des Feldzuges im Jahre 1848 in Italien, 1850, pp. 24-25. Note that, as in many documents of the period, the numbers of troops other than infantry and cavalry are often ignored. From May 17th, this force becomes III Corps.

  2. These were the 3rd, 4th, 9th, and 10th Companies, which had become separated from the remainder of the regiment in the first days of the revolution. The main body of the regiment was in Mantua.
