“Like when you found me in the clearing?” I brushed a kiss against his throat. “Don’t deny it. I heard you.”
“Yes.” He lifted his chin up to give me more room. “My very blood froze in my veins when I saw you in that state.”
“How did you find me, exactly?” I nestled my head against him. “You never told me that part.”
“Dominique dropped Joey off at the local hospital here in Cluj-Napoca. Then she came to Olympus.”
“Man, that was quick. You can move that fast?”
“Yes. Especially since she knew you needed me.” He ran his fingers through my hair. “I have the reputation of using people’s heads for bowling balls, after all.”
I chuckled at that. “Yeah, I guess you do.”
We held each other for a while longer until a knock on the door broke the spell around us. I sighed as I pulled back but I kept my hand in his as I opened the door. A porter glanced between the two of us before he nodded his head in welcome.
“Miss McRayne, I am here to collect your luggage.”
“Of course.” I stepped to the side to let him inside. “Is the car out front?”
“Not yet. But your party is waiting at the bar downstairs.”
I released Cyrus long enough to grab my purse. He kept his arm around my shoulders until we reached the lobby.
“Why am I not surprised that Joey wouldn’t try to eat before we leave?” I caught the strap of my purse as it slid down my arm. “Let’s go grab him. I’m ready to go.”
Cyrus didn’t say another word as we entered the bar. I came to a complete halt as I recognized the party the porter had told me about.
The Olympian Council had taken over the entire restaurant. Joey was leaning against the bar next to Zeus. Dominique was in a deep discussion with a man whose hair was the same green shade as my shirt. I felt Cyrus against my back, so I felt safe enough to whisper up to him.
“You are in big trouble, Sir.”
“Eva.” Apollo bounded over to me. He took my arm and lifted it up towards the ceiling. “May I present our Representative of the Gods. Our Sibyl. My daughter.”
I started to jerk my arm free when Zeus raised his glass and called out a single phrase that became a chant amongst the group around us.
“Long live the Olympians! Long live our Sibyl!”
