“Your lips feel so good on me,” Zan said and nipped Cade’s bottom lip before claiming another kiss.

The kiss was slow, their tongues dueling with unhurried ease that set a fire in Cade. He loved what the man did to him with a single kiss.

“Mmm,” Zan moaned softly and stroked his hands down to grip Cade’s hips.

Cade kissed a path from Zan’s shoulder to his chest, nipping and biting as he went. His teeth teased the flat nipple and then licked over it before kissing a path to the other one.

  “Baby,” he rasped.

Cade sucked hard at Zan’s nipple and swirled his tongue around the tiny bead before swiping at it.

Zan moaned and pushed his fingers into the thick, richly colored strands of Cade’s hair and pulled as Cade’s teeth closed over his nipple. “Oh fuck, baby. That makes me crazy with want for you.”

Cade licked a trail down to his stomach. He nipped at the firm muscle, traced the outline of his navel, and straightened to push Zan down on the bed before discarding his briefs.

“Lube’s in the nightstand,” Zan crooned, watching him with hungry eyes.

Cade retrieved it and dropped next to Zan on the bed before straddling him. Cade ground against him, their erect cocks grinding against each other.

A harsh gasp filled the air but that wasn’t what caught Cade’s attention. Zan looked past him, so Cade turned to see what he was looking at.

  Chapter Eighteen

Standing in the doorway, with one finger tweaking one nipple while the other hand stroked her stomach, her eyes were half closed as she watched them. She was gorgeous, her eyes dark with hunger, glowing slightly.

Cade looked down at Zan, the lust-drunk eyes were still on her. He swallowed tightly. Now was time to shit or get off the pot.

Part of him screamed at him to order her to get away from the door, but close it first.

The other part of him knew the reality was he had to know what she felt like, tasted like.

Cade stopped moving his hips, but his hands kept stroking.

Zan looked up at him. “Your call, Cade.”

Cade saw the honesty in his man’s eyes and it tugged at his heart. “Zaria, come here.”

“Get up, Cade,” Zan murmured. “I want you under the bottom.” He caressed Cade’s arms.

Cade climbed off him and lay on the bed on his back as Zaria joined them. Zan kissed her and she clung to him, moaning.

“Here, let’s take these off,” Zan said and helped her undress. Then, he palmed her full breasts and pinched the dark nipples.

Cade watched Zan’s hands caress her body as if he were stroking a fine instrument. Zaria moaned roughly.

“Zan,” she breathed raggedly but threw him a heavy-lidded stare.

Damn, she was hot like that.

  “Go to Cade,”

She climbed on top of him and the supple way her body moved against his made his cock leak and fire flare inside him in anticipation. He glided his hands up her arms, savoring the softness of her skin, and she dipped her head to kiss him greedily.

Cade was virtually blown away by the taste of her.

She moved erotically against him, and Cade reached between them to cup one breast even as he tore his mouth from hers to fasten his lips on her nipple. He sucked hard and kneaded the other with an eager hand.

“Cade,” she murmured softly in encouragement. She rocked against him, hands braced on the bed as she rubbed her clit against the ridge of his cock.

He hissed the pleasure sparking in his blood. “Oh fuck.” He threw Zan a look and there was a smile playing on his lips. Did he know she would feel this right to him?

Zan moved behind her then and kissed the side of her neck. “Does Cade feel as good as you’d hoped, Zari?”

“Better.” She rubbed her back against Zan’s front and Cade drew his tongue over her nipple, drawing a cry from her. At the same time, Zan nipped her shoulder. Their eyes held and he wanted nothing more than for them to share her.

“I want you both,” she said drowsily and reached back with one hand to stroke the back of Zan’s head.

Zan grabbed the lube and ran a hand down her back making her arch and grind against Cade.

Cade sat up and slid his hand over her stomach and down between her thighs eager to caress, to see her response to him.

He stroked her clit and she gasped. Her eyes were filled with arousal despite the objection.

“Too much?” he asked. He’d learned a little about how to please a woman from Alicia.

“Like this.” She took his hand and showed him where to touch her and he did. She sighed. “Like that.”

She caught her bottom lip between her teeth, eyes bright with desire, and he rubbed his fingers down her slit. She was already so wet it amazed him that she was so hungry for him, for them both.

“Do you want me, baby?” he asked in a whisper and her eyes glowed, making his stomach flutter. Something inside him was responding to something in her and it left him breathless.

“So much I can hardly wait to have you inside me,” she murmured. “I’ve dreamed about having you.”

“Just me?” he asked, sliding a digit inside her.

She gasped and cupped his jaw. “Do you even know how sexy you are?”

Zan made him feel that way when he looked at him, but he had no idea a woman saw him that way. Alicia never really did.

She kissed him softly and moaned and Cade knew Zan was getting her ass ready. That excited him more, made him eager to have her.

“Have you ever had two men, Zari?” Cade asked.

“No,” she said breathlessly and groaned. “I’ve never had—” A tap landed on her ass and she broke off. “I want you to want me, Cade.”

“I do,” he assured her and kissed her. What did it matter to her? Zan was her primary goal, right?

She urged him back on the bed and reached down to grip his cock. She lifted her hips and slowly sank down on him.

Her pussy was hot as it sucked him right in, the grip tight and unrelenting as it held him in her depths. His eyes crossed from the pleasure of her.

She seated him fully in her clasp and they both shuddered before she began moving on him. For the love of all that was right, she felt perfect.

“God, Cade.” She braced her hands on the bed next to him as she moved, making soft woman noises.

He gripped her hips but Zan’s hands came to rest just above his, halting him as he went to thrust his cock into her pussy. He waited and her eyes widened.

  “Too much, baby?” Cade asked.

  “Not yet,” she said breathlessly.

Cade looked over her shoulder and locked gazes with Zan. His brow was furrowed as he worked his thick cock into her ass. He knew she had to be deliciously tight and he’d take her there next time.

Zan groaned and Zaria sighed. For a moment Zan was motionless, then he began to move in her. Cade picked up his rhythm, thrusting up as Zan drew out. The feel of her damp pussy around him was exquisite pleasure like he’d never known and his harsh groans matched hers as his own lust raged out of control.

Zaria scraped her nails over Cade’s chest. “Cade! Zan!” she cried as their dicks hammered into her. Zaria met them thrust for thrust as she threw her head back, and Cade held her tight as she flew out of control.

“Zaria, baby, god you feel so damn good,” Cade crooned.

“Oh yeah! Cade!” she screamed, and he thrust into her, grunting out his own release. “Zan, yes!”

Zan thrust into her ass one more time and Cade felt the movement of him through the thin wall of her body and savored the brush of his man’s dick against his. A drop of her sweat plopped onto his chest as she convulsed, thrown into a second orgasm.

“Fuck,” Zan cried and then sagged against her back.

Cade met his gaze again and sat up as Zan leaned toward him. Their lips brushed in a soft kiss at the same time Zaria’s mouth connected with his jaw and a jolt of energy sizzled through him making him tingle
all over.

Zan blinked and drew back from him and Zaria gasped. Cade turned his head a fraction to look at her, concern making him want to right whatever was wrong.

“Shit,” Cade exclaimed softly. Her eyes were luminous brown in her brown face, which seemed to glow, as well.

He looked back at Zan as Zaria moved her fingers from the back of his head. Colored energy danced on them and he lifted his own hand to see the same on his fingers.

“What’s happening?” Cade demanded of neither of his lovers in particular.

  Chapter Nineteen

Kel stood outside on his porch with Zier sipping a cup of coffee and contemplating the aftermath of last night, but his grief for the cats faded as the land before him glowed a vibrant green, soil and all.

“What the hell?” Zier exclaimed softly.

Kel shook his head and walked down the steps and to the side of the cabin from which he could see part of the orchard as well as the cliff that loomed in the distance. His jaw dropped as the stone structure grew two feet.

What he couldn’t see was the waters in the newly formed creek roiling and turning a crystal green where they’d been blue. Inside the already cavernous cave beneath the cliff, fire red and green crystals pushed to the granite surface.

Suddenly the sky began to darken and he stared up at it. The fluffy white in the clear blue now dotted a midnight canvas with silver speckles.

“Oh my god, Kel,” Zier murmured and Kel turned to find his mate hurrying toward him at a clipped pace. “It’s begun.”

Jarvis stopped in his jog through the park as the sky darkened above him. His heart stopped and fear skittered through him as he searched the skies for a ball, a streak, or flash of light indicating an asteroid or comet had broken through the Earth’s protections.

He didn’t see any such thing, but around him he heard whispers of walkers on the trail with him.

Even before he ripped his gaze from the sky, he smelled the change. The air held a green, natural scent he couldn’t place. A glance to his left where nothing but fall foliage had been was shadows of shorter trees or something.

The ground shifted beneath their feet, and he swayed. Jarvis stumbled and the sound of a tearing rumble came from his left and Jarvis’s head jerked that way.

“Honey, the flashlight,” a frantic woman commanded.

  The beam flooded the area.

“Oh my stars,” the woman said breathlessly. “What is that?”

“A baby mountain?” the man answered her question with one of his own.

Ashley’s killer looked up to the window in the bedroom where a young woman was being held. The cameras in the room watched her every move, even in the bathroom. However, the sanctuary was safe and she couldn’t harm herself or the child she was carrying.

“Why is it dark?” she demanded. “You said you wouldn’t cover the windows!”

He stepped out of the room ignoring her shrill screams of rage. He closed the door that automatically locked behind him thanks to the lodestone crystals in the door’s structure that acted like a magnet and created a lock only the crystal key could open.

He strolled down the corridor and around the corner where his own room was located and into his bedroom. He pulled back the curtains to be greeted by dark.

He left his bedroom and went downstairs to the dining room where the family normally dined together. His mother was there with his father who was dressed for work and wore a somber expression. They’d heard about Judge Logan’s death. The older man had been a friend and mentor of his father’s.

“It’s happening,” the older man said. He stood before the window overlooking the garden and Ashley’s killer joined him. “There’s nothing Jarvis can do now but run.”

“The judge’s house was ransacked. They had to have been looking for his journals.”

“Damn it,” he muttered, keeping his cry low. “Find out who killed him, and took the journals. We have to get them. There are secrets in them that even I don’t know about the founders of this town.”

“You didn’t expect the transformation to be this vivid?” he asked quietly. He knew he didn’t. His grandfather and the other elders had spoken of the change, but they had kept their terms vague.

Even he hadn’t known what to expect when they’d said this town would become more Barrian.

“No,” he said. “The sky is lightening again.”

The dark was relenting and again the sky was becoming the dusky rose of morning.

“Oh, the beauty,” his grandfather exclaimed. “The flowers of Barria, the jewel colors of fall.”

There was now morning dew covering the petals and the grass where before there had been no such thing.

“The journals will tell us more,” his grandfather said. “Call Jarvis and ask the questions that need to be asked.”

“The landscape has changed,” Keyos announced an hour later in the breakfast room of Keyos’s home. “Close the orchard for the day, Kel. Rhys, help him call the workers and send the security staff home. We’ll spend the day walking the land to see just what happened.”

“Kel’s crystal experiments have gone awry,” Rhys muttered. “Kel, you bastard. We’ll be at this all day.”

Kel scowled. “The cliff rose two inches, so it’s nothing I did.”

“The damned cliff is your fault,” Rhys muttered, setting his coffee cup on the old cherrywood table.

“I’m heading into town,” Zan said. “I’ll be back in a few hours to help, but I have a breakfast meeting with the school board’s director.”

“You make sure you do,” Keyos told him. “Jax, Travis, you’re helping, too. We can cover more ground with more bodies. Take cameras and get shots of everything that looks different. Kel, we’ll talk about your crystals later.”

Zan shot his brother a sympathetic look. “I think they’ve been a great help. The soil here wasn’t the friendliest.”

Keyos cocked a brow at him. “The sooner you leave the sooner you can get your ass back here.”

“Uh, Key, I don’t think it was the crystals,” Travis said and they all turned their gazes on him.

“See,” Kel muttered, making a face at Rhys.

“My grandfather said this town would change one day. It would reflect Barria. I think we better dust off the old tomes and take a look. I mean, the crystals damn sure had nothing to do with it becoming night for a full thirty minutes.”

“Travis is right,” Daisy said quietly as she entered the room. “The town has anchors that filter the power of the crystals put deep into the land. The fire crystals you found in the cave are Zytenian, according to the eastern elders.”

“You showed them the one we found?” Travis asked.

“Yes.” She nodded. “None of them looked pleased, but they said the anchor would have to be protected.”

  “The eastern anchor?” Travis asked.

She nodded. “There were at least two anchors for each point per generation to keep the energy stable. I don’t know who the others are, but I’m one of the eastern anchors. One of the northern anchors must be in your family because otherwise my father would never have approved our union.”

“Why do you say that?” Keyos demanded.

“None of us are allowed to marry or join with any family outside of our own,” she said. “Haven’t you noticed that? All cats are with cats, until me.”

  “She’s right,” Zier spoke up.

“I’m one of the southern anchors,” Travis said. “Maybe he guessed you’d mated an anchor.”

“I’ll talk to my grandfather and find out what he knows about this transformation,” Zier told them. “Maybe he can tell us what’s activated it or the crystals.”

“Logan,” Zan said. “Could he have been a southern anchor?”

“Could have,” Travis said. “Age wasn’t a factor, I’m assuming.”

“We need to find out what this means,” Zan said
. “What’s in store for the town now and whether we need to get out.”

“The change will certainly disturb some,” Daisy said. “And Jarvis and all his supporters might just be looking to bring the feds in now to see the proof we’re aliens.”

“If the town is still viable despite these changes and we can remain, then we’ll have to kill him and his people. End of story,” Keyos told them evenly. “There can be no compromise on that.”

  Chapter Twenty

There could be no compromises now. The pictures told the story of a human town morphing into an alien planet. What his grandfather and those of the men and women who supported him had tried to do had to be completed with this generation.

There was no question about it.

“You have to let me call my superiors.” There was a plea in the voice of the man sitting on the park bench next to him.

Not far from them was one of two structures that had risen from the ground in a flat surface that stretched over a mile and resembled sandstone. An odd scent permeated the air and a small stream could be heard as it wound its way through the park.

All of the trees were naked now except the evergreens and there was a chill in the air.

“Something fundamentally changed this town this morning,” his companion said softly. “Geologists need to be brought here.”

“Get a sample of the rock and send it to one along with some samples from the water,” Jarvis said. “Handle everything quietly so you don’t lose the samples like you lost the others.”

“I didn’t lose them,” he retorted. “Someone broke into my room and stole them.”

“I believe you,” he said tightly. “The problem is we just can’t get them back, so you’ll have to use the samples you get from here.”

“Scientists will come pouring in here to study the residents, the water, the plant life, and everything else. You’ll want to leave before that happens.”

  “Give me the heads up?”
