  ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

As with every new book that I write, I find myself utterly blown away by the kindness of my readers, who not only spend their hard-earned pennies on reading my stories, but who also take the time to leave lovely reviews on Amazon, to e-mail me, or send a message on Facebook. I’m so grateful for all your positivity and generosity, which is the sole reason why I continue to enjoy writing the characters I know and love, in the region where I was born. It is down to you, that Penshaw became a UK number one bestseller within twenty-four hours of its release on pre-order and, in so doing, became my tenth UK number one.

I feel so lucky to be able to write stories for a living, and I have a lot of people to thank for their continuing love, support and encouragement in that endeavour. First and always, my wonderful husband, James, whose love for and faith in me, has been pivotal in my writing career and in our lives together as a family; my son, Ethan, for his laughter and mischievous nature, and for keeping me ‘young’; my mother, Susan, for her love, vivacity and hilarious one-liners that often find their way into Phillips’ conversation; my father, Jim, for his quiet wisdom, humility and excellent taste in music; and, finally, Rachael, whose bubbly sense of humour and loving spirit are all I could wish for in a sister.
