Tied In Knots (Immortals Book 7) Page 8

by LJ Vickery

She mewled again, but held still. He was capable of tormenting her for a long duration if she disobeyed.

After a prolonged minute, he clearly decided he was through playing. Holding her in place on the desk with his hands gripping her hips, Matthew started a pounding rhythm.

Every bit of his thick cock beat against her inner walls. His breath rasped loudly in her ear, mixing with a desperate moan that let her know he was near to exploding.

He’d kept her on edge with the belt, and his relentless strokes were quickly bringing her close to climax as well. Every muscle inside her pussy clenched and pulled at his dick to seat him deeper. Both of his large hands abandoned her hips and slid between her and the desk to grab her breasts. He teased and plucked her nipples until she stilled completely beneath him, reaching for her peak, knowing release was imminent.

Matthew pinched the buds once, hard, and Beletseri saw stars as she came with a force that scared even her. Matthew angled his cock to stroke into her G-spot, prolonging her orgasm and causing her muscles to continuously clamp around him. She howled with satisfaction, something foreign to her, then became even more excited when Matthew rasped at what a good girl she was for coming so hard.

His cock grew fatter, if that was possible. Clearly, he wasn’t through.

With a groan, he picked up the pace again, and within seconds, his dick erupted, sending violent spurts of cum up into her welcoming channel. He roared, digging his fingers into her sides and holding her ass flush against him until he was empty and his breathing came back under control.

“Oh, Matthew,” Bel purred from her prone position as he stood behind her, still joined. “That was the best yet.”

“It better not get any better, or it might kill me,” Matthew agreed.

Bel laughed, but his words struck a chord. It was time to make sure he couldn’t be killed. Or age. Or die as a mortal.

Bel had put off risking it. The whole procedure was dangerous, and therefore completely distasteful to think about, but it had to be done. It was much more difficult and physically risky for a goddess to mate and make a god out of a human male than it was for a god to take a Chosen.

Beletseri gave an internal shrug. She would not give Matthew the option of whether he wanted to go through with the transformation. Bel had decided. It was time to make her man a god, whether he liked it or not.

  Chapter Eight

“Why is Absu on the floor?”

Absu heard Dani-Lee as if from a distance. He’d been aware that the doctor was busy cleaning up after the delivery of the baby, so he didn’t want to call attention to himself. And besides, he was hazily enjoying the picture of Marduk embracing his new family. No big deal that she completely missed him, nearly prone in the corner, where he’d collapsed upon entering the room.

“Pussy let his guard down, but don’t worry. We saved his ass in time,” Anshar quipped.

Charlie, who had just entered the room, rushed to Absu’s side, and let out a worried cry that had Dani hurrying over and kneeling down.

“You idiots. He’s bleeding out,” the doctor barked beside a groggy Absu. “It looks like the brachiocephalic trunk,” she muttered. “Get him into my operating room stat.” Dani didn’t wait for agreement from the sheepish gods, and Absu would have chuckled if he’d had the energy. She marched from the room, angry and radiant, to prepare for patching him up.

“Please don’t worry, Chuck.” Absu smiled woozily at the worried face that remained in front of his as he was lifted by his friends. “I will regain my strength rapidly. This is just a flesh wound.” He felt a gush of blood dampen his neck, but bless her heart, Charlie didn’t demur or argue. She was too busy attempting to keep pace with Enlil and Enten as they followed the doctor’s orders. He felt her grab for his hand.

“I won’t leave you, Absu. I’ll be right here when she puts you under, and right here when you wake up.”

“Um, about that.” Enten’s interjected cough sounded pained. “Absu may be, uh, allergic to anesthesia. Yeah, allergic. So the doc can’t use it.”

Absu couldn’t explain to her that, on certain injuries, it took so much to put a god out that drugs became toxic. And it never worked on gods who had already morphed into their alter egos.

Holy shit. What if under duress Absu morphed into his alter self with Charlie as witness, not to mention all the other gods. Only Enten was aware of his beast, and he wanted to keep it that way. This was so fucked up.

If we can entice her away, she won’t witness anything abnormal that might happen. Enten sent his suggestion to all listening heads.

The doctor answered, Good luck with that, she scoffed. In this girl’s heart, she’s already Absu’s Chosen. There’s no way you’re getting her to leave.

Sorry, buddy, Enlil commiserated with Absu. You’re going to have to suck this up and explain shit to her later if things go weird.

Absu worried to his friends, I just don’t want to put the fear of the gods into Charlie by revealing anything too soon. Absu’s voice sounded weak even in his own head. But if I had to make an educated guess, I think I’m on my way to passing out. Thankfully, he felt himself slipping under just as he was transferred to Dani’s operating table.

  ****

“Are you sure you want to stay?” Dani-Lee asked Charlie, cutting the bloody shirt from Absu’s body. “He may wake up off and on while I’m operating. It won’t be pretty.”

“I’m good.” She squared her shoulders and looked on as Dani scrubbed the wound and sliced back a good-size flap of skin, probing between muscles before adding suction in order to see the severed artery. “As long as you’re sure he’ll be okay.”

“In a couple of hou…days, Absu will never even know he was hurt,” Dani sounded one hundred percent confident.

If anyone had told Charlie that she’d witness something like this up close and personal, she would have assured them that she’d never sit in on any operation for fear of a nauseous reaction. But oddly, as she regarded interior parts of Absu she never contemplated seeing, she didn’t feel the least bit queasy. Dani angled the light overhead, leaned in, and began stitching.

Charlie watched in amazement. She’d never seen anything so cool. As the doctor joined the sliced tissue, it looked as if it started to heal before her very eyes. It had to be Dani’s expertise as a surgeon that made it look so perfect.

Absu stirred once while his neck lay open, and Charlie refused to let go of his hand when his grip tightened almost painfully. His awareness didn’t last but a few seconds, for which Charlie was eternally grateful. She was so fascinated with the procedure that she didn’t want to draw her eyes away from his wound.

“Just have to close up now,” Dani comforted. “Hang in there, Charlie.” She stitched quickly, and like the artery, the layers coming together seemed to knit under her needle. Charlie was amazed.

“Remind me to see you if I ever need an operation. It’s almost like you’re preforming magic.”

A slight color came up into Dani’s face, and she whopped a huge bandage over the incision the minute she looped off the last stitch. “There,” she said with a release of breath. “That should hold it.”

As if on cue, Absu moved again. This time with more cognizance. When he squeezed Charlie’s hand, she could feel the tension leak out of his body. His voice sounded gruff when he spoke. “How long must I remain prone, Dani?”

It figures those would be his first words. Charlie snorted. None of these big guys looked like they relished being out of commission.

“I’d say you should stay flat on your back for at least forty-eight hours. That should give you time to replenish your blood supply. After that, another day of lounging about, and then it depends on how well you feel,” the doctor answered.

Charlie scowled. That sounded odd. Didn’t people need transfusions if they’d lost blood? Maybe, despite appearances, Absu hadn’t lost as much as Charlie figured.

He struggled to get up, but she held him down, gently
but firmly with determination. “You heard what the doctor said,” Charlie chastised. “Flat on your back.” She only relented long enough to allow two of his attending friends to lift him up and deposit him on the comfortable hospital bed at the other end of the room where she’d already turned down the sheet and blanket.

“But we have tickets to leave for California tomorrow morning at first light.” Absu turned his head and looked at Dani-Lee. She shook hers in the negative.

“Not even close, Absu. You are not getting on a plane tomorrow.”

He glowered up at Charlie. “Then you will have to postpone your leave taking for a few more days.”

“Oh no, I won’t,” Charlie disagreed. “I have a job to get back to, and I don’t want to be fired. They’ve already been more than generous in giving me a week off.”

Absu actually growled deep in his throat, which made Charlie’s heart take a little skip.

“I forbid it,” he said, with a finality that made Charlie’s nipples perk up and take notice. But this wasn’t about sex, this was about her livelihood.

“You have nothing to say about it,” Charlie replied as gently as possible. “Maity and I will be just fine accompanied by my brother and Candy. Besides,” she gave an impish smile, “who made you my keeper, anyway?”

Dani and the guys who had been hanging around must have taken that as their cue to leave, because she heard the door close, looked up, and the room was suddenly empty.

  ****

Absu sighed. It was time to man up and get a few things straight with his future mate, and his buddies were pushing for it to happen now, even though he’d just come near to losing all of his blood. A real bummer for a god.

Grow a pair and tell her how it’s going to go, Mr. Deportment. The sooner you take charge and she falls for you, the sooner you can fill her in on what we are, Enlil decreed from outside the room.

Of course, you know of what you speak. I watched how well that strategy worked for you, Absu challenged Enlil. The god of wind, while trying to “tame” his Chosen, Candy, had been knocked flat on his ass every time he employed his take charge, caveman tactics. Absu much preferred a firmer, yet more refined, approach.

Clearly, as Enlil continued with his advice, the blustery god didn’t remember his own difficulties. You are such a pussy. Just let her know who’s boss. And by the way? Your ass is toast once you’re up and around for being a prick and not calling for help with those demons, Enlil growled, always ready to fight.

It was done with all good intent, Absu assured. But regardless, I eagerly await the opportunity to wipe the arrogance from your face. You will be well met, sir. Absu gave an inward laugh.

Enlil chuckled back. The two of them had been known to break furniture during their sparring sessions, and it would be a grand way to make sure Absu was in tip-top shape before heading West with Charlie. He turned his attention back to his mate and answered her concerns.

“I am not in charge of you, Chuck.” He used the endearing nickname on purpose. “But I want to make sure that you and Maity remain safe. Ken and Candy have their jobs with the DEA to attend to, and won’t be able to oversee your daily activities.” Nobody had yet said it, but with the demons on the loose, it was obvious that Beletseri had stepped up her game. It remained to be seen how the rogue goddess had spirited the spawns out of hell, but they needed to figure it out before she could recruit more.

“You’ll be able to join us in a few days,” Charlie continued, not knowing his true worries. “I’ll just go to work and come home until you get there.”

He was aware by her heartrate that she’d just told a fib.

“And avoid Hal like the plague,” she continued.

At least that was the truth.

Absu wanted to order her to stay, but didn’t want to raise her hackles and have her stalk off in anger. “Fine,” he sighed. “If you promise to behave, I won’t have cause to be angry. But if you disobey…” He left off the end of the sentence, because really, until they set up certain rules, what could he do if she didn’t follow his orders?

Absu was aware that Charlie’s heartrate increased exponentially. And was that a flush that came up her cheeks? Was it trepidation on her part, or was she excited by the possibility of his anger? Absu tamped down the thrill moving through him that it might be the latter.

“Come here, little one. I’d like to hold you,” he said gently, getting himself back under control. The last thing he wanted right now was for her to fear him. For the moment, he would show her his tender side. And dammit, he needed to touch her and inhale her fine wine scent. It would hasten his healing. He just knew it.

“Umm, should I go to your room and get you a shirt?” Her gaze roamed over the vast expanse of his bare chest, and just like that, any fear she might have exhibited, disappeared, and she eyed him like candy. That was enough to make his head spin. He was practically drooling at the idea of cuddling his bare skin up against her. Even though she thought she needed to be careful of his stitches.

“Maybe it would be better if yours came off.” The words popped out of his mouth of their own volition, and while he struggled hurriedly to backpedal, Charlie grabbed for the hem of her T-shirt.

“Your wish is my command,” she whispered. Absu held his breath, not quite daring to believe she planned to comply.

Charlie peeled the material up and over pale alabaster skin. Not a blemish marred the smooth expanse of her upper body. The god’s mouth turned dry as two perfect little breasts revealed themselves. She wore no bra. All he could do was stare.

“Are you okay?” Charlie questioned. “Do you want me to get the doctor?”

He could feel the small beads of sweat―the cause of her concern―that had popped out on his forehead.

“No…I…it’s just that I’ve never seen anyone so beautiful before.” Her pink nipples plumped at his praise, and she turned her back to him, as if suddenly shy.

“I…maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. I don’t want you getting agitated.”

“Too late.” Absu coughed, pain coursing through his incision. Still, it was nothing like the agony in the appendage hardening behind his zipper. “It would now be considered cruel if you abandoned me after displaying your lovely breasts with such charm. I will extract a promise from you this very minute. You must spend the night here and sleep with me.” He wanted her to turn back around. If she attempted to leave him now, he would disobey doctor’s orders and follow.

Her words came out choked. “I won’t leave,” she whispered, turning once again to face him. She stepped close, peeling down the blankets. Giving him her back for a second time, Charlie eased herself up and in. She nestled her back to the front of him before covering them both over. Her hand went immediately to his thigh, and his found the top of her jeans where warmth beckoned.

If she figured this position would be easier for him, she was wrong. Her warm, lush ass nestled into the solid proof that Absu found her desirable, and his chest burned like a raging wall of fire against her bare skin. Absu swallowed hard. It probably wasn’t good for his recovery to be so aroused, so he tried to calm what little boiling blood remained in his upper body.

He’d almost managed to get his breathing regulated when Charlie slowly brought her hand up from where it rested on his leg, to wrap her fingers around his thumb where it looped into the top of her jean’s pocket. She grabbed hold and eased his clenched hand up her side until he touched her bare skin. Hesitating only slightly, Charlie spread open his fist and laid it fully over the soft globe of her breast. His cock became harder than before, if that was possible. Absu figured he might have even gained a few extra inches.

“Chuck?” His voice was a gruff question.

“It’s a comfort thing,” Charlie told him in a small voice. “I don’t know why, but I sleep better if something is nestled into my chest.” He heard the embarrassed smile in her statement. “When I was little, I used to stick my stuffed animals up my pajama top and rest them there. Th
en I would be sound asleep within minutes.”

Absu liked that, and was never more glad to help out. He did everything he could to keep his hand still and gentle, but it was tough when her nipple made itself known so prominently against the center of his palm. If he started moving and playing, injured or not, he’d be unable to stop. Would Charlie even allow such advances? It was not worth the risk. He willed himself to relax around her, and schooled his breathing to sound as if he were intent on sleep.

A short amount of time passed, and Charlie’s breathing smoothed out as every bit of tension in her body dissolved. It took only minutes―as she had said―for her to drop off.

Absu was prepared to be awake and on edge for hours, but the events of the evening finally took their toll. Less than ten minutes after she had succumbed, the god recognized that he followed Charlie into slumber.

  Chapter Nine

Absu’s eyelids fluttered open only to find no head resting on the pillow next to him or a warm body snug up against him. Breathing in hurt, so he steeled himself to swing his legs out from under the covers when the door opened and little Maity toddled in.

“Da,” she screeched, and it was music to his ears. She headed straight for him, her chubby legs churning with determination. She was caught from behind by her mother’s one free hand. The other held a suitcase.

“Remember, sweetie, Absu’s got a boo-boo and we don’t want you to hurt him.”

“Kiss,” Maity declared and strained away, whining to reach him. Charlie held on tight to the squirming bundle.

“I’m feeling much better this morning,” Absu lied. Sure, the pain wasn’t a burning fire anymore, but where his tissues had knit, there was a god-awful pulling that made him feel like his skin was on too tight. “You can let her go.”

“It’s your funeral.” Charlie shrugged. “She doesn’t know the meaning of gentle.” The little girl bolted toward him as soon as she was free. Maitlynn bumped into the bed and Absu reached down, lifting her up with the arm on his good side. She cooed as she was brought aloft. She started to reach for his face, but a quick understanding raced across her visage and she immediately leaned back from him to look at his bandage.
