“What?” Damien came over to me and stood in front of me. He placed a hand on my shoulder. “Calm down a minute. Tell me exactly what happened.”

I told Damien about going back to check on Tori and finding her with Lucien. “Just talking about it makes my blood boil even more. I haven’t wanted to kill anyone in a long time until now. Lucien is going to die!” I felt a tear run down my cheek. “I am not going to take the chance of him biting Victoria and killing her. She means too damn much to me for that to happen.”

“No...you’re not going to kill him Sebastian. We do not need to be at war with the wolves right now!”

Hearing my brother tell me I wasn’t going to kill Lucien made me even madder. I inched closer to him until we were nose to nose. “You. Do. Not. Tell. Me. What. To. Do!” I growled each word as loud as I could.

When I got to Sebastian and Damien’s house, I could hear them arguing. I didn’t even knock on the door; I just walked in. The house looked like a tornado had run through it. I found them in the living room standing nose to nose. When they heard me in the room, they both turned to look at me.

“What the hell do you want?” Sebastian growled at me.

“Well hello to you, too, Asshole!” I remarked, cutting my eyes at him.

Sebastian stepped away from Damien and came over to me. “What the fuck were you doing out in the woods with Lucien?” he asked standing so close I could feel his breath on my face.

“That’s none of your damn business!” I hissed. “Why the fuck were you watching us?”

“I was trying to make sure he didn’t kill you!”

“I think I can handle myself.” I stepped back from him. “If you were smart, you would get the hell out of my face Sebastian.”

Sebastian took a step towards me. With one thought, I sent him flying back. He crashed into a table and broke it. He instantly jumped up and ran towards me. Using my abilities again, I pushed him to the ground. “What the hell Sebastian?” I screamed walking to him.

“I just want to keep you safe, Victoria,” he groaned. “You don’t know what you are dealing with when it comes to the wolves.”

I hovered over him. “What I do is none of your business! I can keep my own damn self safe,” I bellowed sternly.

“I know, but you were making out with him!” he roared.

“Like I said, none of your business!” I released Sebastian from my hold and stepped back.

“Victoria, if he bites you, you will die,” he informed me as he stood up.

I looked over at Damien, and he shook his head. “He is telling you the truth, Tori.”

“Fuck!” I screamed. A mirror in the room exploded when I did. “Why didn’t y’all tell me about this when I was first turned?” I asked looking at them both.

Sebastian sat down on the couch. He leaned forward placing his elbows on his knees. “I honestly didn’t think we would come into contact with a werewolf this soon after your transformation,” he said, as he placed his head in his hands. “I am sorry, Victoria.”

“Great! This is just freakin great!” I started pacing the floor.

Damien came over to me. “Tori, you got to stay away from Lucien!”

I stopped pacing and looked him in the eyes. “I will do whatever the hell I wanna do!” I looked over at Sebastian. “I want both of y’all to leave me the hell alone! I told you both that I needed some distance. Respect that!” Then I turned and headed for the front door.

“Victoria, please consider my warning about Lucien,” Sebastian called out.

With my back towards them, I raised my right hand and gave them the middle finger. Then I ran out the door as fast as I could.

  Chapter 12

  Tori

I ran straight home and crashed on my bed. My head was spinning with everything I had learned in the past few days. I just wanted my old life back! I didn’t want to be in the world I was living in now where vampyres and werewolves existed. My phone pinged and alerted me of a text message. I took it out of my back pocket. The message was from Travis.

Would you like to get together for breakfast in the morning? I feel bad about leaving the party without telling you and would like to make it up to you.

I sent Travis a message back telling him that I would love to have breakfast with him. After I hit send on the message, I got up and went to my refrigerator. I looked to see if there were any blood bags left, but there wasn’t. Shit! I drank my last one before I came home. I needed some blood desperately. I went back to my bedroom and got my phone from the bed to see what time it was. It was three in the morning. Where the hell am I going to get blood at this hour? There was no way in hell I was going back to Sebastian and Damien’s house to get some blood bags. My phone alerted me of a text message. It was Travis telling me he would come by and pick me up at eleven o’clock for breakfast. I quickly messaged him back telling him that it was fine and then I grabbed my car keys. I needed blood, and I needed it now!

I drove around town looking for someone to feed on. There was a gas station that stayed open twenty-four hours a day, so that’s where I went. When I pulled into the gas station, there wasn’t anyone there except for the people who worked there. I backed my car into a parking place beside the building and waited for someone to stop by the gas station. After what felt like forever, a coal truck pulled in. My fangs came out at just the thought of finally getting to get a drink of blood. I took a deep breath to control my emotions so that I wouldn’t scare the trucker off as soon as he saw me. After I gained my composure, I got out of the car. The man had gone inside, so I went over to his coal truck and waited for him to return.

“Hello,” the man said, when he saw me standing next to his drivers’ side door. “May I help you?” he asked, looking me up and down.

“Yes, you may,” I replied, looking into his eyes. “I want you to drive up the road to the shopping center. I will be there waiting for you. Do not speak to anyone on your CB radio or your cell phone on the way there.” I turned and walked back to my car.

When he pulled into the shopping center and parked his coal truck, I got out of my car and went to the passengers’ side of the truck and climbed in.

“What are you doing?” the man asked looking over at me in confusion. “Why did I do what you said?”

“Oh Honey, you wouldn’t believe me if I told ya.” I inched closer to him.

The man held his hands up. “I am a married man,” he said sternly. “I ain’t no cheater.”

I chuckled. “I don’t wanna have sex with you, I want to drink your blood,” I replied, licking my lips.

The man looked at me with even more confusion in his eyes. “You wanna do what?”

I pressed my pointer finger to his lips. “Shhh! This will only hurt for a second. Then you will not even remember me,” I informed him, looking deep into his eyes.

Without another word, I jumped over into his lap and bit into his neck. The man let out a scream, but I didn’t care because there wasn’t anyone around to hear him. He tried to struggle, but it did no good. I drank his blood past the point of his heartbeat slowing down. My thirst was taking over me, and I really didn’t care. My body needed the blood more than ever right now. Right before his heart stopped, I released my grip on his throat. He slumped over in the seat. Well fuck! I knew I couldn’t let him die, so I bit into my wrist and put it to his lips. He didn’t respond, so I used my other hand to open his mouth. My blood dripped into his mouth slowly. Within a minute, he started to regain consciousness.

I tilted the man’s head toward me. “You stopped at the gas station and then drove here to take a nap. You will not remember me.” I quickly jumped out of the truck and went to my car.

On the way home, I felt guilty for almost draining the man. I didn’t want to kill anyone again. The guilt was still eating at me for killing the man the night I turned into a vampyre. My thirst was so intense right now though. I figured it had to be from the stress of eve
rything going on.

When I got home, I went straight to my bed and laid down. I began to cry and couldn’t stop. There was so much going through my mind. All the information about Aurora, the fact that Lucien was a werewolf and could kill me with one bite, and my feelings for Damien and Sebastian had my emotions on overdrive. Being a vampyre with heightened emotions made it even worse. I didn’t know if I was strong enough to handle everything.

I allowed myself to cry it all out and then I got up and took a shower. After I showered and put on clean clothes, I checked my phone to see what time it was. It was 10 o’clock. I had an hour to get ready for my breakfast date with Travis.

While I was putting on makeup, there was a knock at my door. I got up and went to the door. “Who is it?” I asked through the door. I didn’t really feel like company.

  “It’s Mom, Sweetie.”

I opened the door to find my mom standing on the porch with a plate of food. “Good morning Mom.” I moved to the side so she could walk in.

“Good morning, Tori. I brought you some breakfast,” she said, as she sat the plate down on the kitchen counter.

“Thanks, Mom, but I am going out to eat with a friend in a little bit,” I informed her, as I sat down on the couch.

“Oh…okay Sweetie,” she said walking over. “How have you been?” Mom asked, with a concerned look on her face. “We haven’t seen you much lately.”

“I’m good. I’ve just been busy lately,” I replied. “Sorry.”

We sat on the couch and talked for a few minutes. After she left, I finished getting ready. At eleven o’clock on the dot, Travis pulled into the driveway. I grabbed my purse and opened the door to go. Travis was standing on the porch with his fist up in the air as if he was getting ready to knock on the door.

  “Good morning,” he smiled.

“Good morning,” I smiled back. “You ready to go?”

Travis fidgeted. “Can we go inside and talk for a minute?”

I stepped aside. “Sure. Come on in.”

Travis stepped inside, and I shut the door. As soon as the door was closed, he pushed me against the door and held a stake to my chest. “I know what you are, Tori!” he whispered.

“What are you talking about Travis?” I asked, acting like I was clueless.

Travis leaned in so close I felt his breath on my face. “I saw you last night in the woods.”

“I don’t understand what you are talking about. I was out in the woods, but I don’t know what you think you saw,” I said calmly. “Please move that stake away from my chest. You are scaring me!”

He began laughing. “Stop playing dumb! I saw you in the woods last night with two guys who are vampyres.” Then he pierced my chest with the tip of the stake. “Admit it!”

Now it was my turn to laugh. “Well then…if you saw me with them, then you should know what I am capable of.” I winked. I felt my fangs extend.

“You don’t scare me,” he countered, sure of himself.

I used my abilities and made Travis go flying back into the wall across the room. I held him there. “How do you know about what I am? About the two guys I was with?” I asked, walking towards him.

“I just do!” he screamed. Travis tried to throw the stake at me, but I caught it. I threw it at him, hitting him in the shoulder. He screamed out in pain. I instantly smelled his blood. I moved in close to him and wiped some blood off him with my finger. Then I sucked it off my finger.

“I don’t want to hurt you, but so help me God, if you do not tell me what you know, I will!” I growled.

“Fine!” he yelled. “I’ll tell you. Just let me out of your hold first.”

I released him and sat down on my couch. I put my head in my hands. What the hell else is going to happen? I raised my head and looked at him. He was sitting on the floor with his back against the wall holding his hand over the wound the stake made.

“I am a vampyre hunter, Tori.” Travis looked over at me. “I was sent to Black Rock because we heard there were vampyres here.”

  “Who is we?”

“Me and the other hunters that live where I do,” he confessed.

I started laughing uncontrollably. This was all just too much. Now I can add vampyre hunters to the list of stuff I learned as of lately. I felt like I was going to lose my mind. I asked him the only question I could think of at the moment. “So…what in the hell am I supposed to do with you now?” I asked.

“I don’t know,” he answered in a groan.

“Hmmm, I could kill you,” I said, tapping my pointer finger to my lips. “Or turn you.”

“Kill me!” he moaned in pain. “I will not let you turn me into a monster.”

I laughed. “Honey, you say that like you have a choice.”

I thought for a few minutes and then decided to call Damien and Sebastian. I didn’t know what to do with Travis. Killing him was not an option for me so I would leave it up to them.

Damien answered on the second ring. “Hello, Tori.”

“Hello Damien,” I said, pausing to clear my throat. “I have a problem that I need your help with. Can you and Sebastian come to my place now?”

“Sure. Give us ten minutes.” Then he hung up the phone.

  “They will kill me, Tori.”

“And? Your point is?” I asked, being a smartass.

Travis tried to speak, but I shushed him. I didn’t want to hear anything he had to say, so I got up and went over to him. I kneeled and got really close to him. “If you move from this spot, you won’t have to worry about them. I will kill you my fuckin self!”

I walked out on my porch to get some fresh air and to get away from Travis. His blood was driving me nuts. I wanted to go back in there and drain him, but I fought the urge. I left my door open so I could see him. It wasn’t much longer till Damien and Sebastian were pulling into my driveway. It annoyed me that I had to call them, but I didn’t know who else to call.

“What’s going on?” Sebastian asked, not even looking at me.

“See that guy sitting in there…he’s a hunter,” I informed him.

Sebastian looked into my apartment. “Oh really? Are you certain?”

“He tried to stake me,” I said looking at Damien. “Plus, he admitted to me that he was a hunter.”

“Damien go inside and get him,” Sebastian commanded.

Damien walked into my apartment. Sebastian glared over at me. I mouthed sorry and then followed Damien inside. “What are y’all going to do to him?” I asked.

“We’re going to take him for a little ride,” Damien said, grabbing Travis by the arm and making him stand. “So, you’re a hunter, huh?”

“You damn right I am,” Travis replied proudly.

Damien guided Travis towards the door. “We’ll take care of this Tori.”

I followed Damien out onto the porch. Sebastian got between Damien and me. “You can’t go with us.”

  “Why not?”

“Just go to the house and wait for us Victoria,” he demanded.

“Fine!” I crossed my arms over my chest.

  Chapter 13

  Tori

When I got to Sebastian and Damien’s house, I went straight to the back patio. I needed a stiff drink and maybe even some relaxation in the hot tub. I wanted to do anything that would help get my mind off what they were doing to Travis.

When I got to the bar, I turned the stereo on a local rock station and turned it up loud. The band Ghost blared out the speakers. Then I grabbed a bottle of tequila, a shot glass, and two beers. I walked over to the hot tub and placed everything down on the ground next to it. Quickly, I stripped out of my clothes and got into the hot tub. I took four shots of tequila in a row before I opened one of the beers. Then I chugged the beer and opened the other one.

“Thirsty?” I heard Damien ask from behind me.

I turned towards his voice and found him walking through the back yard. When he got to the hot tub, I smiled. “Yes. I am very thirsty.”

&nb
sp; “May I join you?” he asked with a crooked grin.

  “It’s your house.”

Damien started taking his clothes off. When he went to unzip his pants, I noticed he didn’t have any underwear on, so I covered my eyes with my hands. I couldn’t help but peek through my fingers at him. Holy shit! He was well endowed. Suddenly, the hot tub felt much more heated.

He stepped into the hot tub and sat down. “You can look now,” he chuckled.

I reached for the tequila and poured a shot. “You want one?”

  “Hell yes!” he answered.

I reached the shot to him. “So, what happened?”

Damien tossed the shot back and handed me the glass. “We took him up in the mountains and was going to kill him.”

  I cut him off. “Was?”

“Yeah. The bastard had something in his pocket. When he got it out, it made such a loud screeching sound that Sebastian and I fell to the ground in pain.”

“What the fuck was that you reckon?” I asked, pouring myself another shot. It sounded like I was going to need a few more.

“I don’t know, but it allowed him to get away. We looked for him after our ears stopped ringing, but he was long gone,” he said frustrated.

“Where’s Sebastian?” I asked, taking another shot.

“He told me to come here to meet you. He went looking for Travis.”

“Fuck!” I thundered. “My brain hurts.” I started rubbing my temples.

“I am sure it does. You have learned a lot of things lately,” he said, raising up. “I am going to go get my bong. I think we both could use a few hits.”

I covered my eyes again while he got out of the hot tub. He didn’t grab a towel or his clothes; he just walked off naked. I gasped as I peeked through my fingers. He had the nicest ass I had ever seen.

“Stop looking at my ass,” Damien laughed. “I know you are peeking.”

Damnit! “Stop using your mind reading abilities on me.” I couldn’t help but laugh. With everything going on, I had momentarily forgotten about his mind reading abilities.
