Guri lifted his head and gave him a quick peck on the nose. “You were saying?”

Tayrym tried to recall his previous thoughts. “Uhh…. I am very thankful for you.” He wanted to kiss him again, but had to finish what was on his mind before he forgot once more. “I am thankful that you actually like me when I have liked you for so long. I am thankful that you kissed me first because I was too afraid to. I am thankful that you kissed me in front of all those people today, so we no longer have to hide what we share. And I am so thankful that you care about me so much that you’re willing to leave this planet behind. For me.”

Before Tayrym could even comprehend what was happening, Guri twisted his leg around Tayrym’s and flipped him over, smirking over of him. “You know I’ve liked you for just as long, probably even longer. But, it wasn’t until I caught you spying on me that I finally found the courage to do something about it. And that kiss?” He leaned down and lightly brushed his lips across Tayrym’s. Teasing him. Torturing him. “That was something I’d wanted to do for sooo long. And I never want to lose the ability to kiss you. That’s why I’m going with you.”

Tayrym stuck out his bottom lip. “That’s the only reason?”

“Well….” Guri sat upright, positioning himself over Tayrym’s hardness. Torture. “You know I’ve always wanted to travel beyond this planet. Plus, I think I’m in—what did Queen Lalia call it—l-love?”

“Love?” Tayrym clasped Guri’s muscular thighs, his heart fluttering uncontrollably. “Do you? I mean, I know what that means, but…. Really? Love?”

Guri chewed on his bottom lip as his forehead wrinkled. “Of course. I don’t think I would leave the planet to become a Defender if I didn’t love you.”

Stomach in knots, Tayrym squeezed his eyes shut, trying to hold back tears. For so long, he’d dreamed of hearing those words from Guri, but had become resigned to the idea of it being no more than a hopeless fantasy, even after they’d finally gotten together. After all, he was leaving Guri behind. But now they were going to train together. He’d be with the man he loved, who loved him back.

“Tay.” Guri stroked his cheek. “You okay?”

He nodded, opening his tear-covered eyes. “Yes. It’s just…. I love you, too. So much.” He sat up until he was chest to chest with Guri, holding him tight. “So, so much.”

For a few seconds, he stared at Guri, at his trembling lip, then deep into his dark eyes. He could see his own lust reflected back at him. Or maybe Guri felt the same, wanted him the same, was ready to go further than they had. To love and make love. “Mine.” Tayrym kissed him hard, holding nothing back this time.

Guri responded with just as much force. They used their tongues to battle for domination while grabbing at each other. Tayrym removed Guri’s shirt first, tossing it across the room before focusing on his boyfriend’s muscular body. He kissed his way down his neck, over sharp ridges and deep valleys, enjoying every gasp and moan that escaped Guri’s lips. Believing he had the upper hand, Tayrym paused to take off his own shirt.

“I...I have supplies.” Guri fiddled with a loose string on his pants. “Sol made sure I had them. Just in case we—”

“Good.” Cupping the other’s ass, Tayrym pulled Guri closer. “Because I want to. That is…. If you want to. If you’re ready.” As much as he yearned to give himself to the man he loved, he didn’t want to rush things. Guri would be his first, and he had no idea how soon they were supposed to move to that next level in their relationship.

“I am.” Guri kissed down his cheek and along his jawline until he came to Tayrym’s lips. Then he kissed him slowly, drawing out their contact, making it seem like time had stopped. “Now, how do you want to do this? Who…? You know.”

Tayrym fought to open his eyes. And when he went to speak, he couldn’t, his tongue still numb from their last kiss. “I….” He took a deep breath to clear his head. “I don’t know. You’re my first.”

Guri chuckled. “Well, you’re my first, too.”

  “Oh.” Tayrym glanced away. “I didn’t realize. I thought….”

Guri twitched his head. “Thought what?”

“Just that.” He shouldn’t have said anything, but he was stuck, had to explain himself. “You’re friends with so many guys. I thought you might have had a relationship with one of them already.”

Instead of getting mad, Guri lightly chuckled, making the skin around his eyes wrinkle. “I guess the same way I assumed you had some kind of relationship with the princess since you were always with her. I admit, I kissed Coop once. But nothing more than that, and it was Galactic years ago. Plus, he didn’t kiss back. He’s not into guys. Nothing since. I’ve been thinking about you, and what it would be like to have you, for far too long.”

Tayrym suppressed the slight pang of jealousy at the idea of his man kissing someone else. Guri was his now. “I’ve been thinking about you for just as long. Probably longer.”

“Okay.” Guri brushed the hair off Tayrym’s forehead. “When you thought of me, who was giving and who was receiving?”

Tayrym blushed. He did have those thoughts. So many of them. Though he’d never told anyone about them. “Well, we both did, but….”

“But what?” Guri hooked a finger under Tayrym’s chin and made him meet his gaze. “Tell me about the first time, what you imagined it would be like.”

Tayrym chuckled. “Definitely not like this.”

“Why not?” The skin around Guri’s eyes wrinkled.

“Well, we were hiding for one. No one knew about us.” He remembered the dream fondly, often revisited it in his daydreams. “And there was less talking. You just—”

“Ahh, so I took the lead.” Guri ground against him, making him harder than he already was, than he thought he could be.

Tayrym nodded, chewing on his bottom lip as a groan escaped him.

“Okay then.” Guri stood then pulled him to his feet. Shoving his thumbs into the waist of his pants, Guri pulled them down and stood naked, gloriously naked, in front of Tayrym.

He could do nothing but stare at Guri, at muscles and deep lines, and at his long cock, all previously hidden by darkness. They’d played before, touched and tasted, but always under cover. This was the first time Guri had been completely exposed in front of him. He froze, feeling more than inadequate. He was broad and awkward, had a soft belly, no firmness anywhere. Well, except his own member. But it was slowly losing strength as he lost confidence.

“Now you.” Guri nodded at him, his focus set on Tayrym’s waist. “I want all your clothes off. Right now.”

A chill ran down Tayrym’s spine. This was the demanding Guri from his dreams. And suddenly his lack of confidence didn’t matter. He simply wanted to please the man he loved. Stripping away his pants, he stood in front of Guri, waiting for his scrutiny.

As he stepped toward Tayrym, Guri groaned, the sound deep and wild. He cupped Tayrym’s balls in his palm, his other hand clasping the back of his neck and pulling him closer. Tight, until no space existed between them. “I want you,” he whispered in between kisses. “Right now.”

Tayrym let the other take the lead, couldn’t deny how much he’d wanted it like this all along. When Guri guided him around the room, he followed along, until the back of his knees hit the bed and he fell back. The mattress cushioned his fall, but between that and his lust for Guri, he was left breathless. His head spun, his mind consumed with want. No, need.

Guri moved onto the bed above him, his gaze full of love and lust.

Tayrym swallowed down any lingering fear. He wanted this, was ready to be with Guri in every way possible, mind, heart, and body. Grabbing his boyfriend’s waist, Tayrym pulled Guri onto him then wrapped his legs around him. Guri grinned before cupping Tayrym’s cheeks and kissing him. Hard. Lips and tongues danced together in an intense assault on his senses. When his boyfriend began to grind over him, he became delirious. Blind need took over, and all he could think about was getting Guri into him. Somehow. Some
way. “Now,” he groaned.

Guri pulled away and nodded. “Okay.” He reached over to his dresser and grabbed two bottles. One he used to spray a liquid over his cock. From the other, he squirted a different liquid into his palm. A liquid he then used two fingers to spread over Tayrym’s anus. He bucked at the sensation. He knew it was necessary to loosen his muscles, had enjoyed Guri teasing him there during previous encounters, but his nerves were so tense at that moment, he couldn’t avoid the reaction.

“Mmm. Very sensitive.” Guri kissed him, his two fingers still pressed against Tayrym’s hole, waiting to enter. “You ready?”

Tayrym nodded. Leaning back, he closed his eyes and lifted his hips. His breath caught with the initial entry, and he whimpered at the slight pain.

Guri kissed his forehead, his cheeks, and then his lips. “You okay, Tay? You want me to continue?”

Opening his eyes, Tayrym tried to hide his discomfort. “Yes,” he squeaked.

“Okay.” Guri slowly pushed his fingers in then drew them out. A repeated cycle. “Just let me know if you want me to stop.”

But Tayrym was so overwhelmed with all the sensations, new pleasures from Guri’s penetration to his entrance and torturous sucking on his neck, he no longer experienced any hurt. At some point, Guri added another finger, ramping up the intensity of bliss rolling through Tayrym, the majority of it centering in his groin. He didn’t know if he could hold onto the feeling much longer. He was going to explode. “I’m ready.” Struggling to compose himself, he reached between them until he held onto Guri’s hard cock. He spread the precum over his tip then gently pumped him, made sure he was ready, too. “I want to now. I need you in me. Now.”

Without a word, Guri reached over for a bottle and spread some of the thick liquid over his member. When he had lined himself up with Tayrym’s entrance, he leaned over him. “Please tell me to stop if I hurt you, Tay. That’s the last thing I want to do.”

Tayrym nodded, anxiously awaiting his penetration, the ultimate connection between them. When the moment came, Tayrym held in a scream. The sharp pain was intense, but not lasting enough to make him want Guri to pull out. Tears lined his eyes, but he hoped his boyfriend didn’t notice. He wanted him to keep going, to finish inside him.

“Tay.” Guri stared down at him. “Tay baby, be honest. Are you okay?”

“Yes.” He rocked his hips, hoping Guri would do the same. “I love you.” He leaned up and kissed the other, hoping to wipe away his look of concern.

Guri sank slowly in before pulling out. Over and over. A sensuous attack on Tayrym’s prostate. Guri held onto him the entire time, kissing his face, whispering I love yous. It may not have been how Tayrym had dreamed, but it was better. Because it was real. Guri loved him, said so over and over while making love to him. It was the beginning of their future together.

“I’m so close.” Guri sat up and lifted Tayrym’s hips to keep them aligned. A different angle, and a more extreme sensation. Grabbing Tayrym’s cock, Guri ran his thumb along the bulging veins as he thrust faster and faster. Fire burned in Tayrym’s belly until he came with a wail, his release so intense, he thought his whole body would explode. Yet Guri kept grinding, extending Tayrym’s release, electric shocks still shooting up from his groin. He gripped the sheets simply to maintain his sanity.

Now holding Tayrym’s hips, Guri drove in harder than ever. He was no longer focused on Tayrym, but seemed lost in his own world. He roared with the last push, his load shooting out hot within Tayrym. Sweat dripping down his face, Guri slowly pulled out of him then lay beside him on the bed, his breath heavy and uneven. “I…. Are you okay?”

Tayrym turned onto his side and wiped the sweat from Guri’s brows. “Yes. Are you?”

“Gotta clean up.” Sitting up, Guri grabbed the shirt he’d been wearing earlier and wiped away the remnants of their releases. “But, yeah.”

Satiated and exhausted, Tayrym cuddled into Guri’s chest, wrapping his arms around the other’s waist. “I love you. I never imagined this feeling to be so intense, but I love you with everything I have.”

Guri kissed the top of his head. “I love you, too, Tay. You are my everything.”

Snuggling closer, Tayrym yawned. He’d never been more confident in who he was, and a future that lay ahead for him and Guri. Together.

  Chapter Four

Guri smiled and gave a quick wave as he finished his farewell to the royal family. Sol had just arrived from the school, and Guri wanted to talk to him before he left the planet. Besides, Tayrym needed to be with the royal family more than him. His mother hadn’t shown up to say goodbye. Though Guri had suspected that would happen, Tayrym hadn’t stopped hoping she would have a change of heart. Instead, Queen Lalia, Prince Bryce, and Princess Gwenodyn were his family there to send him off.

“So, you’re really going through with this.” Sol raised his eyebrows before giving Guri a brief hug. “I thought you’d change your mind at the last minute, realize how homesick you’d be away from me.”

Guri chuckled and shook his head. “Yes, because you’re the greatest housemate ever. Unfortunately, I like my boyfriend even more. But, don’t worry, everyone will be lining up to claim my spot in the house.”

Smiling, Sol glanced over his shoulder to a figure standing in the distance, outside the dome and nowhere near the crowd seeing him and Tayrym off.

“Who’s that?” Though the unfamiliar person was too far away for Guri to see clearly, their body shape seemed like an adult male.

  Sol shrugged. “My new housemate.”

Guri took a couple steps forward and squinted, trying to get a better look. “Why isn’t he over here? Do I know him?”

Sol tugged him back by his shirt. “He’s shy, and no. Maybe I’ll introduce you over the com when you’re on the carrier. That is, if you figure out how to use it.”

“Go to Gaspra.” Guri punched his friend in the arm. “That’s what I have Tayrym for now.”

“Well, you should get going unless you’ve decided to stay.” Sol shoved him forward, toward Tayrym and the waiting shuttle.

Guri gave his friend another quick hug before rushing to meet up with Tayrym. They clasped hands, waved to those they were leaving behind, then walked up the ramp and into the shuttle. Guri felt like his body was being attacked by thousands of tiny thorns, his nerves making an unpleasant appearance. Tayrym must have sensed it somehow because he squeezed his hand at that moment and gave him the biggest smile. All his doubts washed away. They were together. They would be fine.

“Get yourselves buckled in,” a Warwa Defender said from the front of the shuttle. “We need to return to the carrier immediately.”

After he and Tayrym took the two seats closest to the bridge, another Warwa Defender, who looked frighteningly similar to the captain, helped them figure out the safety straps. “A platoon has been requested on Niaps. The carrier is waiting for us, but they’ll be dropping off the platoon before taking you to Kalara.”

Guri nodded. He had no idea what to expect during this whole adventure, wasn’t sure if Tayrym did either.

The Defender glanced down at their interlaced fingers then back up at them. “It will give you more time together before you’re split up during training.”

Tayrym’s grip on his hand tightened. “Split up?”

Stepping back toward the bridge, the Defender furrowed his brows. “Well, I assume so. Unless the two of you receive top scores during the first rounds of field training, they’ll likely put you into different groups to run the simulations. Though, they may be nice and keep you together since you’re the first pure Hemera to enter Defender training.”

He left before Guri or Tayrym could ask any more questions.

Guri’s chest tightened, his throat feeling like it was going to close. This wasn’t right. They were supposed to be together throughout the entire thing. He hadn’t signed up, agreed to go just to be whisked away from the man he loved. It wouldn’t be any different than staying beh
ind on Hemera. Tayrym wasn’t as athletic as him. He thought he could help him out, keep them on an even level. But what if he couldn’t? What if their differences took them in opposite directions? Would they ever see each other once they started training?

“I’m scared.” Tayrym peeped out, his face suddenly pale. “I think I’ve changed my mind. I want to stay on Hemera. Something’s calling me back.” He fumbled with his harness. “This was a mistake. We need to stay.”

“No, we’ll be fine.” Guri took a deep breath and swallowed his own doubts. They couldn’t back out. They couldn’t return to Hemera without giving the village even more reason to condemn them. He strained against his harness to kiss Tayrym. “I’ll do everything I can to ensure we’re together. Always. I signed up for this with the understanding that we’d be together. Don’t worry.” Bryce had assured him they’d be together for all of their training. Said as long as they both performed well, they would likely be in the same squadron. Life would only be worse if they remained on Hemera. At least the Defenders seemed to be more accepting of them together. On their home planet, they’d still face so much criticism. They had to make it through this together. Somehow, he’d find a way to make it happen.

  ***

Tayrym reached out for Guri’s hand as they passed each other, Tayrym on his way to simulation training while Guri headed somewhere else. Probably to run the obstacle course. That brief interaction of whispered I love yous and his palm brushing along the sweaty palm of his boyfriend would likely be the only contact they’d have that day. Their time together on the carrier had passed far too quickly. Spending time making love and lying in bed while discussing their hopes for the future had quickly become rushing through courses and simulations when they’d reached Kalara, eating only darobars so they kept somewhat healthy. But not together. As soon as they’d reached the planet with their trans chips implanted behind their ears, they’d been split up, none of the newly-installed bunkhouses with more than one empty bed, and no one willing to move so he and Guri could be together. It wasn’t as if their trainers cared, either, reciting over and over, “Defenders don’t have time for the drama of a relationship.”
